27. Welcome To The Hazbin Hotel! (PART 2) (requested)

REAL QUICK, BEFORE YOU READ THIS!

I have a question to ask y'all. What is your favorite genre of one shot to read (ex. Fluff, angst, AUs, hurt/comfort, etc.)?

I'm wondering because, in case there's a time when I don't have requests to complete, I want to write one shots that will generally appeal to most or all of you. Let me know what you'd want to see in the future (Again, please just list a genre)!

Varian's POV:

“How did you end up in Hell?” Y/n wonders.

She and I are running errands for Charlie while she's working on an important project. No one else beside me and Y/n have decided to check into the hotel since the last Extermination, and that was several months ago. I like how close all the residents are with each other, but Charlie is understandably upset about how little her plan is succeeding.

With very little time until the Exorcists launch another attack on Hell, everything is stressing Charlie out. I offered to help her, and Y/n thought it would be a good idea if she tagged along. I don't mind the company. Y/n and I have been close since the day we met.

However, this question in particular sours my tongue.

“Varian, are you alright? I-I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”

“It's fine,” I reassure her. “It's not that big of a deal, I assure you.”

Y/n nods, biting her lip anxiously. “You don't have to answer that if you don't want to. I was just curious.”

“No, I trust you. I can tell you.” I fidget with my gloves.

“I know you can, but do you want to?”

I gaze at Y/n for a moment, taking a pause in my walking. She stops too, concern etching her face as she looks back at me. People pass by us, seemingly bothered by the fact that we're standing in the middle of the sidewalk. Nothing hurts more than my heart in this moment. I never expected Y/n to want to know me just as much as I want to know her.

I clamp my fist around my chest, crumpling my trenchcoat. I'm blushing bright blue and I have to stop myself from completely combusting.

“Yes… I want to tell you.”

Y/n walks me over to somewhere more private (that being a seemingly empty alleyway) and leans against the brick wall of the closest building. I do the same.

“You want to know how I ended up here?” I repeat the question to her, to which she nods her head curiously. I take a deep breath, making sure to calm my nerves before continuing. “Alright, I'll tell you.

“It all started when I was alive. I was a good kid, I think. All I ever knew was alchemy and the process of inventing. My father… he loved me, but he was never proud of me. I was nothing but mistake to him. Then, one day, I met this incredible princess with seventy feet of golden hair named Rapunzel. She was the first friend I ever made, along with her lady-in-waiting Cassandra and her boyfriend Flynn Rider. We were all so close, but then I completely blew it.”

“What happened?” Y/n asks me.

There's a huge lump of guilt in my throat now. I hate thinking about what happened before it all ended. “Because of my reckless actions, my father was trapped inside a casing of strong amber. I failed to get him out, and what's worse is that I hurt my friends to get my way. In the end, that didn't even work because I got thrown into prison.”

I unbutton my trenchcoat and shirt and reveal to Y/n my abdomen region. There's a large, gaping hole where my stomach should be.

Y/n stares at it with worry, covering her mouth with her hands.

“I starved while I was in prison,’ I told her sadly. “That's why I have this hole. It wasn't any of the guards' fault; it was mine. I refused to eat for weeks, and look where that got me! I'm so stupid.”

“You're not stupid, Varian. Please don't say things like that,” Y/n says, gently squeezing my shoulder. “My death wasn't all that noble either.”

I look at her, confused. “It wasn't?”

Y/n laughs softly. “Well, I mean, we both ended up in Hell, so we obviously didn't die in some heroic way like Sir Pentious did. I'm… I'm sorry you had to go through all that just to end up here at rock bottom.”

“It's fine.” I look away and stare at the ground, chuckling awkwardly for a moment. “You get used to it after a while. Besides, I did this to myself.”

She shifts awkwardly before saying to me, “Since you were comfortable enough to share your story, I'll share mine.”

As Y/n shares things about her past, I listen earnestly. She tells me with such pain that it nearly tears my heart apart. She's got it pretty rough like I do.

