25 • The Beginning

"Speak." He said as the girl sat in front of him. Seungri stood at the door, silently guarding it should there will be anyone who 'accidently' stumbled into the reading room.

Youngji rolled her eyes as she smoothened her skirt down and crossed her legs. She looked around the room and Taeyang grumbled impatiently.

"Daesung said you can change the fate?"

She then looked at him incredulously. "No one can change the fate, Taeyang, especially yours. Congratulations for pissing the Fates." She said, not addressing him formally since she was his mate's best friend.

Before he could give her a mouthful, which she was sure he would, she raised one hand, successfully shutting him off. "However, I can make a little tweak."

He raised one brow. "A little tweak?"

She nodded and Seungri crossed his arms. She had their undivided attentions. No one could ever challenge the written fates, even the moon-blessed could not do anything. So what could a Seeress possibly do?

Taeyang closed his eyes and leaned his head on the headrest of his chair. Sending his thoughts over his beloved, whom was still unconscious, not aware that she was already in a different place from where she called home. Daesung was sitting next to her, watching her intensely. He had to fight his nagging monster from clawing out at the sight and pulled himself back into the room. When he opened his eyes, Youngji gasped and he knew for sure his eyes changed colours. Her reaction was undeniably satisfying. He savoured her fear.

"Y-yes. A little tweak." She stuttered, feeling intimidated by the surfacing monster. "As in cheating the Fates, a little bit."

He could practically hear her erratic heartbeats and he grinned, showing his elongated fangs. She shuddered as he leaned forward, propping his elbows on his knees. He stared at her, daring her to lift her gaze away, so that he could jump on her. She gulped and scooted away a bit. His eyes fell on her exposed neck and his teeth ached as he thought of the pain he will cause her if he pierces his fangs into that fragile neck of hers...

"Hyung, calm down."

He lazily turned his attention to his youngest friend who stood next to him. The guy seemed ready to hold him back if he were to lose control. Well Seungri was wrong. No matter how much he wanted to tear the girl apart, he was keeping her for something else. Perhaps after that...

"I was just playing around Seungri, chill." Taeyang grinned. His deep velvety voice resonated across the room as he chuckled. He casually leaned back and crossed his legs. He propped a hand on the armrest and tilted his head. His calculating gaze fell back on Youngji.

"Forgive me Seeress for being rude. It's hard to control myself when you're... unprotected." He chuckled. "So, what were you saying?"

"I found a way to deceive the Fates, as well as helping both of you to compromise in each other's presence without any of you getting hurt." She said in a hurry.

"Hmm?" Taeyang raised one brow and she frowned. She despised it when people doubt what she can do.

"If my theories were right, I could make a mix of your blood and as long as she have it with her, the Fates will be blinded, thinking that she was already sacrificed thus the pain will severs."

"The prophecies stated that she should be sacrificed. Why would you want hyung's blood too?"

She briefly glanced at him before she looked away. "Well unlike you the Fates believes in true love. There's hardly any nowadays, so why not take the chance?"

A splash of hurt flashed across Seungri's face before it was wiped away with his usual expression. But nothing escaped the prince's sharp eyes.

Seeing Taeyang's lack of response, Youngji thought that he might still not as convinced. "I've seen into her possible future, Taeyang. It wasn't as dark as it were in her past six lives. Just take the chance."

"Hyung," Daesung sat straighter as the voice rang into his head. He was still in the room staring at nothing when his friend spoke through the link. Gone was the cheerful voice, and it was replaced by concern. Daesung did not know which scared him most; the fact that Taeyang was back as he could feel his presence or that Seungri was worried. Seungri rarely worries.

"Seungri, whats wrong?"

He could feel the guy hesitating as he took a while to answer. "It's Taeyang hyung. He..."

Before he could finish his sentence the door flew open, revealing a girl with a crazy look on her face. Annoyed, Daesung sent her a glare.

"Did you not know how to knock?"

"Move away, shoo." Youngji said, shooing him from his spot. He growled then he spotted the shiny thing in her right hand.

"What are you planning to do with that?"

"Can you stop with the questions? I asked you to move away." She said and raised the dagger above Hyuna's form. Daesung's eyes widened and before she could do anything, he tackled her to the floor, knocking the dagger off her grasp. He hovered above her as she laid below him. His hands were around her neck, putting pressure as his eyes turned dangerously red.

"What the fuck you think you're doing?" He yelled.

"I need her blood!" Youngji wheezed out, trying to peel his fingers from their tight grip. "Daesung! I can't breathe-"

"No one touches her," He spat, "I'll kill you."

His words were not empty promises as he tightened his hold on her fragile neck to the point that his fingernails were drawing blood. He ignored her choking cries, even though she was turning blue. He did not notice that someone was screaming at him to stop and even tried to pull him off her. He wanted her blood as she had attempted to take Hyuna's.

