19 • I Never Told You

It was dark around her and she was floating. She assumed it because when her eyes darted downcast, there was nothing there. Everything seemed like a black hole and she was trapped in it. But although her surrounding was dark, she could see herself pretty well, like she was emitting light. She stood there for a while unsure of what to do until she felt her neck prickled. She twirled instantly on her feet and now the wind blew softly on her chin. She brought up a hand and as if proving it, the wind caressed her wrist, creating a trail of goosebumps on her skin.

She used the wind to lead her as she walked. She did not stop until there was a huge oak double doors standing before her. It was adorned with gleaming sapphires and engravings that somehow looked like dozens of half moon. It looked both weird and fascinating at the same time. The double doors was slightly opened, grey smoke oozed from behind the doors and vapored into nothingness when it reached the other side, creating a gradient as it contrasted with the never ending black space around her. Feeling curious, she stepped forward and the wind felt a bit stronger now, seeping through the crack between the doors. It could be her escape, and she was already reaching for the knob as the intense feeling of uneasiness creeped inside her. She retreated her reaching fingers as she contemplated whether she should open the door or not. Her heart thumped faster and she could feel the blood rushing as something flashed through her mind.

She was scared.

But why would she?

It felt like eternity then someone shook her shoulder. A small gasp left her lips as she slowly peeled her eyes open, staring straight into bright blue ones. She blinked a few times before she snapped her eyes open, shoving the guy away in the process. Panic rose as she looked around her, eyes wide like a scared mouse.

"Shh, calm down, it's just me." The blue eyed guy said, reaching out to her, but she cowered away and he pulled his hand back. "Okay, okay, I won't do anything."

Her voice found its way back to her, and finally she could scream for help. But she did not, not when she saw what he did to her. She did not know what else he was capable of, and as much as death was painful, she rather present herself to it and escape this man instead.

"You lied to me." She said, her voice wavered a bit, and he sighed.

"No Hyuna, I did not. I simply put you to sleep because you are in danger. I needed to get you to somewhere safe."

"I don't need your help. Not now, not ever." She replied harshly.

He fell quiet at her reply, and looked at her with emotions clouding his eyes. Suddenly he turned his head abruptly and Hyuna followed his gaze, it was when she realized they were in a completely different place.

"Where am I?" She whispered, taking in the enormous building in front of her, light gleaming from behind a few of large windows.

"Hyuna, what I am about to show you... what you are about to see... please do not freak out, okay? Please understand..."

She could not hear him after that. Her palms suddenly felt clammy and her forehead were glistening with cold sweats. She tore her eyes from the guy next to her even though she should be watching his moves, and fixed her eyes to what it seemed like an entrance to the massive castle. The world around her was spinning as the voices she was afraid of started to scream simultaneously inside her head.

She let out a few shaky breath and brought her hands up to her ears.

Then she screamed.

Daesung's POV

I did not notice how things were getting out of hands. My hands. I thought I got it covered. It was easy, okay not really, but still it was not that hard to get her to the castle although I admit I managed it in the most ungentlemanly way possible.

The whole car ride was silent, with Hyuna's sleeping. I had to put her to sleep because I didn't want her to struggle under my power, it would be hard to deal with, especially when I am driving. Okay, maybe I should tell her about her existence before we come here, but it wasn't like I have enough time, right?

When I reached the castle, I felt something odd. I scanned the parking area and noticed Taeyang hyung's black Audi r8 at the corner of the parking lot. He must've arrived then. I darted my eyes to the sleeping girl next to me. She looked peaceful to say the least. Her lashes looked wet and I remembered that she dozed off while she was crying. I sighed. This guilt will be eating me alive.

It was my fault. If only I come a little bit earlier than I did, she wouldn't have to face Zachary by herself. I slumped on the leather seat. I promised her. I fucking promised her, yet I keep failing her. What kind of man am I for not being able to keep such simple promise?

I was sitting on a chair in the empty kitchen, staring at what once was a steaming mug of coffee, now turned cold. Still untouched. My mind was occupied by a lot of things. Especially the thing that had kept me awake most nights. The same thing that had made me turned against my friend, my brother; my Prince.

I sighed as my thought switched to the things that we've discussed earlier in Taeyang hyung's reading room, when Yuna was out shopping with Youngji for the coming Blood Moon festival.

I remembered that Taeyang hyung had disagree with the girls' plan. He said that it wasn't ideal for the prince's betrothed to go out roaming on the street and buying things without the company of servants and guards. But Yuna insisted. She said that she need a 'girl's time' with her best friend before she become a wife. Their conversation was pretty heated, until Yuna turned the tables by kissing Taeyang hyung hard and managed to shut him up. Youngji had this big smug on her face, while I, have to struggle to calm my own heart before hyung noticed. In the end, hyung grumpily agreed to let them to have their precious 'girl's time'. Yuna literally jumped up and down in glee and her scent bloomed into bright red with pinkish streaks as she ran outside to the carriage with Youngji in tow. I can't help but to smile, but Taeyang hyung must've noticed then.

Because after that we kind of had our most bad conversation, ever.

"Daesungie." That voice shocked me, just before a pair of lean arms hugged me from the back. I was stunned for a while before I snapped out of it and gently peeled them off me.

Yuna frowned, a small crease formed between her eyebrows as she stood straighter.

"Is there anything wrong?" Her voice soft and laced with concern as she stared at me, probably looking for any sign of problem.

I shook my head. This is where hyung's order came to play.

"No, Yuna. Did you have a good time?"

