Tomorrow is the day. . .

Nana stood tall in front of her students -females- looking at the throngs. Today will be her last day here and she wants to make most if it by talking about the topic every female will want to hear. They ask her to talk about Menstruation a long time ago but she said she wants to tackle more about it before transporting it to them. She is going to resign today and none of the students were happy about it, both male and female and even some of the teachers she doesn't talk to. She is kind of happy that she'll be missed but also sad. She loves them each in her own kind of way but half her deen is also calling out to her.

Her soon to be in-laws house which by the way is where she's going to live, is not close to her house nor the Islamic school so now she'll have to resign, she doesn't even know what to do. She has no other choice! She has accepted the marriage proposal two days after the day she prayed Istikharah and her answer was very clear. That night, she had a dream about him and another night then she find herself searching for him on social medias but didn't find him -or maybe because she doesn't know his last name and is afraid to ask her mother. Her mother was ecstatic and they set the date a month later.

"They're ready and we are more than ready, why wait?" Her mother had said when she told her about what happened when they set the date with some of the family members she doesn't know.

"But-" she was about to argue when her mother cut her off for the nth time that week, her mother can be very bossy when she wants to.

"There is this hadith I saw in your book once. Prophet (peace be on him) said, 'Three things should not be delayed; Salat when it's time comes, Burial when the funeral has arrived, and the marriage of a single a woman when a man of equal status has proposed.' You can't back out girl," her mother beamed before kissing her cheek and flaring away.

She's got her!

"We're ready, Mu'allimah (female teacher in Arabic)!" One of the students shouted from the back of the class. She smiled though her niqab before she starts to stroll around the class, roll by roll. The class has five rolls, each seat has space for two people and the class is very big making the students many also.

"Assalamu Alaikum!" She greeted, going back to the front of the class with her book in between her fingers. They all answer her taslim.

"As you all know, today, we're going to talk about menstruation. Feel free to ask me whatever question is it after I am done, don't be shy! We're all girls here." She chuckled when some of the girls squirmed. "I'll answer some of the questions that were asked earlier by your mates." She bow her head to her book to read the question aloud and repeat it twice before going to the next.

"What are allowed and what are not allowed for a woman to read on days when she is menstruating or having postnatal bleeding? More precisely, what are prohibited and permitted during these days?" She read the first question, making sure they're writing it before skipping to the answers.

"The following are the things that are prohibited for a woman on the days when she is menstruating or having postnatal bleeding: She cannot perform namaz (salat, ritual prayer). It is declared in a hadith-i sharif 'A menstruating woman cannot perform namaz' (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud).

"She cannot fast (narrated by our mother Hadrat Aisha) that fasts are not observed during menstruation and must be made up later while namazes that are not performed during menstruation are forgiven (Bukhari).

"She cannot read the Qur'an while touching it. It is declared in a hadith, 'A woman and a person who is junub (ritually impure person because of sexual intercourse or a semen discharge) cannot read the Qur'an Al-Karim.' (Tirmidhi).

"She cannot touch the Mushaf (the copy of Qur'an). It is declared in the Qur'an Al-Karim, 'No one can touch it except the purified ones' (Al-Waqi'ah 79). Some scholars say it is permissible.

"She cannot enter a mosque. A hadith says, 'it is not halal (lawful) for a junub person and a menstruating woman to enter a mosque' (Ibn Maja). But some of our scholars said it is permissible if she stays away from the people praying.

"She cannot perform tawaf (circumambulating the Ka'abah which is one of the ritual of pilgrimage). 'She is forbidden from sexual intercourse.' 'It is haram (prohibited) to have anal intercourse with one's wife both during and after menstruation. Oral sex is not permissible both during and after menstruation, either.'

"A woman must let her husband know when her menstruation begins and when it ends. It is a grave sin not to say it when her husband asks. It is stated in a hadith, 'A woman who conceals the beginning and the termination of her menstruation from her husband is accursed.'

