Chapter 32: rehearsal
-Thursday at lunch-
"Didn't you just get shot a couple of days ago?" Ned, not subtly at all, asked me.
"Ned!" Peter exclaimed. "You can't just shout that out! What if someone hears, like Michelle?"
He whispered the last part, so she wouldn't hear, considering that she was right next to us, one table away.
"No, it's ok, yes I did, Ned. I have super healing, so I actually healed yesterday, and Michelle knows."
"What do you mean, she knows?" Peter's voice cracked.
"I mean, she knows. I told her."
"Yup. I know everything," She chimed in. "And about you being Spiderman, Peter. I've known that for a long time."
"What the hell?" Ned questioned.
Michelle and I laughed, loudly.
I made eye contact, with Peter.
His elbow was rested on the table, and his chin was propped up on his hand. He looked, at me, grinning to himself.
I blushed, and looked away. He has no idea what kind of effect he has on me.
"You ok?" Ned asked me.
"Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine," I cleared my throat. "I'm going to class now, see you."
-Peter's POV-
"Oh my fucking god, you're so oblivious," Michelle laughed, as I watched Y/N walk away.
"Huh?" I asked, not moving my eyes.
Damn, she really has that mesh-flannel aesthetic down. And she looks so good in a leather jacket.
(A/N): How I pictured the wardrobe, ignore it if you don't like it.
"You have no idea, do you?" Ned started giggling.
"What?"
"Jesus, I knew guys were dumb, but Peter, you're on another level."
"What are you talking about?"
"Y/N has a crush on youuuuuu," Ned sang.
"No way, that's insane," I mumbled. Yeah right. Me?
"Yes way, and no it's not. You should ask her to homecoming. I'll ask her if she likes you next block, you'll see," Michelle smirked.
"No, no no, Michelle, don't please!"
She was already gone to class by the time I finished my sentence.
-Your POV-
"Y/N? You there?" Michelle asked, waving her hand in front of my face.
"Yeah, yeah sorry," I snapped back to reality. "I-I was just t-thinking."
I was. About Peter. Again.
I felt myself smile, as he walked through the door, with a stupid grin on his face, as Ned told a joke.
"You like, him, don't you?"
"What? No, I don't," I blushed, a lot.
I looked over to where Peter and Ned were sitting, and saw Peter hushing Ned, looking at me out of the corner of me eye.
"Yes, you do."
"Ok, yes I do. A lot, actually," I smiled.
"Knew it."
"Shut the hell up."
~~~
"Y/N/N! Wait up!"
Peter ran towards me, and bumped into me, knocking my books to the ground.
"S-sorry," he mumbled.
"It's ok," I chuckled. Damn, this boy.
"Are you busy after school?" he asked.
"Um, yeah, I uh, I have rehearsals, why?" I opened my locker, as he opened his.
"Oh, I just want to talk to you about something. I'll meet you after?"
"Sure. 4:00pm?"
"Sounds good. Bye."
"Yup."
We both walked our separate ways, to our next classes. I wonder what he's gonna say.
-After school-
-Peter's POV-
I walked into the theatre, shaking.
I decided that I was going to ask Y/N to Homecoming, after her rehearsal.
I sat down at the back, tapping my foot on the ground.
There was a set that looked like a bedroom, and Y/N was singing a part of the song.
"Everyday, I just pray. Every move I make is right. Where I go, who I know."
I couldn't help but smile, she looked amazing in her costume, though it wasn't really her style. She was wearing blue bell-bottom jeans, and a navy blue crop top. Her hair was curled, and falling over her back.
(A/N): You on the left, Gwen on the right. And Gwen is played by Britany Snow.
She saw, me, and her face lit up. He waved, and I waved back.
After Gwen, they sang a duet.
"And I worry, What if I stand out one bit. I worry, what can I possibly do? To fit in.."
~~~
"That was amazing!" I exclaimed, giving her a high fiver as she walked over to me.
"Thanks, Pete. The show got moved up to next Friday, so I've gotta work extra hard now. Anyways, what did you want to talk about?"
"Oh, y-y-yeah," I stuttered, looking down at my feet. "A-are you going to H-homecoming?"
She opened her mouth, closed it, and opened it again.
"I wasn't planning on it. Why?"
"Oh! Ok,"
"Peter, are you going to homecoming?" she asked softly, hope filled her voice.
"I wasn't planning on it. I-I-I mean, I was. With, uh, with you?" I mumbled.
"Pete, speak up," she laughed.
"Y/N, do you want to go to homecoming with me?"
"Yes."
She didn't even hesitate.
"Y-yes? Really?"
"Yeah. Really."
"Ok, I'm going to go now, bye," I felt myself grinning, as I walked away backwards.
"Watch out!" she yelled, just as I tripped over a cord.
"Shit, I'm good, I got it. Ok now, I'm leaving."
"Ok, bye. See you tonight? Your place right?"
"Yup, see you."
Now I just have to mentally prepare for her to meet May, and to do our homework without being too awkward.
