Light

When my eyes open, I'm met with unfamiliar surroundings. It takes me a while, but I work out that I'm in haymitch's house. I'm in a guest room, lying on the bed. I sit up, and look around. My whole body aches. It feels as if I'm being continuously beaten with a thousand, tiny ropes. I force myself to climb out of bed, despite my body's protests. I manage to find the stairs, and slowly creep down them. I hear Haymitch's voice. He's on the phone. I peak my head around the door to hear what's being said.
"... It's not safe. You have to take him. He almost killed her this time."
It only took those few sentences to work out who he's talking about. Me and Peeta. I listen on until the end to find out who he's talking to. Along the way, he says stuff like:
"I'll have to tell her. It'll probably end up with her attacking me again, but it doesn't matter. I really do care about the girl. I want her to be safe. Happy, even. If you can make that happen by fixing him. That's all I ask."
He goes silent while he listens for the answer.
"Oh, thank you Dr Aurelius. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye."
Dr Aurelius? Peeta's doctor? Why is Dr Aurelius coming here?
"Katniss. I didn't see you there." Haymitch's says, snapping me from my daze.
"What have you done? Where are you sending Peeta?" I demand.
"Ok, now, promise you won't attack me before I'm finished?"
I nod my head weakly, starring only at the floor. I can't bear to look at him yet.
"Dr Aurelius is in district nine, so it won't take long for him to get here. He's going to take Peeta to district four, and your mother is going to help with his recovery."
I snap my head up at the mention of my mother. I feel my stomach tighten, as if someone's tied a noose around it.
"They're gonna help him get better, then send him back."
"What if they don't send him back?"
I ask, being my usual pessimistic self. "What if they think he's too dangerous to be around me, and ship him off somewhere? What if I never get him back?"
I feel myself begin to worry. I'd be lost without him. This fact proved itself when I started to lose my marbles in district 13. I spent quite a lot of my time talking to myself, sitting in a corner. Peeta pulled me out of the ever winding staircase that is madness. Such a dark, lonely place. Peeta extended the hand that made me see the light.
