A failed attempt of confessing
(Y/n) was far from old and her aging process had been slowed down to the point where she wouldn't get old for a very long time after her exposure to quintessence, but she desperately wanted Thace to fall in love with her sooner instead of later. She'd been pining for him for years by that point and her heart yearned for him to reciprocate her feelings, the only problem was that she didn't want to frighten Thace away if she poured her heart out to him and he didn't view her as a romantic interest. However, as more time passed (Y/n) felt as though her heart was weighed down with sadness and if she didn't do anything about it she felt as though would die from sadness, so one day she decided to finally come clean about her feelings for her friend, regardless of what the outcome was. If her situation wasn't so desperate then the young woman would have waited until after Ilun and Vrek left, but what she needed to say couldn't wait any longer, all she had to do was wait for a private moment between her and Thace before she confessed her feelings for him. Of course, she had to wait for Thace to come back from work, then she waited until Vrek went to the monitor room and Ilun went to take a shower after dinner before she approached him.
Without her realizing it, Thace had deep feelings for her and he really wanted to have (Y/n) as his significant other, although he wasn't sure how to go about confessing his feelings to her. He shared his food with (Y/n), they were often together more than they were with anyone else, he always made a point to make her life more comfortable and they shared a habsuite, it was hard to believe that she didn't notice his advances towards her, or if she did then Thace worried that she was actively ignoring his attempts of showing his interest in her. Later that evening Thace had a video chat coming up with Ulaz, and he would ask his more romantically inclined friend for some love advice. Ilun was taking a shower while Vrek took monitor duty, leaving Thace and (Y/n) to do whatever they wanted for a while. When (Y/n) went to search for the man she had an undying crush on she found him on his way to the monitor room, most likely to check in with Vrek, but she needed to speak with him first.
“If you're not too busy, I really need to talk to you about something important. It can't wait.” (Y/n) said when she and Thace stopped in front of each other in the hallway, her tone coming out more depressed than she originally intended; she could feel her heart going crazy in her chest and she felt as though she might pass out from nervousness, but there was no backing out of it since she'd already spoken up.
“I'm never too busy for you as long as the base isn't under attack. We can talk in the kitchen.” Thace responded with a gentle smile, offering a quiet place where they wouldn't get disturbed; whatever (Y/n) needed to talk to him about, he knew it was very important.
(Y/n) nodded stiffly before she began heading towards the kitchen, reminding herself to breathe so she wouldn't pass out. Her legs felt wobbly as Thace walked next to her, yet she had to keep herself upright because she didn't want him to worry about her too much. Thace tried his best not to wrinkle his nose when he smelled how badly (Y/n) stunk of fear, nevertheless he did his best to keep a straight face; it was concerning that she was afraid of something and he wondered what could have frightened her, he knew that it couldn't have possibly been him, Ilun or Vrek, although until they reached their destination he had to keep guessing what had her so fearful. Thankfully the base wasn't very big and it didn't take them long to make it to the kitchen, but when they arrived and stood facing each other (Y/n) felt as her throat dried up; she suddenly didn't know what to say and it left her mind racing with how to confess her feelings to Thace, and everything she thought of sounded stupid in her mind. Thace became more worried than before while (Y/n) stood in front of him whilst staring down at her feet, as though she couldn't make up her mind on what to say, then she lifted her head and looked him in the eye, a determined expression etched on her face.
“Thace, do you know how we've known each other for a long time?” (Y/n) shyly inquired at first before she became more determined, reminding herself to have more courage so she could confess.
“Yes?” Thace responded with a question of his own, not sure of where she wanted to turn their conversation, although he held onto his last shred of hope that (Y/n) reciprocated his feelings.
“Well, every time I'm together we're feel weird- I mean different.” (Y/n) stammered as she attempted to tell Thace how she felt whenever they were together, unintentionally stumbling over her words.
