02. The Cullens
──•~❉᯽❉~•──
IT WAS NO SECRET THAT DYLAN SWAN SUCCEEDED IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND LOVED SCHOOL. Driving to Forks High School that morning, she couldn't contain her excitement.
Bella wasn't all too thrilled at the idea of starting a new school. Especially since people gave them weird looks when they pulled up to the parking lot. However, that didn't stop Dylan from giving them all polite smiles as she dragged Bella inside the building.
"We only have a few classes together." Dylan voiced out, her eyes scanning over their schedules. Bella only hummed in response and continued to look at her paper.
"You're Dylan and Isabella. The twins." An Asian boy came up from beside them with an energetic smile on his face. "Hi, I'm Eric, the eyes and ears of this place. Anything you need, tour guide, lunch date, shoulder to cry on?"
"A lunch date sounds pretty nice," Dylan said as they continued walking. A smile formed on her lips.
"Then it's a date. How about you?" He asked Bella who awkwardly chucked. "I'm really more suffer in-silence type."
Eric nodded, "Good headline for your feature. I'm on the paper and you're news baby, front page."
Dylan glanced at her sister, who looked frightened at Eric's proposal. "No, I'm not," She quickly dismissed as their walking abruptly stopped.
" Please don't have any sort of-"
"Woah. Chillax. No feature." He shrugs it off, and Bella visibly relaxed, nodding. "Okay."
" I mean if you need someone to feature on the paper, I could do it." The younger twin offers, seeing Eric's face brighten up. "Perfect, like I said, first page, front and center."
The bell rings, singling the first period and Dylan feels a little sad being separated from Bella. "Is our lunch date still on?" She asked Eric who started to walk backwards the opposite way.
His smile never leaves, "Absolutely, I'll see you guys there." He gives them a wave before walking away.
Dylan turned to Bella, "Are you gonna be okay until lunch?" She questioned, taking a look around, noticing the area becoming sparse.
The older sighed, reassuring with a nod. "Yeah, I'll be okay." She gave a small smile. Although she wished they had more classes together.
The twins were inseparable growing up and now that they're attending a different school. Reality finally sunken into Dylan, that everything might not be the same as it once was.
"Okay," Dylan smiled and turned to walk the opposite way, then briefly looked back with a smirk. "Oh and have fun in gym." She joked, knowing her sister wasn't into sports nor liked it. Bella laughed, shaking her head as she too walked to class.

"I'm Mike.'' The blonde boy held his hand out and Dylan shook it. "Nice to meet you," She gave him a nod.
"And I'm Jessica," The other brightly smiled, "You're so pretty." She commented making Dylan grin, grabbing her lunch try.
"Awe, thanks, Jess." This made Jessica happily walk beside her, as the four of them walked to the table that held Eric talking to someone.
Mike pulled out two chairs for the twins to sit in. Dylan scooted her chair in, sitting next to Eric. "Hey Mikey! You've met the twins, my bestie Dylan and my home girl Bella." The Asian boy expresses.
The blonde gave a surprised look to him, dropping his sandwich on the table as he sat down. "Your home girl?" He questioned, his fingers resting on his chin.
" Yeah," Eric answered and Dylan turned to look behind, hearing fast footsteps approaching them.
"My girl," Tyler snuck from behind Bella, quickly planting a kiss on her cheek. Then grabbed Mike's chair, pulling it back making him fall. Before running away he gives a wink to Dylan. "Sorry I had to mess up your game Mikey!" He yelled out as Mike got up from the floor, chasing him out.
Dylan rolled her eyes playfully at their childish behavior. Jessica shifted in her seat, stunned at what just happened. "Oh, my god," She breathed out. "It's like first grade all over again. Your guys are like the shiny new toy."
"Smile!" Angela sat beside Jessica, a bright flash hitting the twins. The sound of the picture being taken is filtered through the air.
"Okay," Bella said awkwardly, while Dylan was blinking the colored spots out of her vision. "Sorry, I needed our candid for the feature." She explained, grinning at Dylan.
"No it's all good, but I think blinked in the picture though," Dylan admitted sheepishly.
