Chapter 10
I've decided to get up out of bed early today because I wanted to make Claude breakfast. I mean, he always makes mine for me so I thought he deserved it.
I change into a new top, one that's a plain navy blue, with some comfy jeans and try and find my way downstairs.
Let's see, so the guys from last night said the kitchen was opossite the dining hall which is...
I look around, the house is so big that I can't even find the kitchen. I'm surprised it doesn't come with a map, too.
It takes me at least 10 minutes until I finally find the kitchen only to see Dante and Virgil each holding a plate of food which I'm guessing is our breakfast.
'Good morning Miss Simmons. We have prepared for you your morning food,' Virgil greets with a smile.
'Um,' I start to say but hesitate because I'm still nervous around them 'I was actually gonna make breakfast but...'
'No need,' Virgil tells me 'We're here to serve you so that you won't have to do anything. Sit back, enjoy your infinite existence and let us do all the work.'
'I just want to make breakfast for my boyfriend!' I cry out loud, then cover my mouth because I didn't mean to shout. 'Sorry...' I murmur to the both of them.
'So you wish to prepare the breakfast yourself, ma'am?' Dante confirms and I nod. He takes the plate Virgil was holding and along with his, he dumps all the food in the bin.
'No, Dante, I worked hard on those eggs!!' Virgil cries in agony and I giggle. I didn't expect Dante to just throw away what they had spent all morning cooking. 'My poor eggs...' Virgil still moaned.
'Okay,' I said, cracking my knuckles to make that click sound.
I go over to the fridge and check what's inside. Besides all the stuff already in there, I couldn't find what I was looking for.
So I check in the cupboard for anything that I think'll make a good breakfast for Claude and luckily faind a packet of pancake mix.
'I don't know,' I say aloud to myself 'The food Claude usually makes is like hand made. Ready made pancake mix...?'
I spend five minutes deciding whether I should make pancakes or not and end up making a decision that I should. I turn on the stove, and pour the mix into the frying pan.
After I cook about 6 (3 for each of us), I place the 3 on two separate plates.
'Is there any syrup?' I ask Virgil who immediately retrieves a bottle of golden syrup for pancakes. 'Thanks.' I say to him, squeezing the perfect amount of syrup on each plate.
I check the huge, round clock on the wall of the kitchen for the time and wonder why Claude hasn't woken up yet.
With the two plates of pancakes in my hands, I walk out of the kitchen and try and find our room upstairs. On the way, I get lost. Why do all the corridors have to look so goddamn similar?!
I use all my effort to find myself on the right track when suddenly I bump into someone. I quickly regain my balance and hope that the food hadn't fallen out of the plates.
'Claude!' I exclaim in excitement, about to hug him but then remember that my hands are already occupied so I don't.
'Hey,' he replies in a groggy tone, rubbing his head. He was in a plain white t shirt and boxers; I try not to look distracted.
'Why are you up so late?' I ask him but then remember why I was looking for him in the first place 'Oh, wait! I made breakfast for you!!'
'Thanks,' he manages a tired half smile and adds 'I'm not hungry...'
'Oh,' I look down, feeling kind of stupid 'Okay then.' I turn around and take the plates away, trying to look like I wasn't hurt inside, even if foir some reason it hurt a lot.
I find my way downstairs and then head to the kitchen, sighing as I placed the two plates on the table.
'I bet he would have eaten my eggs instead...' I heard Virgil mutter bitterly and then heard Dante hitting him 'Ow! I didn't mean it!'
I wander around the manor, finding a tall door at the end of a hallway on the third floor; Yes, I had just discovered that this manor had three floors. The door lead to a huge room with bookshelves spiralling everywhere as tall as the room was. It must have been a library.
I stepped in the room, absorbing every inch of it with my eyes. The library was like a maze and as I explored deeper into it, I discovered that at the center of the library was a medium sized desk, with a comfy looking sofa and reading lamp next to it.
'This place has still not ceased to amaze me,' I thought to myself as I sat myself at the corner of the sofa.
There was a book left on the arm rest and before wondering who put it there, I picked it up and started to read it. The beginning page had already dragged me. In fact, I was so deep into this book that I hadn't even noticed that someone had sart themselves next to me on the sofa.
'Your mad at me, aren't you?' Claude said.
'Who said I was mad?' I replied, hiding my face behind the book.
'I'm sorry,' he placed his hands on my lap, trying to look at me even with the book held to my face.
'How did you find me?' I snapped instead of a 'I forgive you'
'I could smell your pain and sorrow and need of my comforting so I followed it,' he said and I raised my eyebrow at him, not believing a word 'Fine,' he sighed 'Octavius told me where he was.'
I still carried on reading the book.
'Will you just please talk to me?' He begged but I didn't respond. I know what I was doing was really immature.
He snatched the book out of my hands.
'Hey!!' I complained, annoyed by his actions.
The next thing I know is that he's pulled me in for a slow and deep kiss, the ones that make me light headed.
I sigh as he carefully pulled his lips away, feeling disappointed that it had to end so soon.
'Is this blackmail?' I ask his cunning ass, back to my annoyed state.
'In ways...' He smirked 'So do you forgive me?'
I gently shake my head. 'No,' I tell him.
'Why? I'm sorry I didn't eat the pancakes! I just didn't feel hu-' he freezes midway before he sneezes, making me jump. It's those really high pitch sneezes.
'One, Bless you and two, aww your sneezes are so adorable!!' I squeal.
He breaths out and slowly places his head on my lap.
'What's wrong?' I ask him, placing my hand on his cheek before gasping and moving it away 'Your face is burning hot!' And then suddenly I realize 'Claude, you have a fever!!'
He moans, cuddling even more onto my lap.
I place the back of my hand on his forehead 'Seriously, Claude. You have a huge fever!'
'No shit Sherlock...' He mumbles, closing his eyes.
'You need to get to bed!' I command him, carefully getting up and trying to hoist him up with me.
'Its fine, its fine...' He moans, getting up himself 'I can walk...' He walks unsteadily, nearly falling over a couple of times. He puts an arm around my shoulder and leans his weight on me.
I guided him around the labyrinth like library until we finally reached the end and searched for the bedroom.
Claude let go of me, having enough strength to enter our room but stumbling over as he walked to the bed. 'My head hurts so much,' he maons, lying down on the bed.
I sit beside him, leaning down and kissing his forehead 'Don't worry, I'll take care of you,'
'Now I'm worrying...' Claude jokes.
'Shut up!' I laugh.
