Chapter One

Even though her father forbade her to ever talk with that woman, Princess Visenya couldn't stop herself, her curiosity was one of her weak points.

Maybe she got it from her mother, Laena, her father seems only cold, uninterested in anything that's going on in his daughter's life besides making sure no one touches her, that till' he finds a right suitor for her. One who would treat her like the princess she was and of course, with a good fortune.

He first thought of Rhaenyra's boys, the Velaryons are after all, wealthier than the crown, and he would rather feed his daughters to Caraxes than marry any of them to any of that Hightower cunt, sons.

She only got to see her a few times, when she was only a young lad of ten and five, at her mother's funeral and before their departure to Dragonstone after her father's wedding with Princess Rhaenyra.

Dragonstone was never a place fit for a princess, it was always so dark, inhospitable, some myths even say the place is haunted by Queen Rhaena's ladies-in-waiting who got poisoned by Rhaena's husband at that time, Androw Farman.

Even though it scared her to her marrow, any story about Queen Rhaena was her favorite, she saw her as her role model in life.

What intrigued her the most about The Black Bride was the fact that she had never let her husband ride on her dragon with her and had always chosen her companions, Elissa, Alayne Royce and Samantha Stokeworth over him.

The speculation on the fact that the princess had wed Androw not because she loved him, but because she had fallen in love with his sister Elissa was making the princess's hearts flutter, a wonderful love story with such a tragic ending.

The Dragon's den was a very lonely place, no girls that she could spend her days with, besides her sister, Rhaena, who shared the same name as her idol.

If only her real mother was still alive, she did not care if Daemon would remain with them or not, she always knew, even though he deeply cared for her mother, he never loved her; as he loves Princess Rhaenyra.

And it still angers her, deep to the bones, that she had to be a witness to their wedding on the same day of her mother's funeral.

Even though she is on good terms with the princess, she had never seen her as a mother, more as someone who is trying hard but not enough to replace her mother.

But Visenya doesn't blame her, she knows that she already has to deal with her own kids, and with the kids her father had made her bear, a set of twins, two healthy boys with silverish hair, another set of dragons as her father, calls them.

She doesn't hate it on Dragonstone, but Pentos was a great place for them, a place she once had called her home.

Now she's planning to make her home, the Red Keep, this is the only chance she has and of course she'll take it.

Her dad won't miss a lad when he has so many now, what's one in plus or one in minus for him?

Only once she has been in this place, it isn't a very familiar place to her at all, but that will change with time.

They returned here because of the Queen, who is questioning the legitimacy of her step-siblings, Rhaenyra's kids supposedly made with Laenor Velaryon, but everyone knows they're Harwin Strong's, she even heard her dad say it multiple times while they were on the Pentoshi lands.

Maybe he was saying it out of jealousy, that he wasn't the one to offer the woman he always had dreamed of, heirs. But one look at them and "their father" at the funeral of her mother and it was enough for her to understand that in those kids didn't run even a single drop of Velaryon blood, unlike her who was half Velaryon and half Targaryen.

But she never had anything against that, they were no bastards how their mother was a Targaryen. Now that her grandfather's sons were only half Targaryen and the other half, Hightowers, why was no one's calling them bastards?

With their arrival in King's Landing, Daemon sent the kids off to play while the younger ones were in care of the wet nurse.

There was more time before the interrogation would start, while her father and Rhaenyra had to meet the Queen, she had to do whatever she saw more fit, and that meant, exploring the Red Keep, she had to accommodate there and learn every secret of it.

Even though she wasn't that close with Rhaenyra, her step-mother divulged the secret of the tunnels to her before their leaving, in case of anything that might happen and their lives would be put in danger, how she was the oldest, to take her siblings and hide there.

Of course she will make better use in the future of that information beside the protection of her siblings.

Wandering the hallways, she found herself before the council room with the Queen coming in hurry out of it.

Was she heading to meet her parents?

She bowed her head towards her but it seems that she had been left unnoticed.

The quicker look she had taken of her made her confused.

She doesn't possess the looks of a witch nor a vixen as her father portrayed her out to be. On the contrary, not even her step-mother, Princess Rhaenyra, doesn't possess such beauty as the Queen, in her eyes.

In this case, why does her father want to make her be what she truly isn't?

Of course they aren't on good terms, at least this she understood, but why?

And for answers, she knew what had to be done.

She didn't waste any more seconds before leaving in a haste as well, taking after her.

Visenya stopped when she saw her walking into a room. Moments after, a servant walks past her with a cup of tea.

"Wait!" She shouted after the servant before entering the same room as the Queen had entered.

"Princess" The servant had stated and bowed her head.

"The Queen is in there, right?" She questioned while trying to catch her breath, that woman was fast, but a Queen had many places to attend so it was not much of a surprise.

"Indeed she is…but-"

"I'll bring her this, you may leave." She was immediately cut off after admitting to the only thing the girl needed to hear.

"Princess, wait!" The servant exclaimed knowing who those chambers belonged to.

Without even wanting to hear what else the servant had to say, she entered the room and bowed her head.

Surprised by the girl's presence, both Alicent, Aegon and another servant girl who was seemingly desperate and out of place, her eyes red from shedding too many tears, turned their attention towards her.

"My Queen…uhmm, I had brought your tea" Visenya bowed as an awkward smile formed on her lips.

"Daiana, you may take the tea and leave, but be sure to drink it." Alicent stated towards the servant girl who appeared to be frightened by everyone in that room.

A sheep between dragons.

The Princess's eyes followed the servant girl walking past her after taking the cup of tea from her hands, slightly shaking, with a bow of head, retiring from the room.

