Chapter 36 : Going Back

Snow was covering the ground, and the rooftop of King Cross Station, on this morning of January.

Christmas holidays had gone by fast, and students who had left were returning to school.

"Okay kids, time to say goodbye." Mum said with a sad smile.

"Don't worry mum, we'll see each other soon." I tried to make her feel better.

"I know dear." She replied, and then turned to everyone."Take care of yourselves. Love you."

"Love you too!"

***

"GINNY!!!" I heard. Melissa and Laliah, two of my dorm mates, called me as I stepped in the train.

"Hey!!" I replied, and greeted them. "How was your holiday?"

"That was great!" Laliah smiled.

"Yeah same." Melissa agreed. "What about you?"

"It was wonderful. Well except for the part where I nearly got killed with Harry as we were running for our lives, followed by a few death eaters." I said rather casually.

"What?!" They both gasped.

"Well, we're all okay. Ron and Hermione are too. Nothing to worry about." I smiled.

"Wow." Laliah laughed. "And I thought the fact that I had won 20 gallions at Wizards Gamies was interesting!"

"True!" Melissa laughed too.

"How about we find a compartment?" Laliah proposed. "Well, if you want to sit with us." She added.

"Yeah. No problem. I'd be happy to sit with you." I smiled genuinely.

"I can't believe it's actually the last time we take the train to Hogwarts." Melissa sighed.

"Yeah.. that's kinda sad." Laliah agreed.

"I guess so." I said, making them realized that I didn't remember any of my other 6 years there.

"Oh.." Laliah said awkwardly. "You know.. I think you will probably remember everything someday." She said, more to convince herself than me.

"If you say so."

She was about to add something when the compartment door opened.

"Oh." I heard my favorite voice ever say. "I was looking for you!" He said with a smile.

"Well I'm here." I smiled.

"Hey!" He said, turning to Laliah and Melissa.

"Hey Harry." They both replied.

Harry decided to stay here with me during the trip and it actually became awkward when Melissa asked.

"Are you two finally a thing again?"

I could feel myself blush in this instant. What should we say?

"Er.. not really." Harry tried to lie, and apparently that seemed to work.

"Oh. Sorry." Melissa said, trying to hide her laughter.

"Excuse her ! she makes everything awkward all the time!" Laliah said, trying not to laugh too.

"No problem." The thing is, I too was trying to stay serious.

"So" Harry interrupted the awkwardness. "What did you get for Christmas?"

***

All the students were stepping out of the train, when I grabbed Harry by the arm and lead him to an empty compartment.

"Why are we here?" He said.

"Stop acting like you don't know." I smiled.

He sighed and put his hands on my hips with a smirk.

"See? " I smiled.

But before I could say more he kissed me passionately.

The truth was that, whenever I could, I would spend an insignificant number of minutes with Harry, and those minutes would turn into the best I could ever hope for. Just like that moment, that we had to end to join the others without them suspecting anything.

And moments like those, would stay in my heart forever, not matter how long they lasted.

"I wish we didn't have all of those lessons!! I mean Hogwarts is great, but herbology? Divination? Really?" I sighed, letting myself fall next to Hermione onto the couch.

"Well, herbology is really interesting! It's just that you don't pay enough attention to it." Hermione replied. "As for divination...well I kind of agree with you."

"Yeah. Everyone in that castle knows that you -aka the most serious student Hogwarts have ever seen walking in its corridors- ran out of class in your first year of divination. Even I know, and I can't even remember it. And anything that you don't understand isn't interesting, but everything else is, isn't it?" I half laughed.

"Well.." she said, blushing. "Divination isn't something that you can learn. I mean, seeing the future, predict things... it's a gift. You can't learn."

"Well what Harry predicted to me with the cups was kinda true." Ron popped in, Harry following close behind.

"What do you mean?" Hermione furrowed her brows in confusion.

"Don't you remember?" Ron smiled.

"You gonna suffer, but you gonna be happy about it." Harry sighed, understanding in his eyes.

"Exactly." Ron said. "I suffered. I nearly lost my arm, and I lost my brother, and I did suffer. But now that it's over, I'm happy. So.. how do you explain it Hermione?"

"It must have been a coincidence." She said stubbornly. "And.. I didn't know you could remember things that happened so long ago.." she smiled.

"Always the tone of surprise." Ron laughed.

***

"Are you sure?" I asked as Harry was taking me to the so called "room of requirement", so that we could work together without being interrupted.

"Yeah. I've been there like a thousand times before." He assured me.

"Okay.. I trust you." I smiled.

"We don't have the choice anyway. Imagine if someone walked in during a moment we were particularly concentrated?" He said sarcastically.

"What can we work on? I mean... on our.. connection.. I know.. but.. how?"

"I know a bit of occlumency. I was awful at it with Snape but with you it must be alright."

"Are you sure we can do this?"

"That could help us." He nodded.

"Like.. like when we're away.. I mean we could feel each other's presence.. maybe we could actually be apart."

"Like when you'll go to the Auror training in two weeks." I sighed.

"Exactly."

"Fine. Let's try."

"Are you ready Weasley?"

"I'm always ready Potter."
