Trigger Warning: Mention Of Murder, General Anxiety, Upsetting Thoughts(?), Panic
Let me know if I missed any please
He looked up at the building with apprehension. 'What if they catch me? What if they realize what I am? Weren't my kind supposed to be killed once born? What would the other students think if they learned?' He chewed on his bottom lip and shuffled into the school while clutching his bag close to his body. The area that he entered was a large hall with three giant chandlers hanging from the ceiling in a line and there were multiple ledges at different heights with various people on them, a majority of them with some kind of wings. He took a deep breath but shaky and shuffled towards a person who he saw stood in the middle of the room with a clipboard. He shuffled closer and waved slightly to get their attention causing them to smile kindly at him.
"Hello, I am Aiden and I am non-binary. Are you a first year?" Their voice was gentle and warm. He nodded and held a hand up in the shape of a C. Aiden blinked before putting their clipboard under an arm and started signing while speaking. "Are you deaf or mute, C?" C paused and blinked for a moment then moved his hand to cover his mouth. Aiden smiled and nodded before looking at the clipboard and flipped a few pages up before turning it towards C. "Would you please show me which is you?" They asked. He nodded and scanned down the page before stopping at one and hovered his finger over the name. "Cade Frost?" They asked then flipped a few more papers and blinked at the paper in confusion. "Uhh... Cade, I am not quite sure where you're supposed to be at so just stick with me for the moment till one of the teachers show up so I can ask. Normally you first years are grouped up by what you are then are evaluated to see what smaller groups your classed in but your paper just says classified...."
Cade nodded and shuffled around so he was slightly behind Aiden and just clutched his bag closer before tugging his beanie further down his head and made sure his hood was also still on. Cade quietly observed the room with a tense posture and slouched even more. The floor was polished marble with a dark grey carpet over it while the walls were stone. The ledges were made of dark wood which made them contrast greatly against the light grey stone walls. There was a set of stairs down both hallways that branched from the sides of the hall and a fairly large courtyard was behind them, but Cade had no idea how to get into the courtyard. Cade tensed up every time someone walked up to Aiden to figure out where to go. He soon learned that people with wings, air elementals, and a few nature elementals were the people up on the ledges. Over in a dark corner were a few ice elementals along with a couple demons and shifters. A majority of the demons and fire elementals were in the sun that was shining through the window that separated the hall from the courtyard.
He shuffled his feet nervously and looked at the different groups while also glancing over the wandering people. 'Where will I fit in? Will I just be an outcast? Doubt I will even fit in with the outcasts... I'll probably be all alone.. That'll be fine, I'm used to it anyways.' Cade couldn't help his thought process and he shuffled a little closer to Aiden but made sure to not make contact with them. Aiden looked down at Cade and frowned in confusion before looking back at the clipboard and flipped through other students papers and was surprised to find that Cade wasn't the only one, but Cade had the most information that was marked as classified. Aiden looked over the papers and tried to find anything that could help them with figuring out why they were classified them realized one thing. All of the people who had classified information had at least what they were classified. Aiden blinked and greeted another first year as they approached and watched them walk away before looking back at Cade, 'What are you...'
It was several hours later, the hall empty besides the two and Cade had zoned out an hour ago, now just staring dully at the floor. His pale skin causing his dark brown eyes to stick out a lot, but his brown eyes seemed so empty. Aiden was busy flipping through the papers on their clipboard trying to see if there were anymore people who they were still waiting on to arrive and when they looked up they scanned the room and perked up when they saw one of the teachers just entering. "Ms. Lahr! Could you help me for a moment?!" They called over causing the teachers head to snap to face Aiden with a scowl which changed to neutral once she saw who it was and made her way over, Cade still just staring at the floor, not paying attention to his surroundings. Ms. Lahr stopped two feet from Aiden and raised an eyebrow as she kept her wrists crossed behind her back. "Yes, Aiden? You required my assistance?" Her voice was as smooth as honey but as cold as ice.
Aiden nodded and flipped to Cade's paper and showed Ms. Lahr. "Cade's information is classified and he doesn't know what to do either.." They murmured and watched the teachers expression as she looked over the paper. Ms. Lahr looked at Cade and just stared at him as he continued to stare blankly at the floor with glazed eyes before she looked back at Aiden. "I will take him with me and figure out what to do about him." Ms. Lahr stepped up to Cade and placed a hand on Cade's shoulder. Cade's eyes widened and flashed solid black before he was fifteen feet from where he was previously and now in a crouched position with his slightly pointed teeth bared towards the two. "Cade?!" Aiden asked and stared at the boy who had seemed harmless mere seconds ago, the boy who has been standing timidly next to him for hours was gone now replaced with someone who looked feral.
Cade trembled in his crouched position and looked between the two others in the hall, his eyes flickering between dark brown, dark green, and solid black as his knees shook, threatening to buckle below him. His eyes were wide with fear and flicked between the two, his breathing was quicker, and his heart was thundering against his ribs. Ms. Lahr watched Cade carefully then looked to Aiden. "Go, I can handle this.." Aiden hesitated and looked between Cade and Ms. Lahr before slowly backing up then rushing down a hall with Cade still trying to keep both in sight. Ms. Lahr turned her attention solely to Cade and crouched down slightly before taking a step towards him causing him to hiss fearfully at her and his teeth got sharper. Ms. Lahr hesitated and she looked around before focusing on Cade again.
"Cade, I need you to calm down." She said sternly causing him to flinch back and hiss louder, but this time the hiss sounded different, almost like it wasn't from the same person. The hiss was deeper and filled with malice. Ms. Lahr stood up and put her hands in her pockets, a sign of surrender from an elemental. Cade blinked and tilted his head and took a few steps towards Ms. Lahr before stopping again and looking at Ms. Lahr's eyes with distrust, all she did was close her eyes. Cade blinked and made a noise from shock and slowly moved closer, stopping every time she shifted in her spot till he was right next to her and began to circle her while still in a crouched position.
"Cade? Are you calm?" Her voice was still as smooth as honey but instead of it being cold it was cautious causing Cade to tilt his head in confusion and whined as he sat in front of her. Ms. Lahr slowly opened her eyes and looked at Cade before slowly lowering to her knees and slowly moved to hold her arms out as if asking for a hug. Cade sobbed and flung himself against her and tightly as his body trembled. Ms. Lahr cooed quietly as she carefully rubbed his back. Cade's emotions were out of control. "It's okay.. Everything is fine, it's only us here, there's nothing to be afraid of..." She murmured and held Cade close as she tried to think of what could have happened to the poor child that would cause such a reaction.
But, the two in the middle of the hall were oblivious to the eyes that watched from above...

Hope you liked the first chapter, I won't be setting a schedule for the story but I will at least try to get a chapter up every two weeks.
