35 • Vows

Hyuna

The moon shone brightly and the wind caressed my cheek. It was cold and I was most certainly freezing but I could not care less.

I kicked the hem of my dress in annoyance and glared at the tall building in front of me. Can I just go through a night without a dream?

I knew how this dream will end, always to my demise. Then what? I will wake up drenched in sweat, and the harsh pounding on my head will come later. And oh, we cannot forget about the stupid pain I will experience on my stomach after I wake up, can we?

I was actually tired, tired of running away. But what else could I do? It was like this dream was crafted for my death, and no matter how I try, I will never find a way out of this. Who am I kidding?

I would probably be stuck in this dream once I am dead for real.

I decided to stay rooted on my ground until I wake up, half dreading the voices to come out which they never did. But the wind kept blowing, sending chills down to my core. I was visibly shaking, my feet were already numb from the frostbite but I refused to move.

I did not want to die.

Besides, I already knew how this dream will go. But what I did not expect was the girl who came running to me, looking extremely familiar.

"Princess!" She huffed when she reached me. She appeared to have been running around for a while as she rested her hands on her knees, wheezing for breaths, mists of white smoke materialised on thin air between each exhale.

"You should not disappear like that! It's not how a bride should act. Especially when the Mass is already starting!"

To my horror, I chuckled, it sounded foreign even to my ears. The velvety voice was undoubtedly my own, but it was even richer and polished.

"Ah, geurae? Mian, Juna-yah. I was a bit carried off."

The young girl pouted. "At least if you are planning to elope with Lord Dae, you should tell me. Mother has been breathing down on my neck for hours and I was even upset that I didn't know what you're planning."

I laughed and I felt like fainting. Why was this happening? Why can i not control myself?

"Lord Dae is a charming guy indeed, but I am not planning to elope with him. Although it's a good idea," I could feel myself grinning. Oh god. "I would rather do it with my groom."

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Before we could exchange any more words, the church bell rang three times, surprising both me and the girl. The girl turned panic, and she shoved something into my hands. When I looked down, it was a pair of white shoes, with intricate embroidery lacing it. It looked out of time, but it was beautiful.

"Your shoes, your highness. Please hurry, we can't be any more late."

I quickly slipped onto the shoes, thankful of the cover they gave me. I could feel the tiniest of heat on my soles as we ran to the main entrance.

I stopped her before she could push the doors open, and she looked at me with an anxious expression.

"How do I look?" I asked nervously and her gaze softened. She reached over and smoothed a stray hair and smiled.

"You look perfect princess, and i would like to thank you for marrying our youngest prince."

My grin widened and I nodded, she whispered me a good luck and pushed the door open.

The light blinded me for a second, and I squinted my eyes to let my eyes adjust. I was again, struck speechless.

I have always thought that I knew this dream better, but the bright chandeliers were radiant, lighting up the whole space giving it a hopeful effect. I did not notice how beautiful the interior of the church was, and the simple decorations for the wedding gave it an exquisite feeling.

I gasped at the sight in front of me. There were more people than I dreamt before, they were all dressed in the ways nobility would during the peak of Victorian era. The beautiful dresses sparkled under the chandelier lights, and the gentlemen looked charming. They were all smiling at me, and I swore I caught a few of them crying. Tears of happiness.

The slow piano sound drifted into my ears, and my feet moved as if it were rehearsed. I felt a smile on my face as I peered down, fresh rose petals were scattered on the aisle.

"Reminds me of you." A deep voice rang through my head and I brought my head up, staring at the most handsome man I had ever seen, who stood at the end of the isle, a huge smile was on his face.

My heart fluttered at the mere sight of him and I could not wait until I reached him, yet I kept on my pace, walking gracefully towards him.

When I was only an arm length away, he gave me his hand which, to my surprise I took without any second thought. His fingers felt cold against mine, but his touch burnt me, sending pleasurable tingles down my spine. I shook it away as he pulled me gently to stood beside him.

"You look beautiful." He said, voice ringing in my head yet his mouth remained smiling. In any normal circumstances, I would freak out, but this felt normal.

I grinned and his eyes raked down my body, meeting my eyes again halfway, with his darkened a few shade. "And ravishing. I can't wait to taste what's mine."

I blushed and he gave me his sexy boyish smile. We turned to the priest when it was time to say our vows.

"I, Dong Youngbae, pledge my undying love to you, Yuna as I invite you to share my eternal life with me. Now we feel no more rain, for each of us will shelter the other. Now there will be no more loneliness, for each of us will be companion for the other." He said, his eyes searching mine, which no doubt were filled with unshed tears. "There is only one life for me, and its the one with you. I promise to love, honour and cherish you, no matter what lies before us, for as long as our lives and the lives after. From this moment on, Yuna, you are mine."

I gulped, am I doing this?

"On this day, I give you my heart and my promise, that I will walk with you to wherever our journey leads us." Well, this had gotten serious. "I give to you my hands and heart, as a sanctuary of warmth and peace, and to pledge my love, devotions, faith and honour, as I join my life to yours." I recited, eyes heavy from the tears. Although it was too much for me, it felt natural and at the same time I was happy, as if I was waiting forever for this to happen. I took a shaky breath and reached up to touch his cheek. "From this moment on, Youngbae, I am yours."

"With the power given to me by the goddess, I proclaim you wedded husband and wife." The priest beamed, almost sounding too gleeful. "You may now kiss your bride."

The guy grinned and cupped my cheeks. He ran a thumb on a stray tear and dipped his head to me, lips catching mine for a long kiss.

I woke up breathless, feeling the tingling sensation on my lips until I realised that I also felt it on my body.

I jolted awake and tried to shake it out, but I could not get far, as if my body was on restraints. Well damn, I was so going to freak out. I was breathing heavily now, my mind was whirring past a lot of negative thoughts and none of them were helping in any way. Forget what I said in the dream, I did not want to die!

The restraints felt tighter on my upper body, and it the tingles became harder to ignore. It was painful and pleasuring at the same time. I was confused and my mind fleet to the situation i was in. Taken, I was taken from my apartment. They must be doing some weird sort of thing to me for me to feel this. I let out a strangled scream.

My screams became frantic, and I started to trash around. I felt my body being flipped so that I was lying on my back, a single restraint was keeping my hands secured and I felt a weight on my stomach. I kept my eyes closed as I struggled, wanting to be released, wanting to escape.

Then cold fingers grabbed my chin, I was surprised by the gentleness of my captor.

"Open your eyes Yuna."

Yuna, the name of the girl in which was married in the dream, my dream.

I peeled my eyes open just to see a pair of beautiful hazel staring back at me. Although it was dark, I could see the side outline of his face that was illuminated by the moonlight. Something struck me and my eyes widened. He was...

"Calm yourself, relax." He said, his deep voice soothed my nerves and I relaxed under him, my breathing turned normal as I continued to get lost in his eyes.

"Good." A tiniest bit of smile was etched on his face, his eyes glowing. "Now sleep, my love. We'll see each other in the morning."

My lids dropped and I was sucked into the abyss. For once since this madness began, I had a peaceful sleep.