“So, that's about it.” She finishes and looks at me shyly. “Thanks for listening. I wasn't really expecting you to after I pushed you into spilling the tea about your past.”

A strong feeling from deep down urges me to step closer to Y/n, place my hands on her shoulders, and look directly into her e/c eyes. “You didn't make me do anything, Y/n. I will always listen to you, no matter what.”

I pull her in for a kiss, sliding my arms around her neck and trying my best to ignore the harsh pounding in my heart. I'm expecting Y/n to fight back, pull away… something, but she doesn't. Instead, she wraps her arms around my waist and kisses me back. Her breath is warm against my face, which is adding more to my already blushing, warm face.

Soft gasps and moans leave our lips as we kiss each other with passion. Everything around us is blocked out of my senses because my focus is settled on Y/n and Y/n only.

She's so beautiful, so kind, so loving, so strong… It all practically makes my heart melt every time i lay my glowing eyes on her. I feel so lost without her guidance. Ever since day one, she's helped me fit in with the other hotel residents and staff. She's always included me, respected me, and been there for me.

She's everything to me.

Just as we were about to get to the good part, Y/n breaks away from our kiss without warning. I'm left confused and opening my mouth for an explanation, but Y/n shushes me.

“Wait! I hear something,” she whispers, looking deeper into the alleyway.

I take in the view and get the same uncomfortable feeling in my gut that she must be having. She's right; something doesn't feel right.

We stand together in silence, analyzing the area. There seemed to be no apparent signs of danger, but we couldn't shake the feeling that someone was there.

We were right.

Without warning, a gang of loan sharks pop out of their hiding places in the dumpsters and immediately began to surround us. As if having pointy weapons wasn't enough, these sharks have glistening, razor-sharp teeth that could almost definitely cut through flesh.

Instinctively, I reach inside my trenchcoat and feel around for my chemical balls to throw at them. Meanwhile, Y/n pulls out a (weapon of choice).

“What do you want from us?” Y/n spits threateningly at the loan sharks. “You'd better not be looking for trouble.”

“Well, that wouldn't be that fun, would it?” A loan shark chuckles, pulling out a gun. “Let's dance, bitch.”

Y/n growls. “Oh, it's on. Varian, let's show these little shits a thing or two about messing with us.”

I pull out four chemical balls. “You got it.”

Right as the loan sharks started to charge headfirst at us, we began our attack of defense. Y/n is injuring and killing left to right, while I use my chemicals to stop them in their tracks. The loan sharks land a few blows on us, but it's nothing compared to the damage we're doing.

“Varian, look out!” Y/n cries as she's shoving a loan shark off of her.

I glance behind me and spot a loan shark in the corner of my eye. I swiftly reach into my pocket and pull out another chemical ball. This time, I accidentally drop it before I can attack!

Without much time to react, I fling my arm in the direction of the shark to ward him off. I succeed but I discover something entirely new in the process.

Y/n is finished fighting off the loan sharks and is staring at something behind me in awe. “Varian… that's incredible. What is it?”

Confused, I turn around and immediately find my mind going blank. The loan shark is completely encased in a thick, golden substance.

Amber.

I slowly approach the amber and caress it before looking at my hand. My glove has been ripped off of me during the fight, revealing my blue hand with glowing blue pads on each finger. I can see a neon yellow-green ooze secreting from each finger pad; the very same ooze that was used to create the amber substance before. I quickly wipe my hand off and slip my glove back on.

“It's the amber that encased my father back then,” I explain to Y/n, who is dusting her clothes off. “In my entire 200 years in Hell, I have never come in contact with this amber before now.”

“That's a bit odd, ain't it?” Y/n says, reaching out to touch the amber. “I would assume you'd notice such a powerful ability soon after you got here.”

I shrug. “Well, I rarely take my gloves off, so…”

“We should get home before anyone sees this.” Y/n grabs my hand and leads me out the alleyway. I'm blushing all over again from the feeling of her hand on mine. She has such a gentle yet firm grip.

