I startled when my father called us down. I took Olivia's hand and she gave me a squeeze. Her sparkly nails glittered in the dark and I saw Jess glance at me, her beautiful dark hair cascading down her back. Make it count. 

I slid a finger down the banister and took a deep breath before seeing Jesse. His beautiful green eyes. I stood before him without a word. He slid a corsage onto my wrist and I laughed. "This isn't prom." I told him. I pushed a box into his chest. "For me?" he asked and I rolled my eyes. 

"Duh. Happy birthday." he smiled and opened the box. I heard Jess and Lukas murmuring in the background and Axel and Olivia were joking around. I wanted this moment to last. 

"Thank you." he said and smiled, his eyes crinkling. Something in his eyes made me lose myself in there. His beautiful green eyes. 

"Come on." I said and kissed him. Jess and Lukas smiled at that and together, all of us walked out and Diesel waved goodbye to us. 

For a moment, I thought I heard a bark. Like Reuben. I swallowed and smiled up at Jesse. I knew, somewhere out there, we were meant to be together.