"You must be Daemon's daughter, if I remember it right. You're much prettier than your sisters, but I assume you hear it a lot, don't you, Princess?" The boy with snowy locks spoke. Making the princess glance at him then turn her look towards the ground when she noticed him only covered in a silky bed sheet.

It was completely inappropriate for a maiden to see someone in such hypostasis, if they were not wed.

Her dad would definitely scold her if the Queen would report this to him, entering in such ill-mannered ness in a Prince's room, she supposed he was one of Alicent's kids by his looks.

That didn't stop her noticing the smirk forming at the corner of his mouth.

So he was the pervert between the two brothers. The one who possessed the conqueror's name yet this Aegon couldn't make a girl fall in love with him so he had to pay them in order to sleep with him, from what she understood from her father, this Aegon had spend more of his life in brothels than at the Red Keep, while the other Aegon had not one but two wives.

The other one must be Aemond, the one who stole Vhagar, her mother's dragon before her to claim it. She met them only once and at that time both of them were only boys, now it seems that both had grown. Aegon doesn't seem to have changed since then as well, he only kept his eyes on the maidens rather than paying attention to the funeral.

Now she realizes what the tea was for, to prevent the servant from getting pregnant, of course, he couldn't keep it in his pants at the sight of a woman, such a douchebag.

"Or you've given up your title and now you've become a slave?" Aegon's voice echoed in the room that had been left in dead silence for a few moments. "I see that you've found your calling, I'm glad that at least someone accepted their fate. Your bastard brothers from my cunt half-sister shall take you as a role model in life."

He continued shamelessly, not minding even in the slightest the fact that his own mother was present.

"Aegon!" Alicent yelled at him. "Watch your tongue, the Princess and her family are our guests. Now I should be welcoming them, but look where I am now! Cleaning your mess." She exhaled, disturbed by her son's words.

A smile crossed the princess's lips, the Queen clearly wasn't how her father described her, in neither looks or personality.

"What is it, Princess? I was just about to head meet with your parents. Something just came up and you can see it by yourself." The Red Head turned her attention towards the Targaryen Princess after glaring one last time at Aegon.

She gracefully approached, pressing her hand on her lower back before both of them made their way out of Aegon's chambers.

"I wanted to discuss something with you between four eyes but I suppose that can wait since you're busy with more important matters, Your Majesty."

"If it is about your brother's right to Driftmark, that topic is to be discussed later at his audition before the eyes of the hand, court and of course, House Velaryon.

Sir Vaemond questions the legitimacy of the heir and I cannot give my opinion yet before hearing both sides."

"I know that, that's the reason we had come all the way here but there's something else I'd like us to discuss."

"If it isn't about Rhaenyra's son's claim, do you want it for yourself perhaps?" She tilted her head as she held her chin high in sign of perplexity.

"You're surely more of a Velaryon than those kids are, if we're gonna talk openly about it."

"I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but If my grandfather would have seen me fit for it, he would have named me heir instead of my half-brother in the first place. It goes against my principles to wish for something that doesn't belong to me rightfully."

"Child, you're wasting my time, what is it that you want? Your parents are waiting for me!" She exclaimed in exasperation letting out a deep sigh.

"I want to remain here in King's Landing, Dragonstone is no place for a Princess, even though I love my family dearly, there's nothing to do there, that place is horrible."

The words came out of her mouth before she even had time to comprehend the gravity of the situation.

She had practiced many times her request while departing for King's Landing, in her head she inquired with the utmost decorum, in reality everything seemed so brusque.

She was now afraid of the Queen's reaction, the outcome of her inappropriate behavior, if she was to tell her father, he would immediately have her married off to some gut-churning Lord.

"And how does that concern me, Princess?" She crossed her arms as a frown took over her appearance, watching her confused.

"My father bad-mouths you.

Many, many, displeasing things to hear,  and I completely disagree. Because from what I've seen, you're completely different from his portrayal of yours.

We've met before at the funeral of my late mother, although we never got the chance to have a proper conversation until this very moment, but I hope you may also prove that you're not that way. I might have been fooled but I deeply hope in my heart that you're a good person despite everything I've heard, My Queen.

I beg of you to convince my parents or at least Rhaenyra to let me live here, she may convince father.

Marriage isn't for me, I hope that you can understand."

"Oh little dove, I'm afraid I cannot do anything about that since I have no power over the Princess, and with this meeting for the legitimacy of her son, she clearly won't listen any of my words, moreover I'm afraid your father will influence her against me no matter how hard I will try. You know very well that the last time we met, we came on very bad terms, my sweet boy lost an eye…"

Alicent took the princess' hands in hers, with her thumb squeezing one of them, seemingly lost in her thoughts for a few moments.

But gained a dragon, Visenya's dragon.

"I'll try to think of something until tonight, don't worry, my dear." Alicent spoke in a soft voice, her words echoing in the hallway.

She got some sort of nostalgia, remembering her good old times spent with Rhaenyra, her dearest old friend with whom her ties loosened up after the Rogue Prince got a hold of her.

She couldn't deny it but admit that Princess Visenya did resemble her in some type of way even though she wasn't her daughter.

Or maybe she wants to see it that way, since she forgot the sight of her childhood sweetheart many years ago.

She couldn't close her eyes but feel the resentment the young princess held towards her.

She might be the only person who doesn't see her as everyone else. A monster or a madwoman.

Quite shocking behavior coming from Daemon's child. The one who took her dear friend from her ever since their adolescence, she might as well take his child away from him, only if she finds somehow a way to convince Rhaenyra.

She has to stop this, that's the only way, there will be no other way if she doesn't make sure that Lucerys ends up heir to Driftmark.