"THAT'S ENOUGH." A voice boomed and Daesung was snapped out of his rage. He turned around to the door and saw Taeyang standing there looking pissed as ever.

"H-hyung." He breathed out and released his grip. Seungri was next to her in a second, helping her to sit up, comforting the crying girl. He felt guilty when he saw the red prints against her fair skin, no doubt it was going to bruise. But then he remembered what she tried to do.

"She tried to kill Hyuna."

Taeyang's eyes flickered to Youngji who sat on the bed with Seungri beside her, covering her from Daesung.

"No she wasn't. She was trying to help us."

"What?"

A soft moan was heard and they stopped talking. All eyes were trained on Hyuna who was occupying the big bed by herself. She was starting to breathe heavily, her chest rose and dropped in a fast pace. Small gasps left her pink lips and cold sweats started to form on her forehead.

"The curse." Taeyang said, his voice hoarse. It was hard to watch her suffering so much when he could not do anything. He was not a big believer on the moon goddess and he doubt right then what they were about to do was going to please her but he had hopes. Perhaps she would let him go just this once. After all, they have been tortured for centuries.

"It's starting. Youngji, do it."

The girl jumped from her seat onto the floor where the dagger was and ran to the other side of the bed. Daesung's eyes widened again but before he could do anything Seungri was already in front of him, straining him from doing anything.

"Hyung, have you lost your mind!" He yelled, trying to free himself from Seungri's hold.

Taeyang watched him with remorse in his eyes, his hands were balled in fists as his eyes switched back to Youngji who was speaking softly in tongues. She had Hyuna's hand with her palm up, and after she finished her chant she sliced on Hyuna's skin swiftly. Dark red pooled and trickled down, staining the sheets. The smell of metallic filled the room and the three vampires took a lungful, fangs drawn out as their predator nature came to surface.

"Stand down." Taeyang warned and his friends froze on their spot, not daring to move their foot even an inch in fear that they might come across their prince's words, even though their gums ached.

Their focus were solely on Youngji and Hyuna, as Youngji pulled out a white pendant from her dress pocket and dipped it into Hyuna's blood, coating it red. She cupped her hand on top of Hyuna's and closed her eyes. She began to mumble inaudibly and as she did, the pendant glowed from under their palms. As fast as it started, the glowing disappeared leaving an astonished Daesung gaping as the scene enfolded before him.

Youngji took a deep breath and opened her eyes, scanning at the guys, her gaze lingered just a second longer at Seungri before looking back at her hands. She slowly took off her hand and stared at the pendant that was coated with her friend's blood. Her eyes widened.

"It... It worked." She barely whispered. Tears pricked as she took the pendant and placed Hyuna's hand back onto the bed. She brought two pieces of cloth, one she used to wrap Hyuna's palm while the other she used to wipe the blood off the pendant.

She walked toward the prince, ignoring the other guy's eyes that were burning holes on her.

"Here you go, your majesty. Make sure she wears this at all time. I'm not sure how it'll work out, but since my first theory was right, I guess it will be fine as long as you do not push a mark on her. Remember, the curse isn't broken, it is simply put to numb. The Fates will notice something's wrong but until then I will try my best to find way to mend the curse." She said in a hurry, then added in a soft tone, "I'll be back, please take care of her for me."

Then she ran out. After snapping out from his stance, Seungri ran after her, using his vampire speed. But a while later, they felt his frustration. Guess she managed to escape from him, again.

"What did you do to her?"

Taeyang brought his eyes up from the crimson pendant to the guy who looked lost. He almost felt sorry for Daesung, but Hyuna was his mate, not Daesung's. And he will act like it from now on. He had been away from her for too long.

He stepped closer to the bed, half expecting her to trash around in pain but she was nothing but calm. Her wrapped hand rested on her stomach and gone was the painful expression she wore just a few moments before.

"I found a way for us to be together again." He spoke in a soft voice, as if he was afraid that he will wake her up from her sleep. He doubted that she ever had a blissful sleep before. Before he knew it his hand were touching her unhurt one, the heat and sparks that he missed so much gave him shiver. He covered her small hand between his large ones and sat beside her.

He vaguely heard shuffling on his back but he knew when Daesung had seen himself out, closing the door behind him quietly.

Taeyang smiled as his eyes filled with unshed tears. He dug one hand into the pocket of his pants and brought a silver chain. Contrary on the belief, silver do not burn vampires, in fact he liked it quite nice. He attached the pendant with the chain and clasped it around Hyuna's neck. It sparkled when it touched her skin.

He placed a lingering kiss on her head.

"We'll finally meet again, Yuna."
