~• Prologue •~

I have to run.

I need to run.

Escape!

Why?

I don't know.

Something's going to happen.

There's a ringing in my ears.

People are screaming, falling everywhere.

Run.

RUN!!!

They yell, but I can't move.

Run away! Far away!

Escape, escape!

They tell me to run because they couldn't.

My feet are hot glued to the cement underneath me.

Ocean.

Water.

Waves crashing everywhere.

Except here.

Not here.

I am high above.

Feeble strings holding onto life.

If I move I die.

Everyone is screaming for me to run.

Run.

RUN!

I stay.

Balance.

Everything has shifted.

Nothing is the same.

Good or Bad?

Good or Bad?!

Stay or leave?!?!

STAY OR LEAVE?!?!?!

LEAVE, LEAVE!!!

LEAVE!!!

RUN!!!

ESCAPE!!!

I stay.

I wake up in a cold sweat. I've had the same dream for months, but it never makes sense. Run, stay, what does that even mean? I take a deep breath and grab my phone. It's 2:00 AM. Of course.

I lay on my back and look around my room. The ceiling fan spins quietly, as if it was trying not to disturb anyone in the house. I count the posters on my wall from concerts and get a total of 16. The closet light is on, but I can see it's struggling, since every 10 seconds it flickers. There's a sign that says my name in rainbow letters above curtains. "P H O E B E" it spells. I stare at my popcorn ceiling, thinking about everything that's gone wrong, or is wrong, or what will go wrong.

I'm asleep in no time.

Sure... in no time.
