Nana and her mother went to her mother's homeland for the first time. It was also the first time she knew about them having a family in the village of Zaria. They went to Kwarbai to greet her mother's parents siblings since her parents are dead and it has been long since she last visited. She heard them mocking her that because she became rich, she stopped coming to visit them so she asked Nana to get dressed that they're going to Zaria and will be back the same day so Nana got dressed in simple ankara flay gown.

Now that they're standing by the door to the house, Nana wished she was anywhere but there. She could already feel chills running down her spine because she's having a bad feeling about the whole ordeal. Just looking at the door makes her want to run back to the confines of her room and lock herself up. Something bad is going to happen and she can't stop it no matter what.

They got down and went straight into the house which has only a dark grey door. They salamed and walked into the long hallway before they finally reach the side where the people in the house live. People welcomed them like they didn't gossip about her mother because they want her to give them something when she's going back. People! Nana shook her head and continue to trail behind her mother like a lost puppy. The older women were eying her up and down after she greeted each one of them.

They were all gisting around the later that day when on older woman chirped; "You have this young lady in your house and she's still not married? What are you doing with her at home?" She threw at her mother.

Her mother squirmed on the mat, not knowing how to reply to such question with a hint of mockery. The other women started talking also, criticizing them for what isn't their fault. If they find a suitable spouse for her, they will most definitely get her married but this people are not getting it.

"She can get married to Isuhu, he's looking for a second wife." The first woman who asked the mockery question suggested, eying both mother and daughter.

"You're right, Hajiya." Another woman chirped, grinning like she's won a lottery.

Both mother and daughter's heart stopped beating for a second before carrying on and beating in the fastest way possible. Why the hell are they talking about second wife?! She's just here to visit and they want her to marry someone already. That's the problem with some village people and why in heaven is the man looking for another wife and why are they even supporting him? She's very new here and they didn't even ask if she has any suitor whatsoever.

"We'll talk to her father about it." Her mother forced a smile. She's not close to her daughter but also don't like the idea of her living with these people, they roll bad vibe.

"Alhaji Talib will hundred percent agree to this arrangement, I know him." The first woman insisted, still eying Nana.

"Okay. I'll see about it." Her mother mumbled, immediately standing up from the mattress and adjusting her veil, Nana followed suit.

"You're going already?" Another woman among them asked, eying her bag and veil.

"Yes. We need to leave now if we don't want to drive home at night which is very bad." She slipped her shoes and ask one of them to call the men in the house to take the thing she brought for them.

Among those men, they mentioned Isuhu and also told him about him marrying the girl. Nana could see how he was creepily looking at her as they walk to the car. The way he's looking at her makes all the hairs in her body to stand in attention, it sends cold unpleasant chill down her spine. They're expecting her to marry this man who doesn't even respect himself talk less of respecting her. No wonder he'll need a second wife, the first one can't take his shit anymore.

Later that day, Nana was called to the dining table where her parents are eating their dinner and was asked to join which was the very first time and she's surprised yet happy. After they finished having their dinner and Aunty Zu parked everything they used, her father cleared his throat to get his daughter's attention back to him. Nana immediately look up at him, waiting for him to say what he's been wanting to say that makes him invite her to the dining table.

"Nana, you'll be getting married in two months time Insha'Allah. You can go, may Allah bless you." He finished, shooing her out of the room.

She stood up obediently, not looking at any of them in the eye and went straight to her room, she is going to marry that creepy man. Maybe those vile women called him and convince him to let her marry him, she knew he's the one without doubt. What can she do? She'll have to go with it since she's never argued with them in her life and she won't start that for even if they'll give her the chance to bring out a suitor, she cannot.

Two months later, Nana is married to Isuhu and she's now in his house, his room waiting for him. Everything happened so fast with all the arrangement and small walimah that took place. Now she's married to Mr creepy and there is no turning back for her ever. She silently sit on the bed, crying silently as she has no friends to come and stay with her. Her family members were there when she got married but none of them were allowed to convey her except the ones that live here in Zaria. She found out that his real name is Yusuf.

She sobbed, waiting for her creepy husband to come in. He has been disturbing her with phone calls ever since the wedding was fixed. She'll pick the call and keep quiet then he'll start talking about naughty things which she hated. And she found out that he wanted to marry her because his first wife couldn't conceive.

"Assalamu Alaikum." She heard his awful voice saying before seeing his slightly muddy shoe and the dirt on the end of trousers. He's a dirty man and he's matching the edge of his trouser which is haram.

"Wa'alaikum Assalam." She replied with her tiny voice. He walked further in, shuffling with the black and yellow leather he came in with.

"Amarya, how are you?" She sat down on the edge of the bed, taking her hands in his which left her disgusted.

"I'm fine." She curtly replied, faking a yawn so as to not let him consummate their marriage today. She knew it'll happen sooner or later but she prefer later, she feels disgusted by the mere sight of him.

"Let's get this over with." She heard him mumble to himself before removing the veil covering her face and then started removing his old looking babban riga, she knew where this was going.

He took her brutally that night.

The next few days continue like a routine to her. She'll wake up in the morning and make him breakfast which is tea and he'll buy bread for them -he'll eat most of it and keep small for her saying that since she's from the city, she doesn't eat much which annoys her. He doesn't come back till after ishā prayer and by then, she's done with his dinner and it is always tuwo miyan kuka. In the day, she'll have to eat the same tuwo the people in the house eat because he asked her not to touch his food items if she's not going to cook for him.

Now a month and the half, she's getting darker and skinner. She's lost a lot of weight in the past one and a half month because of the little to nothing food they're giving her. Their excuse is 'you're from the city and city people don't eat much. If it's too much for you, bring the rest back' it annoys her to the core but can't help it. If she doesn't eat that food, she'll die and they won't care.

Currently, she's sitting on there bed which has took away the whole room because of it's size and the wardrobe squeezed itself making the room more tiny and there is no more space for anything except another small drawer that has her kitchen stuff; plates, cutleries, cups, pots and so on. There is also a little space where they can pray and that's it.

After saying her zuhr prayer, she stood up and went out of the room to collect her food in the kitchen. Yes, they're using one kitchen in the whole house and she's get to meet her cowife who was also against the wedding and she hated Nana with every fibre of her being, if only she knows. Nana salamed and collect her food, immediately leaving the fighting children as they ask for more food and the elders yell at them that there is no more.

She is sitting down on the floor where they use to pray, eating tuwon masara miyan kuka. She has to push everything for it to squeeze inside for she hate it with passion, it's very hard and the soup is like water. She manage to push everything inside only to go outside and vomit for a reason she doesn't know. She had never vomited the food no matter how much she wasn't liking it. Everyone came and stand in front of her, children teenagers and adults. Some adults smile creepily before helping her to her feet and into her room.
