'The Cove,' I say like I know what that means 'Cool.' I nod my head in a sort of approval. I look around at the blank white landscape again and only now do I realise that that steady moving thing was the soft, yellow light slowly rotating and beaming out of a distant lighthouse.

'You have no idea where we are, do you?' Claude asks me with a blunt voice.

'No clue.' I admit, stopping the nodding of my head.

He sighs, but not in a way as if to say he was irritated or disappointed. More like he was getting ready to tell a long story and instead of taking in a deep breath, he let it out. He sits down on the turquoise grass so I do too and I can feel it through my clothes. It wasn't soft and fresh like normal grass at all; It felt a bit prickly and dead. That must be why it was such a deep turquoise colour even if I could have sworn grass turned faintly golden when it dies, like hay. It looked like we were on the set of a Tim Burton movie, with the dark grass and milky sky.

'You know this town is called Limeshard Cove, right?' I see him ripping at a few strands of grass.

'Yeah, I know that.' I scoff like I was proving to him that I wasn't dumb.

'Do you know why it's called that?' He sounded like a teacher. It was patronising.

'What are you trying to say?'

'Do you want to know why this place is called Limeshard Cove?' His teacher-sounding voice was starting to bug me.

'Lemme guess, is it because of this cove?'

'Bingo!' he clapped and praised 'Very good!'

'So we're here because?' It's my turn to ask him questions. He chuckles and lies down on his back. Ouch, I thought, Can't he feel it? Then I remembered what we were again. Probably not then. That one seagull shrieks again and this time we hear another one from a mile away, then everything goes quiet. The unsettling silence is disturbed by a loud and abrupt foghorn that must have emanated from a small ship floating near the foot of the cliff.

Claude nuzzles closer to me after he spots me jumping because of the sudden sound and slowly wedges his arm under my head so I could lean on it. 'It's nice here, isn't it?'

I reply honestly 'I mean if you forget about the annoying birds and loud boats then I'd say it's a really peaceful place. Good for clearing the mind, I guess.'

He chuckles as he sits back up again 'Well, you aren't wrong about that.' He stares wistfully into the distance like he's in a dramatic music video, deep in thought. In this time, I sit up too. My head rests on his shoulder as I watch him gaze out a little longer and notice a change in his expression. 'This is where we first met.'

'What? No way!' I'm in disbelief, not because he was wrong, but because there was no way he still remembered. 'You serious? We met here?'

'Don't you remember?' he asked me so casually, then he turned to face me and started laughing 'Maybe not, I mean, we were only 2-year-olds. Well actually I was 3- it was my birthday that day.'

'Nope. Still not remembering. My memory's not as good as yours.' I cross my legs and place my hands on them, straightening my posture and beaming back at him 'Tell me about that day.'

He raised his eyebrow, not expecting me to be so eager 'You sure?' I nodded frantically 'Well if you insist...You already know about our moms being friends so I don't have to tell you about that then. And also the fact that we probably met before as well, like little visits. But this is where we formally met, you know, like introductions and everything.'

'Like names and stuff, right?' I suggest.

'Yeah, exactly!' He replied and giggled for a moment, a cute giggle 'You threw a muffin at me.'

My cheeks tingle 'Really? I did?' Then I begin to recall. 'Oh! It was that birthday party! I sort of remember now... And, FYI, I only threw that muffin at you because you called me a dummy!'

'I called you a dummy because you thought this cliff was a high dive and you were about to jump when everyone busy!'

'I was 2, what do you expect?' I argue and Claude laughs even harder. He falls back flat on the ground but I'm still sat up 'I'm starting to remember that day. My dad caught me before I could run off to the edge of the cliff and brought me back to the picnic mats. Your party was a picnic, wasn't it?' Claude nodded 'But this place looks different now, I don't know why. I just picture it different in my mind...I could have sworn it was sunnier.'

'Everything was sunnier back the, wasn't it? When your parents were still-'

'Yeah.' I quickly cut him off before he could finish his sentence. But even if I hadn't, I doubt he would have finished it anyway. He places his hand on mine in an attempt to comfort me, his hand felt colder than usual. 'I think we should leave now.'

'Why? Is it bothering you?' He looked up at me from the ground with frightened eyes and steadily began to rise from it. He brushed off the grass that clung to his butt and back. I unfold my legs and tug at his jeans near the back of his knee, indicating him to stay still.

'No, it's not that. I just thought you were feeling cold.'

'Cold? Me?' The corner of his mouth shifted up slightly in a sort of half grin 'I don't feel cold, Simmons. Not ever.' Then he looks down at me and holds out his arm 'Are you feeling cold?'

I shake my head 'Claude...'

'Yes?'

'Back when I was-' I refrained from saying the word 'normal'  'You know, not a demon, was I different? Did I look different?'

'What do you mean?'

'I'm saying, right now I can kind of make out how I am but I don't remember how I was before. I want to know if I've changed, appearance wise and everything else.'  Claude stood there for a split second thinking about what he was going to respond with. He looked out at the invisible horizon again and lifted his hand to the back of his neck. I noticed hints of warm red on his face.

'You haven't changed at all.' He replied 'You're still the same old Raven.'

A smile starts to form on my face, subtle at first until it develops into a full sized grin. 'And you're still the same old idiot.'

(A/N So close to the summer holidaysss!!! It's so sad that I still have to do work during this time, and I mean lots and lots of education. But I'll try and wedge in some time where I can update chapters more frequently over the summer. Who knows how productive I'll be... Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a great summer break! Stay safe!! )
