06. Port Angeles
──•~❉᯽❉~•──
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY IN FORKS. The weather was warm and breezy, perfect for spending some time outside.
Dylan sat on a picnic bench with Bella and Jessica. Eating fresh, sweet strawberries while reading one of Bella's books. It was lunch period and everyone was outside, taking in the occasional sunlight that replaced the consistent gloomy clouds.
Turning to the next page, without looking, Dylan reaches for another strawberry, but her hand is met with the wooden surface of the table. Patting around for the open container, she puts down the book to search for it.
"That was the last strawberry you ate," Bella said, messing with the stem of the green apple in her hands.
Dylan pressed her lips into a thin line. "I should've packed more," She huffed before going back to reading.
"I might've stolen a few." Jessica took a peak at the light brunette, who looked at her annoyed.
"Doubt it was a few, Jess," The girl scoffed, knowing she took more. Dylan disliked sharing her food with other people, especially if she took the time and pack it for herself.
The Stanley girl only laughed and glanced at Bella, before leaning back. Feeling the warmth of the heat touch her face. "He's not here," She directed to the older twin. Noticed her taking longing looks around, every so often. Bella looked down feeling caught, trying to find a certain Cullen.
"Whenever the weather's nice, the Cullens disappear," Jessica informs.
The younger twin raised a brow, as Bella frowned. "What'd they just ditch?" She asked.
Jessica did a glance before closing her eyes. "No, um Dr. and Mrs Cullen yank them out for like hiking and camping and stuff. I tried that on my parents, not even close."
"Guys!" Angela exclaimed, approaching the table, and sitting next to Dylan with an excited smile. "I'm going to the prom with Eric,"
Dylan immediately engulfed Angela in a hug, who happily returned it. Both squealed out in excitement. "Screw the norms, Dylan!" She cheered out.
"Screw norms!" Dylan repeated as they parted. The light brunette felt so happy for her friend, seeing the stress or worry no longer there.
Angela then got up and walked over to Bella, to also hug her. "I just asked him, I took control."
"I told you that would happen," Bella said, giving a supporting hug to the girl. When they pulled apart, Angela stood in front of the table.
"Are you sure you have to go out of town?" Angela asked, sounding down.
Dylan eyed her twin, who nodded, "Oh yeah it's more of a family thing." She kept up with her lie and Dylan had to keep her mouth shut, however, she'd be annoying Bella about it later.
"Okay, we should go shopping in Port Angeles before all the good dresses get cleaned out." Jessica piped up, sliding herself off the table.
The bell rang throughout the school, indicating lunch was over. Dylan got up from her seat, grabbing any trash that was on the table from her lunch. She then leaned over and grabbed her bag from the ground, swinging it over the shoulder.
"Port Angeles? Mind if I come?" Bella asked, still sitting in her spot.
The blue-eyed girl shot a surprised look at Bella. Not expecting her sister to come along. Normally it would take an arm and a leg for Bella to agree, but in the end, Dylan would let go. Knowing her sister wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much as she would.
"Yeah, I need your opinion," Angela said happily.

The school day went by fast and as soon as the last bell rang for the day. The four teenage girls wasted no time and sprinted out of the building, heading straight towards Jesscia's car. Piling in, getting situated, and off they went to the city of Port Angeles. Dylan, sitting in the passenger seat, as Bella and Angela sat in the back.
Music filled the car as they drove by the beauty of Washington. Windows rolled down, hair scattering all over their faces. Mixes of laughter and chatter filled the air. Dylan's hand out the window, the wind flowing against her fingers.
The girl never felt more at home. She loved living here permanently now. This place held something special in her heart and not just the people she cared about, living here. But the freedom of being able to do what she wanted, with nothing standing in her way or holding her back.
In some ways that reminded her of their mother, Renee. A free-spirited woman, who wanted to go out and explore the world. Travel to places and see the entirety in a new light. Someone who couldn't stay in one place for a long time and had to move. However, Dylan felt like her soul had always been here, feeling so connected to a place where it always rained and the greenery had shined brighter, with each shower.
The girl retrieved her hand back from the opened window, as they came to a stop light. She then reached behind the seat with an open hand. A second later, she felt another hold hers, giving it a light squeeze. Dylan smiled and glanced back at Bella, before letting go.
Both girls did this where they'd hold each other's hand if they felt overwhelmed or scared in a situation. It has been their thing since they were kids. Dylan wanted to hold Bella's hand because of the happiness she felt at the moment and wanted to share that with her sister.
Once they parked in the small parking lot of the dress shop. Jessica switched the ignition off and opened her door, with the rest following after. The front door opened and they were welcomed with rays of prom dresses on racks and accessories around the store.
"Welcome! If you need any help finding anything, let us know!" The store clerk happily welcomed, as the four teens walked in. Dylan greeted back and walked further into the store, separating herself from the others.