"Next time give a warning, Angela, it needs to be perfect," Eric said, annoyed, getting up from his seat and walking away.
"Is he okay?" Bella was the one to ask, glancing at the boy.
The girl in purple sighed, "Sometimes the stress of the paper brings out the snappy side of him." Jessica nodded in agreement with her friend before leaning her chin to rest on the back of her hands.
"So Dylan, do you do any sports?" Witnessing Bella's poor attempt at playing volleyball earlier that morning. Jessica wanted to know if the other twin, had the same athletic nature as the pale girl sitting beside her.
The younger twin nodded proudly, "Uh yeah, been active since I was a kid. I played softball, volleyball, basketball, and ballet, for a short time though. Well, we." She points at Bella and her, "But, the one thing I've wanted to do was soccer."
Jessica's head perked up at that, "We actually have a soccer team here. Tryouts start this Thursday after school. You should totally go for it." She takes a sip of her drink
The light brunette girl's face grew in surprise, excited at the idea. "Yeah, I definitely will."
Angela lets out a giggle, her eyes looking down at her camera. "Oh my gosh, you totally did!" She exclaimed, leaning forward to show Dylan the small screen.
The Swan girl chuckled, the picture showing her eyes barely opened and Bella looking like a deer being caught in the headlights. "I'm gonna get my picture retaken right?" Dylan joked, amused.
"Duh," Jessica expressed in a deadpan tone, having Dylan rolling her eyes at that.
"Of course!" Angela exclaimed, "And we need to ask a few questions, so whenever you have time stop by the paper room."
"Who are they?"
The trio looked at Bella, who was engrossed in the undeniably beautiful group of people walking outside by the window. "The Cullens," Angela answered Bella's question, then took another glance.
"They're Dr. and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They moved down here from Alaska, like, a few years ago." Jessica informs the twins as the group opens the blue metal doors.
"They kind of keep to themselves." Angela imputed.
Jessica leaned closer to them, not hiding the fact of her talking about them. "Yeah, 'cause they're all together. Like together, together"
Dylan's eyes widened, "You're kidding?" She questioned, believing her words.
Jessica shook her head with a knowing smile, "Everyone at school knows, they don't really hide it at all." She glimpsed over her shoulder, "The blonde girl that's Rosalie, and the big dark-haired guy, Emmett, they're like a thing. I'm not even sure that's legal."
The couple gracefully walked by the gossiping girls, with perfect posture, that made Dylan subconsciously sit up straight. She simply couldn't tear her eyes away from Rosalie, as she thought to be the most beautiful person she had ever seen.
"Jess, they're not actually together." Angela resorted to the nosey brunette.
"Yeah, but they live together. It's weird and-" Jessica paused her words, seeing the next couple walk by, and quickly turned her attention back to the conversation. "Okay, the little dark-haired girl's Alice. She's really weird, and she's with Jasper, the blond one who looks like he's in pain."
"She looks nice," Dylan defends, frowning at Jessica's words. Alice looked friendly and bubbly pulling Jasper along to sit at their table.
"But super weird" She responded then shifted her focus on Bella. "Dr. Cullen's like this foster dad slash matchmaker"
"Maybe he'll adopt me," Angela jokes with a smile.
"Who's he?" The four girls pull their eyes towards the last Cullen member. His bronze hair and pale complexion catch the eyes of Bella watching him with curiosity.
"That's Edward Cullen." Jessica gushes looking back at him. "He's totally gorgeous obviously, but apparently nobody here's good enough for him," She said with bitterness in her voice, picking at her food.
Edward briefly smiled, hearing their conversation as he walked by their table. "Like I care, you know." She finished with a headshake, clearly annoyed at his lack of interest in the girls in school. Including her.
Sure looks like it, Dylan thought sharing a look with Angela who was thinking the same. Edward chuckled to himself, hearing the younger Swan's thoughts as he sat down.
"Seriously, like, don't waste your time," Jessica advises with a laugh making Bella nod. "I wasn't planning on it," She said, then looked back at the beautiful group of people sitting there, keeping to themselves as usual.
Dylan continues to converse with her new friends, barely noticing Bella preoccupied on the table holding the Cullens. And when she does, Dylan also looks back, making eye contact with Alice. She politely smiles and gives a wave to her.
