She jolted up, gasping desperately for air. Her heart was beating like crazy and her head was dizzy. She slumped back and wait until the dizziness subsided a bit before reaching out for her phone.
3 a.m.
She only slept for 2 hours and she had lived and died, again. She closed her eyes and calmed her heart. She took deep breathes, and noticed the faint damp smell of the forest were lingering in her room. Or was it her nose?
It was only then she felt the pain at the back of her head. The exploding sensations. Though it wasn't as painful like it has always been in the dream, it still hurt. She placed her palm on her forehead. The pain slowly faded and she felt thirsty.
Feeling slightly dizzy again, she swung her legs out from beneath the covers and stood up, swaying a little. She steadied herself and walked out of her room.
Her apartment was little, but it was everything she ever wanted. The kitchen and living room was only separated by a little dining table in the middle. One bedroom with a bathroom, and a laundry room next to her bedroom, she thought it was perfect.
After all, where else could she go? She was an orphan, set out to face the big world by herself. She didn't have any relatives, it was always her father, mother and herself. So when her parents died, she was sent to the orphanage house.
When she first came to the orphanage, she was dreaded by the thoughts of living at a foreign place. True enough, two days after her arrival, a couple came and tried to adopt her. She screamed cuss words and threw all kind of things to them her hands could grasp. The couple left, shaking their heads at how insolent and immature Hyuna was.
The next morning, the managements had to keep her detained at a separate room because she tried to pull a girl's hair off of her head. Of course, Eun Jung had cried her eyes out and the reports said that Hyuna was the one who started the fight. None of the stories were right.
They didn't know what Eun Jung and her friends said to her at the first hand though. Not that the managements minded at all.
And that's how she became an outcast, always kept to herself, not befriending anyone except Ji Hyun eonnie.
Ji Hyun was an orphan too. Her father died when she was still in her mother's womb. When her mother finally gave birth to her, she left Ji Hyun at the orphanage. Everyone knew that story, but Ji Hyun was anything but sad. She believed that everything happened for a reason. She saw the good in everything and always happy, just like she saw the good in Hyuna when nobody does.
When Ji Hyun left, Hyuna was all alone again but she kept her promise and called Hyuna every once in a while. Ji Hyun told Hyuna that she met a nice guy and got engaged to him. He opened the café for Ji Hyun, and when Hyuna could finally live her own life, Ji Hyun waste no time to ask her to work with her.
She stayed at Ji Hyun and Jong Hyun's place for a while. And though the couples always said that she was more than welcomed to stay as long as she wanted to, Hyuna insisted on finding her own place.
Finally last month, on the Sixth of June which was her 21th birthday, Ji Hyun gave her the keys to her new apartment. She told her that it was a gift, from a sister to her dongsaeng.
Running a hand through her long black hair, she opened the mini fridge and took a bottled water. Something licked her leg as her drank deeply making her pause and looked down.
"Oh, hello Minki." She put the bottle back in the fridge and closed it.
She crouched down and patted her Norfolk Terrier as he licked her palm.
"Did I woke you up?" she said. "Sorry Minki, I'm having that dream again." She added in a hushed tone.
Minki's ear perked up as he turned to the other direction. Snarling, Minki ran to the door and barked.
"What is it boy? Do you want to go out?" Hyuna trailed after him. Minki barked louder, and Hyuna started to get worried he might wake up the neighbors. That grumpy Mr. Lee next door wasn't so fond of her dog.
"Hush, boy. You may wake the neighbors." She crouched down and ran her palm on Minki's back, trying to calm him down.
She caught a moving shadow under the gap of her door and floor, like someone was pacing at the corridor, just in front of her apartment door. Minki stepped back, whimpering.
"Who's there?" She asked loudly to the wooden door.
That someone stopped pacing and the shadow indicated that he was now standing in front of her door.
She stiffened and she started to get goosebumps. Who the hell would stand in front of a girl's house at 3am in the morning? Either it's a ghost or a serial rapist. And she's not happy with the latter.
After for what it seemed like eternity, the shadow moved to the left and disappeared from her view. She slowly reached for the door handle and twisted it, opening it just a crack. She cringed at the sound of her hinges, and as she made a mental note to oil it tomorrow, she peeked through the gap.
No one.
She opened the door wider and poked her head to the corridor. The smell of musky-man's cologne attacked her nose, and it was enough to prove that someone was just there. But the coasts was all clear.
She sighed, reminding herself to talk to the night guard later if he saw anyone suspicious coming in the building.
She felt something brushed against her legs and before she knew it, Minki sprinted out of the apartment to the corridor.
Hyuna panicked.
Not caring to grab a coat she ran after her dog who was running to the staircase.
"Minki!" She called in a hushed tone. "Minki, come back here boy."
She arrived at the staircase and saw Minki hopping his little legs down the stairs. Hyuna groaned. She called and called but Minki ignored her and kept running.
Just when she arrived at the lobby she panicked again. Minki was nowhere to be seen.
"Minki?" She called. She ran to the front door and called again.
Not a sight of him.
Tears started to welled up and she hugged herself. She was wearing a tee and shorts, and they did nothing to protect her from the cold morning air.
"Minki..." Her voice trembled. He was her only companion, she found him lurking in the bushes near the apartment on the second day she moved in. And she took him straight in. But now he's gone.
She sniffed.
"Is this yours?"
She turned her head to the source of the voice.
The first thing she noticed was his eyes. It wasn't the normal pair of hazel or dark like the normal color you could see in every Korean, instead they were pale blue, and they looked shiny under the streetlights. He was cradling a white thing-
"Minki!" She gasped and ran to the stranger. He put him onto her open hands and she hugged him tightly.
"Minki you naughty! Don't ever run away like that again, you hear me?" She scolded.
He chuckled. "You should put a collar on him. I thought he was a stray. I would've take him home if you didn't came out." He patted Minki's head.
Hyuna's eyes automatically darted to him, suddenly aware how close they were. She stepped away and eyed the guy from head to toe.
"Who are you?" She asked, taking in the guy's appearance. White hair, goofy smile.. Well, he did look kind of familiar.
"Well, I guess I have to introduce myself now, right?" He smiled kindly. "I'm Daesung."
She narrowed her eyes at him. She'd saw him anywhere but she couldn't remember when or where.
As listening to her thoughts, he ran his fingers through his white hair nervously. "No you don't know me. And you never seen me. You're mistaken. I-I should probably go, hyung would be mad if I don't." He turned to leave.
"Wait!" Hyuna said. Daesung stopped mid-step and glanced over his shoulder. "Thank you, for saving Minki."
He smiled. "Anything for milady."
Hyuna flopped down at her mattress and sighed tiredly. Minki struggled out from her hug and curled up next to her.
"Minki, don't ever do that again. You're giving me heart attack." She said, pulling one of Minki's hairy ear. He replied with a 'woof' and lie down.
She smiled. "G'night too Minki." and she dozed off.

So I decided to put up another chapter.
As you can see, I'm using Kpop characters and it's not making any sense if I do not include a little of Korean language. Here we go;
Unnie- older sister
Dongsaeng- younger sibling
I'm not Korean, but I do watch Korean movies and dramas (I have bias among the idols too :p). So if this information is not right, please do not hesitate to correct me.
And sorry for any errors in spellings and grammars :)
(And oh, I made some changes on the prologue.)
Hope you guys enjoy this, though.
Vote, and comment. It'll mean the world to me :)
