Daesung’s PoV

“I’m going out for a while. Hyunbin please take care of Hyuna. I’ll come back later.” Jihyun smiled a little and walked out of the room.

As soon as I heard the door closed, I let my cover down. I was back from being the cleaning dude to the idol in a second. It was the longest time I had to stay in my cover in my entire life, Jiyong hyung would probably be proud.

I started to think I’m beginning to suck on shape shifting when I realized my cover melted when I saw Hyuna the other night, but seeing that I tricked Jihyun that easily...

We, vampires would get the shape shifting abilities once we reach certain age, which is common in 100 years, vampire age, though some of the vampire kids get this ability as early as 50 years, like Jiyong hyung.

We tricked human with this ability, and it helped a lot in our feeding. We often use blood substitute, but it didn’t stay long like the real blood does, so feeding on human was a must.

The human would see us as the way we want them to, and most of us preferred to change into bats. I honestly don’t know what’s fun being one of those winged creatures. We can teleport for goddess’s sake, though only in the same town and stuff.

Back to the main point, we can trick human, but not vampire hunters. They were given the see-through gift, which means they could see through a vampire’s cover. Its what makes their job easier, since no vampires could hide from them. But we could smell them too. And that’s why I don’t think her as one of them.

I didn’t smell any hunter’s smell on her, in fact her scent was literally the same as those in her past lives, and my eyes were never wrong. But to think that my cover did not work with her...

I stared at the sleeping form of Hyuna, her chest raised and fell slowly in steady breaths, she looked peaceful at least, not the way she was this afternoon.

What did she do to make her deserve things like this happened to her? Not once in her past seven life had she lived quietly, it always ended in tragedy.

I sighed.

She was in love with Taeyang hyung even when she shouldn’t. And I never saw Taeyang actually smiled after she vanished on her first life. It wasn’t fair for both of them to get such fate, and she was the one who suffered the most.

And I promised her that I would protect her. But how many times have I failed? I know she doesn’t remember anything about it, but I have seen her died with a smile before. She looked like she didn’t regret anything; her mate, and her countless encounters with me, her friend.

I touched her cold hand and brought it to my cheek. I will kill to see her smile again, even if that means I’ll have to lose my own life. She mattered that much.

I wrapped her hand with mine and rested my head on them, thinking of the possible ways I could do to settle this unending problems.

Maybe I could bring her far from here, to where no one can find us. She would understand, I’m sure she would. Even though she might not see Taeyang hyung anymore. But I can’t do that, can I? Either way she will die.

My phone rang.

I fished it out of my pocket and looked at the caller ID.

“Yeoboseyo?”

“Hey Dae. Listen, I need you to listen carefully ‘cause I’m not going to repeat this twice..” the voice said. I trailed my eyes to Hyuna who was sleeping soundly before I stood up and walked out of the room. I closed the door behind me quietly.

“Ne, hyung?”

“Listen.. I need you to bring Yuna to somewhere safe as soon as you can. The Palace, if you can. Jiyong is coming over with Royal guards, so I need you to be alert. I have a feeling that something bad is about to happen.”

I bit my lip as he said that, thinking whether I should or not tell him what happened to Hyuna at the garden.

“Dae?”

“Hyung, I think Zachary is behind all this. He attacked her at the garden.” I finally made up my mind to tell him. He had the right to know.

“Shit, I should’ve known.” He replied harshly.

“Is she okay?” he added softly.

“Yes. She’s still breathing.” I leaned back on door.

“I’m counting on you to take care of her, Dae.” and he hung up.