"If she does not have a husband or a mahram (unmarriageable) relative with her sets off a long distance is over, travel to a distance of more than 104km from the place she is staying, only then she will be considered a traveler." She grin at her students, they have their head deep into their books.

"Should we continue?" She asked, wanting to add more but still want to hear from them.

"Yes, please." They replied. She smiled before continuing.

"Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to fast in Ramadhan? The answer is No. Is it permissible to delay menstruation by taking pills in order not to miss fast days? It is permissible! If a woman makes intention in the evening to fast the following day and if her menstruation begins the following day, will she fast on that day? The fast is broken when the menstruation begins, so she can eat and drink. However, she must not eat in the presence of fasting people." She kept on talking on and on about menstruation till the class ended.

Between her lecture, the female population augmented and they all sat in a juxtaposition because of the little space. Seeing so many people, she thank the God above for the object sheathing her face from them -some of the teachers and even female students from the other classes joined them.

After her class ended, Nana left the school with a heavy heart. She was walking in the curb thinking about her marriage and the person who seem to never leave her mind -Zayn. They didn't say a single word to each other after that day in her house. She made sure they didn't communicate till after their marriage, or something might go wrong. He agreed to her decision after a little reluctance but agreed nevertheless. He respects her decision and could wait for just a month. She won't ever trust herself with him beside her, he's everything a girl will ever dream of and they're both humans with weaknesses. He told her that she has an arcane aura, she shrugged.

"Hey you, sister mine." She heard someone call from behind her, a car coming to a halt right next to her by her right.

"Brother mine." She screeched when her mind processed the words and the car that he picked from their house.

"The one and only. Now get in the car, Khumais couldn't wait to see you." He grinned at her beaming face, watching her round the car and get into the passenger side.

"Bundle of happiness! I missed you so so much," she showered his face with kisses and he giggled, kissing everywhere his lips could reach and they giggled together.

Fahad watch from the drivers seat with a small smile. They make the perfect pair whenever they're together. It's like they don't want to leave each other's embrace whenever they get their limbs get attached.

"Where is my queen?" She asked after they finished their kisses, as if she just remembered about her.

"She's at home. We can't miss your wedding tomorrow, now, can we?" He raised a brow.

"Not when I'm the one getting married." She laughed and he joined, they always laugh at something insensible and humourless, that's their bond.

They arrive home in less than five minutes and hop out of the car. They walk straight to the packed house with many relatives that Nana don't know about. They were so many of them from both paternal and maternal and it surprised her so much. At first it scared her but then she got comfortable with them and find out that they're all cool. And not to talk about the skin care session that her mother convinced her to, even calling Sakinah -her sister in-law- to talk to her. Her mother always gets what she wants from the time their relationship took a good turn.

There is also a girl called Rukayyah who said she's known her since birth and they were friends. Her mother immediately cut her off and said that they were best friends when they were younger but got separated when they leave Abuja state to Niger. She likes the girl though, she got comfortable with her which she didn't with the rest but manage to talk a little with them, still getting to be comfortable around them. There are four of them around her age; Rukayyah, Taima, Zahira and Batul.

"That Rukayyah, I know her with you. She's not bad, give her a chance." Fahad whispered to his sister when she finished telling him the story about her. They were already at the front door so they had to keep their voices low.

"I know, I'm giving her a chance. She's clamorous and bubbly, what I am not." She shrugged. Fahad gave her a look like he is seeing a dragon spitting fire instead of her face so she asked, "what?" Giving him her famous incredulous look.

"Your not clamorous, you're very tumultuous." He quickly ran away from her knowing fully well that she's not going to follow him, they're many people in the house to her to do that and she's holding Khumais in her arms. She fumed, picturing his euthanasia.

She walk to her room with a dormant Khumais in her arms, ducking away from the noisy places so as to not wake Khumais up. After gently tucking him in, she change from her clothing before lying down next to Khumais, bringing him close to her.

Tomorrow is a big and stressing day!
