fourteen
They were going to be buried with one another. It had to be done; and nobody wanted it otherwise. People gathered around at the funeral, mourning both teenagers. Edward lied there in his side of the large casket. He was cleaned up and dressed formally. Felicity was torn on how lifeless her brother looked. Daniel had finally realized how cruel life truly is. Edward's skin did not return to his beautiful state, he was a blueish color, and his body looked skinner. Natalia was dressed beautiful, in a floral gown, red hair brushed and managed with. Edward and Natalia were on either side of the casket, and joined together by their cold hands, intertwined with one another. Jonathan held the flower in his hand and looked up at Evangeline with heavy, glossy eyes. Evangeline nodded at him and he smiled. He walked up to Natalia's side on the casket and grabbed the hand that wasn't laced with Edward's lifeless hand and placed the daisy in there. Felicity cried and this notion, and walked up behind Jonathan. She placed a comforting hand on his back and he turned to face her. She stared at him sadly and his lip quivered at just the sight of his unrequited love for Felicity Nunier. She hugged him tightly, and shoved her face in the crook of his neck. "I'm sorry, so sorry" She told him over and over. He shook his head at her and kissed her forehead.
Once they pulled away, they continued with the funeral with speeches and the burial. Every time the casket was lowered down deeper and deeper into the ground, Felicity could feel her heart dropping. Her brother was truly gone, she would no longer see him again. She glanced back at her parents, but they were too busy focusing on Edward being buried and Daniel, a bright kid suddenly became silent. He was never going to be the same again.
The funeral was over and Evangeline stood outside the funeral home and lit a cigarette. She didn't have her last piece of Vivian left. It truly hurt her, Natalia was truly like her mother.
Harvey tapped her shoulder and she turned to face Natalia's father. She had never seen the man before, but Natalia had taken everything from him, expect her eyes, she had her mother's green eyes. When she dyed her hair red, it almost seemed as if Evangeline was staring at the ghost of a past Vivian. But Natalia's silvery blonde blocks were all Harvey's Russian features.
"I'm sorry for your loss Lady Evangeline" Harvey told her. "My loss? Harvey she was your daughter" Evangeline said. "That didn't know her well, the fact that she was on the way to see me before all of it happened frightens me, she was going to see me Evans" Harvey breathed out harshly. "I know Harvey, she would have adored you" Evangeline reassured him. "Dennis didn't come, I sent him in invite and he wrote back I'm glad she is dead, for proof of my wife's infidelity means nothing to me" Evangeline told Harvey, with a straight face.
Harvey rolled his eyes at the comment and shook his head. "Both my children are gone" Harvey simply said. "Lilith and Steven are moving away" Evangeline blurted out. "What? The Edmonton family have lived in the house for centuries" Harvey said, but Evangeline nodded. "They want a fresh start and I do not blame them" She said. "The Nunier's are leaving too, Cordelia confirmed" She added.
"I don't know how that Jonathan boy is going to live knowing Felicity is leaving" Harvey told her. "Is that how you felt? When Vivi left you?" Evangeline asked. "Like dying? Kind of, but I understood why. I didn't want her to feel the wrath of Dennis. I just wanted the best for Emmanuel and Natalia and if that was them not knowing their true father then I would have done so" Harvey tells her.
"Emmanuel, is he?" Evangeline asks. "Yes he was named after you, I wonder what kind of person he would have been if he didn't die a few minutes after birth." Harvey wonders. Evangeline shrugs and sighs, and tears slip out. "I wish you married her, I'm glad you were the one she loved, thank you for loving my daughter Harvey Volkov, you are a good man" Evangeline tells him truthfully, and walks away.
For Harvey Volkov would never love a woman as he had loved Vivian Agnelli. She was not a mentally disturbed woman, she was a woman that needed to be loved. A woman that wanted more to life. He had thanked God for Vivian providing him beautiful children that the world just had to take from him.
He knows how Jonathan loves Felicity. As much it would pain him, Felicity needed to leave. For her staying would cause him more and more pain. The same for her, knowing she could not love him the same anymore. Harvey prayed to God for the separation to work out. Maybe Jonathan and Felicity were Harvey and Vivian, done the right way.