She finds herself looking through the colorful dresses and jewelry. Her blue eyes darted aimlessly and her hands sorted through the silk fabric of the materials. When she didn't find what she liked, she walked over to the next row. Humming softly to the music that played in the background.
The voice of Jessica called out to the girl. "Dylan! Come here!"
Halting her movement, she treads her way back to them, leading herself to the other side of the store. Dylan's sight is set on the two girls, each holding a dress in their hands, staring into the mirror in front of them. "There you are! Okay, what do you think of this?" The Stanley girl holds up a bright pink dress.
Dylan nodded and walked up to her. "Looks pretty, especially the top," She reaches out and touches the pink dress.
"That's why I picked it, I hope it makes my boobs look good." Jessica gushes before fleeing to the back of the store, towards the dressing rooms.
Angela however looked unsure, holding her dress. "What do you think of mine? To bland??" She asked the shorter girl.
The younger Swan smiled reassuringly, "No, I think it'll look amazing on you, you should try it on," She ushered Angela, who glanced at the purple dress before smiling excitedly and followed where Jessica went.
Dylan's eyes soon trailed to her twin, who was sitting by the window, reading a book. "I didn't know you had a thing in Jacksonville, on the day of prom?" She questioned as she walked to another part of the store, but still had a good distance where she could see Bella.
Bella's brown eyes went off the page and settled on the wall in front of her. She sighed, "I only said that so Mike could drop the idea of asking me to prom and I advised he'd go with Jessica instead."
The blue-eyed girl nodded slowly, pursing her lips. "I'd probably do the same, except I would come up with a better lie though." She glanced at Bella who chuckled. Dylan continued to look at the beautiful dresses until one caught her eye. "Though you could last minute say your thing in Jacksonville was canceled and go to prom."
Bella glanced at her twin while shaking her head. "Yeah, but dresses and dancing are not my thing you know that." She expressed disinterest, turning to another page.
Dylan only nodded to what Bella had said; her fingers ran down the material leaving her in awe. It was a sleeveless dress, in a pretty blue color. Along with a reddish ombre that waved on the bottom. With dark red prints of flowers decorating the top, and down till it reached the ends of the dress.
She took the dress off the rack and turned to face Bella, with it pressed against her. "Bella, what'd you think of this?"
The brunette looked up from her book, with her softly looking at the dress. "It's looks great, it matches you,"
"Well, I should try it on then." Dylan smiles excitedly and walks over to throw her purse beside Bella. "I'll model it for you when I get back," She playfully flicks her light brown hair and goes to the back of the dressing rooms. Bella laughed softly and shook her head at her twin's antics before going back to reading.
"Guys?" Dylan calls out, as she walks into the narrow hallway. Only four doors remain, with two closed.
"In here!" Angela yelled, as the door beside hers abruptly opened. Jessica's head peeks out from the frame, "Dylan can you help clip this on the back?"
Dylan nods and walks over as Jessica turns around. Hanging her dress on a random hook on the wall. She grabs the ends of thick pink straps and clips them together, securing it. "There,"
"I feel like this dress was just made for me," Jessica exclaimed, turning to face Dylan before her eyes looked over at the dress hanging on the wall. "Is this the dress you picked out?" She asked, reaching out to inspect it.
"Yeah, it's the only dress that stood out to me. There's probably more out there, but I haven't looked through them yet." Dylan explained while also looking at it.
Jessica nodded an unreadable expression across her face. "Well, I'm sure you'll look good in it." She smiled briefly and called out to their other friend. "Angela you ready?"
The door beside them opens a second later, and the girl dressed in a purple silk dress, walks out with a bright smile. "Guy's I think I found the one," Angela squealed.
"Come on! Let's go show Bella." Jessica eagerly drags her, but she halts their steps and turns to look at Dylan. "Wait, Dylan are you-"
"I'm gonna try this one real quick, I'll see you guys out there." Dylan interrupted, reassuring Angela as she gestured to the dress behind her.
"Oh okay," Angela smiled and Jessica resumed by pulling her out of the long hallway.
Dylan turned on her heel and grabbed the dress from the hook, going to one of the available rooms, and locking the door behind her. She quickly strips off her clothes, and slips into the dress, zipping it from behind. Since there was no mirror, the light-headed brunette looked down at herself, taking a moment to feel the fabric against her skin. She twirls lightly in the small dressing room, with a smile on her face.
"Dylan!"
The Stanley girl's voice called out, making Dylan stop her twirling. "Yes?" She yelled back, opening the door,
"What's taking so long? Get out here."
An airless chuckle escaped her lips as she walked out of the dressing rooms and out into the store. "I'm here, happy?" She asked the girl who was fixing the top of her dress.
Angela gasped in shock, noticing the dress on Dylan. "Dylan, that dress looks so beautiful on you! Right, Jess?"
