The First Part Set Outside Wonderland

The Deejay at Isabella's mansion party was out of this world. Well, she was rich, so she didn't have to hire her cousin.

"OMG!!!!" Shouted my best friend Livvie over the crashing music. "You have to try the bungee jump station! It's awesome! Come on! We never get to go to rich people's places! Let's make the most of it!" She slurred.

"Livvie, I want to get some food. I'll meet you there in a minute." I told her. Truthfully, I didn't want to go at all. I just had a crippling fear of heights, and a strong love of quesadillas. The Mexican Station was calling my name!

"Alright, alright. A minute." Livvie wobbled. Maybe she shouldn't be bungee jumping.

I headed over to the Mexican station to stuff my face. I was second on line, besides a tall, handsome guy. But he was annoying me. The dude couldn't decide if he wanted chicken in his quesadilla or not, for like, 10 minutes. He eventually opted for chicken, but by that time I had no desire to talk to him.

"Hola." The girl working the station said in the fakest accent I had ever heard.

"️Cheese quesadilla, no guac." I told her absentmindedly.

"Hey, princess priss, how 'bout a few manners?" She insulted me.

"I'm no princess. Just give me the quesadilla, please. Drama Queen." I muttered the last part under my breath, but she heard it anyways.

She gave it to me with extra guacamole. I was allergic to avocados, so it went in the trash. I wasn't that hungry anyways.

As I reluctantly headed over to bungee jump, a girl in the coolest clothes imaginable tapped my shoulder. Isabella, the hostess.

"Hey, Amalia." She greeted me with a lackluster smile. I was only invited because I saved her in math class when she got caught cheating off Derrick Wilkes. I felt guilty, but now that I was here, I didn't feel that guilty.

"Great party, Isabella. Where did you find the Deejay?"

"Eh, he does Iggy Azalea's parties. She has a concert tonight, you know the deal." I didn't. You see, Isabella is the richest girl in town, maybe even the state. To her, money was nothing. She got back stage passes and front row seats to Sam Smith once. That day? I just about turned as green as my old, beat up van with envy. Sam Smith was my absolute favorite, and Isabella only knew two of his songs.

"Great. I love Iggy!" I said, trying to mask my jealousy.

"Hey Amalia? Thanks for covering for me in math class. Do you wanna try out the indoor water slide? Me and my friends are having a contest." I had to admit that sounded really fun. A lot more fun than bungee jumping did.

"Hmmmm..." I didn't want to blow Livvie off, but it was her fault she had somehow forgotten my fear of heights. Sliding wouldn't take long anyways.

"Sure! I would love to, Isabella! Thanks." She pulled over Hanna and Tori, her two best friends.

"Let's have some fun." She decided.
---------------
As I headed for the water slides, I saw Livvie bungee jumping and screaming her head off. I didn't miss anything.

"And here they are!" Isabella proudly presented the slippery slopes. We had to grab a tube and head up a long flight of blue stairs.

At the top, there were two snaking slides of equal length. I had a brilliant idea.

"Let's split up into two teams of two people each and race down the slides!" I exclaimed.

"I'll be with Tori!" Isabella pulled her tan friend into her bright orange inflated tube. That meant I was with Hanna. Hanna didn't look so happy about the teams, but I didn't care. I just wanted to win.

As soon as we went down in the tube, I knew this was the best part of the night for sure. The water splashed me and soaked my hair, which Hanna whined about, there were bumps and sharp turns, and it just got faster and faster, basically defying Newtons laws as we soared.

Then, we came to the part that made me scream. There was a drop off, fifty feet to the bottom. This we approached slowly, almost serenely, and for a second, I felt perfectly calm. Maybe now I would finally get over my fears, laugh at them even. Nothing could stop me now, though. There was no way out of the tube and we inched closer, closer-

"Ahhhhhhghhfgjffyjfhjsodhevejduekjehrbdiel!" I yelped without even breathing. I thought the drop would never end, so when it did two seconds later, I was stunned.

"I survived!" I fist bumped Hanna, who looked pretty shaken up. And guess who came rocketing off the slide a few seconds after we did? Isabella and Tori. Which meant that we won, and had bragging rights for the rest of our lives!

"It's just a slide, you guys, who cares if you won?" Mumbled Tori, the official sore loser.

"We do!" Hanna gave me a high five this time. This had been the best time ever, but something was still bothering me-

"Livvie! I gotta go, you guys. Thanks, Isabella!" I rushed off to find Livvie. She was going to kill me. If, of course, she remembered my promise.

Livvie was still at bungee jumping, and when I got there, she was glaring daggers at me. Whoops?

"I saw you having fun with the popular girls. So, as soon as they talk to you, it's fine to ditch me, right, Amalia?"

"I'm sorry, Livvie, I just didn't want to bungee jump. I don't like heights. It's you who's being a bad friend, not caring at all about what I want to do?! I'm the only reason you got an invitation!" I knew I was jumping around and saying unreasonable things, but was it too much just to have a great time? Well, I didn't think so.

"Well, then, it's a good thing I didn't get a chance to remind you of the math test we're having tomorrow because you blew me off. Get your own ride home."

Oh. Em. Gee.

The test was tomorrow. And I hadn't studied at all.

I checked my watch. It was 4 o'clock in the morning already?!? I had to wake up at six!

I was in trouble.