Not expecting the nice treatment from the new girl. Since everyone else gives her weird looks as labeled 'strange'. Alice waves back with a bright smile. Rosalie scoffed at the short-haired girl. Not liking the attention the human was giving them, with Alice feeding into it. Alice only shrugged and continued to focus back on Jasper.

Dylan walked to her last class of the day, History, and after being greeted by her teacher. She was told to sit next to the beautiful blonde, Rosalie. The Hale girl perfectly heard their conversation, over their peers. And couldn't help, but roll her eyes at the light brunette who smiled.
"Hi, I'm Dylan" The girl greetes, pulling the chair to sit beside her.
"Rosalie." She responded, not even sparing a look. Dylan's eyebrows furrowed, taken aback by her straightforward tone.
As the lesson continued, Dylan raised her hand here and there when the teacher asked for the answer. While writing some of the notes down, she had the urge to chew on something sweet. The girl reached down and unzipped the pocket of her bag, pulling out a pack of gum. Taking one, she decided to pull another, to give to the beautiful girl next to her, in hopes of breaking some tension.
Rosalie toned out the entire lesson, having learned this subject already. She grew bored and what she wanted was to be in the arms of her mate. However, that thought was put to a halt when she felt a light tap on her arm.
Annoyed, Rosalie turned her attention to the girl who held out the stick of gum. "Are you saying my breath smells?" She narrowed at her, watching as Dylan began to panic. Though it made the blonde slightly amused.
Dylan shook her head frantically. "Oh no, no, I was never implying that. I just wanted to give you a piece of gum, that's all." She explained, but seeing the girl beside her did not utter a single response back. Had Dylan slumped in her seat, noticing Rosalie was not going to take it from her. So she tried putting it back in the pack, but it was swiftly snatched by a pale hand.
The girl flinched from the motion, not expecting it. "It's watermelon flavored." She pointed to it. The light brunette tore off the wrapper of hers and placed the gum in her mouth. Chewing softly as the flavor expands all over her taste buds. Dylan looks over at the blonde, seeing the gum on the table, untouched.
"What?" Rosalie asked with a frown, watching the girl move her sight from the gum.
"Well, aren't you going to eat it?" Dylan questioned, tilting her head to the side.
The Hale girl rolled her eyes, "There's a thing called saving it for later." She was getting annoyed at the girl for not leaving her alone.
"Right, right," Dylan repeated, going back to writing more notes. As she was writing, from the corner of her eye, she noticed Rosalie not writing anything down.
"What now?" The blonde snapped, growing more annoyed at the human girl.
"Aren't you going to write notes? You haven't written a single word the entire time." She expressed with a curious glint in her blue eyes.
The blonde smirked, "I have excellent memory." quickly making up a lie. Priding herself to Dylan, though half of the lie was true. All thanks to studying the same material for decades, but the human sitting beside her, definitely didn't need to know that.
"That's something I wish I had," Dylan said, with a smile.
The final bell of the day rang and everyone started getting up from their seats. Dylan grabbed her journal and backpack, getting up from the chair.
"See you tomorrow Rosalie." Dylan gave a small wave at the blonde, who was up from her seat as well.
She watched the Swan girl leave the room and stood there puzzled by their interaction. She eyes the silver-wrapped gum on the table. Staring at it for a moment before shaking her head and leaving it there.
Dylan walked the halls of the school, scanning around in search of a familiar darkened brunette. Once she spots her sister heading inside the school office, she waits outside with her back leaning against the lockers.
While waiting, the doors burst open revealing an angered Edward. Storming out into the hallway, he notices Dylan as they make eye contact. The scent of her blood floods his nostrils and he immediately covers his nose, almost gagging. Dylan confusedly watched him hurriedly walk away without looking back.
She wasn't the only one feeling this way when Bella came out of the office doors. With a mixture of irritation and confusion written all over her face.
"What's his problem?" Dylan joined her sister's side, gesturing toward a hunched-looking Edward. Furthering himself away from them.
Bella sighed and gripped the strap of her bag. "I don't know, come on let's go"