“What about Charlie's shopping items?” I ask her. She's walking in the direction of the hotel, not the shopping mall.

“I'm sure she would understand that we got into a it of a rumble on the way. Besides, we're supposed to be back by dinner. We're running out of time.”

“O-Oh, right.”

A moment passed where we don't speak. We just continue walking.

“You know, you're pretty strange for a Sinner,” Y/n says a bit randomly.

“What do you mean?” I ask, chuckling at the question.

“I mean, you've been sent to Hell by the All Mighty God, yet you don't swear, you don't drink… you don't do anything remotely bad while you're here,” Y/n explains to me. “Sometimes I feel like you should be up in Heaven already.”

“That's true, but…” I look down at the ground, “...It feels like home here.”

Y/n stops dead in her tracks. “Huh? It… It does?”

“I've always wanted to get into Heaven so I could see my friends again and apologize for everything I did. Even if it was just for a visit, I would gladly accept. I don't feel like I deserve to live for all eternity in Heaven, but it wouldn't hurt to try, I suppose.”

Y/n gives me a sad look.

I swallow a large lump in my throat. “I guess… what I'm trying so say is, I… I want to be here with you.”

“Oh, Varian…”

Y/n squeezes my hand a little tighter. “I want to be here with you too. You have no idea how refreshing it is to meet a Sinner who's trying harder than anyone else to improve. That's why I chose to stay at the hotel: to find people like you.”

Y/n kisses me on the cheek, which makes me glow with happiness. I hug her real tight before we head back to the hotel in tandem.

Time Skip

“Welcome to Heaven,” an angelic voice booms from above me.

Someone is floating down towards me, changing their form to look less intimating. She is a beautiful creature, having long gray hair, a freckled face, and a mature appearance that reminds me of a nurturing mother.

“My name is Sera, the head seraphim. You must be Varian,” the woman tells me. “It looks as if you've been redeemed.”

I walk over to a reflective space nearby and notice that I have changed a little bit. My hair and eyes have changed to a much lightly tone, along with my clothes. Instead of wearing a trenchcoat, I'm wearing simple and loose clothing, which admittedly are more comfortable. My goggles have also changed from silver to gold. I look a lot cleaner and healthier than I was before.

As I'm studying my features, a crucial thought enters my mind, prompting me to ask Sera, “Where is Y/n? Has she been redeemed as well?”

Sera shakes her head. “No, not yet. I can sense she's on her way, however.”

I nod slowly, my heart already aching from her absence. “I see.”

I hear a sigh from Sera. “You know, I never expected any of you Sinners to follow a path of redemption. I assumed that Miss Morningstar’s plan was foolish and pointless, but now… I guess times have changed for the better. I was wrong to assume any differently. You belong here, just like the rest of our Winners.”

I look past the both of us and see the Golden Gates. Deep down, I'm longing to go inside, but I also miss the hotel, all my friends, and, most importantly, Y/n.

“I don't think I can do this,” I say to Sera fearfully. “Y/n was there to help me while we were at the hotel. Now that she's still down there, I just… I'm frightened.”

Sera places her hand on my shoulder comfortingly. “You're a brave man, Varian. I'm sure you can face all that's beyond the Golden Gates. Y/n will find her way back to you, I promise.”

I look up at her questioningly. “Is that a promise you can keep?”

Sera’s eyes widen before a small smile spreads across her face. “Yes, Varian. It is.”

One more look at the Gate convinces me to take a step forward into the unknown. Y/n helped me get this far, so the least I can do is finish what she started.

I can wait for her– I'm certain I can.

“Don't worry, Y/n,” I whisper under my breath. “I'll wait as long as you need me to.”

With that, I step inside of Heaven for the first time and go out to find my long-lost friends.

Thank you for reading the Hazbin Hotel AU to its completion! I hope you liked it ❤️

Also, the idea to give Varian amber manipulation powers came from one of my close friends, sleepykitty_lgbtq. Thank you so much!