She opened her mouth and was about to answer when a shrill voice cut her off.

"Yah, just because you are the Prince's fiancé, doesn't mean you can leave me to take alllllllll the boxes!" Youngji yelled from the front door.

Yuna chuckled and took a step to her bestfriend who was probably cursing at the heavy boxes of things they bought together. But before walking out of the kitchen, she looked back at me.

"Are you sure you're okay?

I nodded and smiled.

"Yes."

She returned with a smile of her own, and even that can make my pulse quicken. She turned around and walked away.

"Wait, Yuna."

She looked by her shoulder to meet my gaze.

"You know I wouldn't let any harm come to you, right?"

She stared at me, probably trying to figure out what was the meaning behind my words. Then she smiled at me, wider than before, one that flashes her teeth.

"Of course." And she walked away.

I sighed as the memory came like a flood. I shook my head, Hyuna was right here beside me. Although I might have failed her numerous times before, I won't make the same mistake again. Ever. This was my last shot. A final one to prove myself to her. I turned to her, still sleeping beside me, and brought a hand to her shoulder. I shook her gently.

"Hey." I said, softly so that I wouldn't freak her out.

She angled her face a bit that she was facing me. Slowly her eyes were opened and a second later it widened. She slapped my hand off and shoved me away, as she sat straighter, her back pressed on the door as she looked around her.

"Shh, calm down, it's just me." I said. She was afraid, I can see it on her scent. My hand automatically drew out to her but she swatted it away, and she scooted back farther if it was even possible.

Just great, Dae. How are you going to fulfill your promise if she's scared of you?

"You lied to me." She whispered, but I heard it loud and clear. I sighed.

"No Hyuna, I did not. I simply put you to sleep because you are in danger. I needed to get you to somewhere safe."

"I don't need your help. Not now, not ever." She bit back harshly.

Well that hurt. It felt like a thousand of bricks ran down upon me. The sort of pain that won't kill me, but leave me breathless and thinking why can't I just die instead.

Just kidding. I'm exaggerating.

But in all seriousness, she's my responsibility. Taeyang would be against me with this, but she's as important to me as she was to him. I'd trade everything, I mean everything for her.

I felt a ruckus in my head. I heard it. I'd thought it belonged to random person, but it was strong, strong enough to make any vamp who was aware of it shaking in fear. I trailed my eyes from the petite form beside me and stared right to the entrance of the massive castle. The feeling was stronger now, what exactly happened in there?

"Where am I?" A small voice said beside me. I turned to her just to see that she was already looking out, awed by the foreign building, which I'm sure she hadn't seen like that anywhere in Korea before.

Oh frick, I totally forgot I haven't told her anything. Goddess! Her scent was changing. She's so gonna freak out on me.

"Hyuna, what I am about to show you..." I started, drawling off my words, trying to figure out how to say this without anyone getting hurt. "What you are about to see... please do not freak out, okay? Please understand..."

Then she screamed, a high pitched scream that filled the small space instantly and was hurting my ears. Her veins were popping out, and I was worried that she might hurt herself. She started to slap her ears until it turned deep red and I shot out immediately to stop her, but I withdrew my hands as fast.

Why was she burning? I looked down to my palms expecting myself to get a third degree burn, but there was nothing. I felt my eyes bulging out as I looked at her again, she was hitting herself and even scratching herself, to the point that she was drawing blood. I grabbed her arms again, straining her from hurting herself as I ignored the burning I felt where I touched her.

"Hyuna!" I yelled, pushing her hard into the leather seat as her feet started kicking the dashboard. I mentally groaned, Jiyoung hyung would kill me later.

Then she stopped screaming and moving. I don't know if I should feel glad that she stopped hurting herself, because she turned red in a second. She wasn't even screaming, yet her veins were popping out. Her eyes found mine and I saw desperation swirling in them.

"Hyuna?" My voice sounded small.

She was having hard time breathing now, as it became short and shallow. I let her arms go, and touched her cheek. She wasn't as hot now, and her cheek was cold. But she was shaking, and those eyes were begging me to do something I didn't know what.

"No." I said once I noticed what was happening. Her eyes seemed droopy and her heartbeat wasn't as strong. I shook her shoulder and her head lolled to the side, meeting the window with a soft thud.

"No, Hyuna." I croaked out, tears started pricking my eyes.

I lost her.

***

Welp! Sorry, I just had to do that.

Laptop broke last Wednesday and i legit freaked out. I was like, crying and laughing at the same time because i had a report due the next day and i had just started the introduction when my baby blacked out. Like completely. I tried turning it on and on and on and on (ViXX reference), even watched YouTube videos on how to fix it myself (yes, I tried to fix my laptop, me, a girl who didnt know any shit about laptop problems) but at the end of the day i cried more because i thought i wouldnt be able to use my laptop again and that i had to waste more money to buy a new laptop (i spend a lot on food, sue me) and i thought i would have to re-write this chapter again (i had this chapter half done by then)

The next afternoon, i rushed to the PC shop after my language class and asked them about the problems. The thing was, it was the result of getting my laptop updated. I told the guy that my laptop auto-updated itself (yep my baby has a mind on its own) and he told me that thats the downfall of win10. Apparently win10 has a lot of updates (that little fucker)

Now im back with win8 (i updated my windows a while ago, and sadly im fond of how win10 was like...win8 looks old....to me) and i promised myself that once i get my laptop back Id upload this chapter as soon as i can. But then assignments happened -,-

So there goes my little rant. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Ill get back to you guys....soon.... until then,,
