Epilogue

Melody looked through her outfits, unsure of what to wear. She knew that Stephanie was planning to wear a deep purple dress with matching gloves. Melody knew that it was a sign that Stephanie was still grieving her first love, but was slowly moving on.

Melody thought about Honey and how much she missed her. For sisters, they had looked quite different. Honey had curled light blonde hair and warm brown eyes. As a child, everyone had said that Honey had looked like a little angel.

Suddenly, Melody knew what she wanted to wear. Two hours later, she was dressed for her date.

Melody's red hair was in a braid and she wore a simple yellow dress and white shoes. She wore no makeup except for some blush and pink lip gloss.

Stephanie was waiting for her downstairs. She looked a little relieved. Her hair was in a bun and she wore blue jewellery which complemented her purple dress and black gloves and shoes.

"Hello Melody," said Stephanie. She looked super nervous. Melody was also really nervous. "Ready for our date?"

"Yeah," said Melody. Her dress was much lighter than Stephanie's. She hoped that her period wouldn't suddenly decide to come or she wouldn't sweat through it.

Stephanie brought Melody to a restaurant. People looked at them funnily, but neither of the girls noticed them.

"You know, I have been thinking," said Stephanie. "If you became a musician and I became a nurse or teacher or something, we won't see each other much. I'm planning on applying to college just in case, but... I'll miss you."

"I know. I will miss you too," said Melody. "I suppose I could go to college with you, but I don't want your Dad to spend more money on me."

"You know, Larry was going to be a vet. He always loved animals..." Stephanie suddenly groaned.

"What's wrong? Are you sick?" asked Melody.

"I'm such an idiot, talking about my late boyfriend on our first date!"

"Stephanie, just because you have someone else doesn't mean that you have to completely let go of your first love," said Melody.

"But... But... It just makes me feel so guilty about it," said Stephanie. "I feel like I'm betraying both you and Larry at the same time."

"You know, I have an idea," said Melody.

Later, the girls were in Stephanie's room and Melody brought out her guitar.

"What are you doing?" asked Stephanie.

"Honey used to play me this song. It was from our favourite childhood movie."

"Really? What song is it?" asked Stephanie.

Melody played the guitar and started singing.

Everybody is born to care
It's something we were meant to share
Not to keep to ourselves all alone
If we make room for someone new
Doesn't mean that there's less for you
Only means that our circle has grown

Love knows, love grows bigger than before
In your heart there's always more

It's magic the more you give it away
The more love comes back to you every day

You are my Stephanie and I am your Melody
Always forever wherever we go

Love knows, love grows bigger than before
In your heart there's always more
Always more

"Whoa," said Stephanie. "That... That was beautiful."

"Thanks," said Melody. "In the original song, the names were Tika and Ro but when Honey sang to me, it was Honey and Melody. No matter what happens in the future, you will always care about Larry. And Honey will always be with me, even if she's no longer here."

Stephanie nodded. "I understand now. You are so amazing. I don't know what I will do without you."

"We will always be together," said Melody. "No matter what happens."

"Can we..."

Stephanie didn't have to finish asking. Melody went close to her and the couple kissed. They knew that they would always have each other no matter what challenges came in the future.
