Backstory: he wasn't always mute, he had a mom and a dad. A great life, great friends until one night when his family weren't coming back from watching a movie. They were walking down the streets when they got jumped. His mother was knocked out and dragged away to a large black van while his father was strangled and killed, as for Jade his neck was cut open. He was able to run and make it a few blocks before passing out. Luckily someone saw him and called 911, he woke up in the hospital unable to talk since he vocal cords where cut. After a month he was able to go back in the world.