The girl smiled, "Thanks Angie,", but a frown creased, suddenly noticing her twin not sitting by the window. "Where's Bella?" She asked, concerned as she walked up to them.
Jessica took a glance at Dylan, "Told you the dress would look good on you," She trailed off, turning her body sideways at the mirror. "Oh Bella went to some bookstore, we're going to meet her at the restaurant later."
The Swan girl nodded, not surprised, knowing how much Bella loved books. She then also turned to look at herself in the mirror. She smiled, liking how the dress fit well on her.
"Dark blue gloves would also look good with it," Angela suggests, handing Dylan some gloves to match her dress. The girl slipped them onto her arms with a smile.

"She's still not answering." Dylan sighed worriedly as she took the phone off her ear and glanced down at the small screen. "Got anything, Angela?" The younger twin asked, with a hopeful look in her blue eyes.
It had gotten dark outside when they arrived at the restaurant. Dylan didn't feel alarmed until an hour went by and many calls were made to Bella that weren't picked up. When their food came to their table, Dylan didn't have an appetite to eat and sat there wondering where her sister was. She hoped nothing bad had happened to Bella and therefore lost track of time at the bookstore.
The girl shook her head, biting the inner corner of her lip. "No messages from her,"
The light brunette thought for a moment. "Did Bella say which bookstore she was going to?" She asked, looking down at her phone again.
"She didn't say, but I think there's one up ahead from here, we can go check it out and see if she's still there?" Jessica offered, packing up the rest of her leftover food in a to-go box.
Dylan nodded feeling hopeful and packed up her uneaten dinner as well. Hoping what Jessica said was the case and Dylan was overly worried about nothing. Even if they didn't end up finding Bella there, she wasn't going to leave Port Angeles without her.
Grabbing her purse that was hanging on the back of the chair, Dylan got up from her seat and put on her sweater, knowing it had gotten cold outside. Dylan handed her food to Angela, who put it in a bag along with hers. Then the trio walked away from their table to the front of the restaurant to pay.
The bookstore wasn't something new for Bella, considering how much she loves to read and the piling of books overtaking her bookcase. Dylan's mind began to feel positive again, knowing her sister must still be there despite other possibilities of her going somewhere else.
After paying their tab, they headed out of the restaurant and down the steps. Only to be met with Bella, who rushed up to them, slightly out of breath. "Hey, you guys, I'm sorry. I just-"
Dylan grasped Bella's shoulders, sighing out in relief. "Oh thank goodness you're okay! Where were you?" She interrupted, her voice being slightly louder over Angela and Jesscia's concerned questions asking the same thing.
Before the older Swan could explain herself, Edward stepped in from the side making his presence known. "Um, I'm sorry for keeping Bella from dinner" He stated, his smile charming the girls except for Dylan, who frowned. "We just sorta ran into each other and got talking," Edward said as the swooned girls brushed off his reasoning.
"No, we totally understand. I mean, that happens right?" Jessica smiled as Angela giggled. "We were just leaving."
The younger Swan pulled Bella's arm, guiding her towards Jesscia's car, ready to get out there and head home. Edward walks to the opposite side of the entrance of the restaurant, trading places with the girls.
"I think I should make sure Bella gets something to eat. If you'd like." Edward suddenly offers, catching everyone off guard, Bella then nods in agreement. "I'll drive you home myself." His topaz eyes solely focused on the older Swan.
"That's so thoughtful." Angela beams, turning to smile at Bella. "It's really thoughtful." Jessica also agreed.
"Yeah, I should eat something," Bella spoke up, slowly leaving Dylan's grasp.
"Okay, so we'll see you tomorrow." Jessica bids, while she and Angela start walking towards the car.
However, Dylan stood there feeling unsure of her sister being alone with Edward. "I'll be there in a sec," She tells them, not waiting to hear their replies, Dylan pulls Bella to the side.
"Bella, are you sure? I mean it's getting late, do you even trust this guy? He has been giving you such a hard time, ever since we moved here." Dylan whispered out, watching Bella disagree with a head shake, briefly looking down.
"It's fine, look something happened and Edward was there. I'll explain everything when I get home." She said, but Dylan was not convinced and instead turned her focus onto Edward. Who was patiently waiting, not knowing he could hear the entire conversation, "I trust him, Dylan." The girl pressed further.
Her eyes shifted back onto Bella as she sighed before nodding. Knowing nothing will change Bella's mind and even if she tried, it would be a waste of time. "Call me if anything happens," Dylan pleads, pulling Bella in for a hug.
"I'll see you at home okay?" Bella says, letting go and sending a lined smile before turning around, and making her way towards Edward.
"I'll be sure to get her home safely Dylan," Edward assured, sending another charming smile. All Dylan could do at that moment was nod at his words; smile politely at him, and turn to walk to Jesscia's car. Seeing both girls, taking multiple glances at the pair behind her, knowing they were going to ask her a million questions on the way home.