Thace looked down at her with confusion, unsure of what (Y/n) was trying to tell him; on one hand it sounded like she was trying to confess her feelings for him, but at the same time it sounded as though she was attempting to tell him that she had a stomach ache. The look of determination was replaced by one of embarrassment when (Y/n) realized what she said and she felt stupid for messing up something she intended to be romantic, which made her wonder if she should just give up. While Thace and (Y/n) were alone in the kitchen Vrek had gotten hungry and thirsty, so he decided to get himself a snack; he thought the kitchen would be empty until he walked in and saw the two permanent residents of the base facing each other. (Y/n) looked embarrassed and stunk of fear while Thace looked confused, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on between them. (Y/n) and Thace looked at Vrek after they noticed him, both of them surprised by his presence.
“I'm sorry for asking you to come here with me, it was a huge mistake. I'm sorry.” (Y/n) hastily apologized to Thace before she quickly exited the kitchen, unable to face him; she was so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a deep hole somewhere far away and never come out, unfortunately she couldn't and she chose to sleep in one of the empty habsuites that night.
‘I only wanted something to eat and drink, I didn't mean to interrupt whatever the two of you were talking about.’ Vrek apologized, feeling bad about accidentally interrupting something potentially important.
“It's alright, you couldn't have known we were in here. Judging by how (Y/n) acted just now, I don't think any of us will see her until morning.” Thace answered, assuring him that he hadn't done anything wrong before he left the kitchen.
Vrek watched Thace leave the kitchen and wondered what he unintentionally interrupted; he shrugged it off and went to get what he needed, nonetheless he felt incredibly guilty for walking in on them. He had monitor duty until bedtime, then he could sleep with Ilun in their temporary habsuite. In the meantime, (Y/n) quickly took some of her things out of her and Thace's habsuite so she could sleep somewhere else that night, unable to be around him after she messed up her confession. After Thace returned to their habsuite he sat on the bed for a few moments, taking a little time to think about what happened in the kitchen. He grabbed his communicator and called Ulaz, then the holoscreen popped up when Ulaz answered his call; Ulaz could tell something happened when they greeted each other.
“Something happened.” Ulaz said pointedly, definitely knowing something happened between his childhood friend and the young human woman he'd become fond of.
“You could say that. Earlier (Y/n) asked me if we could speak privately and we went to the kitchen, then she began telling me how she felt weird while we were together, but I couldn't tell what she was getting at; either she has feelings for me or she has a stomach ache. I don't know what to do anymore. I love her very much, but I don't want to jump to conclusions.” Thace answered as he explained the basics about what happened between him and (Y/n) earlier, feeling more conflicted than ever.
“Humans aren't always the best at expressing how they feel, particularly when they have romantic tendencies towards someone. To me, it sounds like (Y/n) could have feelings for you; in fact, I'm sure of it, I've seen how she acts around you. You should leave something for her to discover and see if she accepts it.” Ulaz explained with a smile as he thought about what he knew about humans and their romantic relationships, then he went on to outright tell Thace that he knew (Y/n) most likely did have feelings for him, and that he should leave a courtship gift for her.
“You think so? I want to be with her so badly, but I don't want to confess and learn that she doesn't feel the same way.” Thace sighed wistfully, feeling the longing for (Y/n) in his heart.
Ulaz understood how Thace felt, but after he and Yemi became a couple the initial anxiousness of confessing one's feelings for the love of their life went away. However, he could only do so much to help Thace in his journey of love since it was ultimately up to Thace to make a move on (Y/n). Thace had a particular courtship gift in mind for (Y/n), all he had to do was buy it for her before he returned home from work one day. To get away from the topic of love, Ulaz told Thace about his most recent mission and how he'd almost directly crossed paths with a lone traveling cybertronian on an unpopulated planet. There was a lot Thace had to do and say in order to show (Y/n) that he loved her, although until then he enjoyed speaking with his childhood friend who knew how to take his mind off of his troubles.
