Chapter Thirty: The Philosopher's Stone

A/n: Thank you for reading my very long story! There will be five more chapters after this! Even so, the end is near! Don't forget to read and comment! :)

At the time that Sirius and Severus Snape arrived at the forbidden floor of Hogwarts and in front of Fluffy, it was a huge surprise for them to see a harp playing endlessly allowing the enormous giant-sized and black three-headed dog sleeping a few inches away from the trapdoor. They were not exactly sure if the children passed through Fluffy but they were convinced enough that someone arrived to get the dog to fall asleep caused of a musical charm.

Sirius opened the door, and before the dog had awakened, they entered the door one person at a time, They landed on a very slimy Devil's Snare, and at the time they had landed there, they just simply got out of it as they had calmed themselves and did not panic. Even so, they had not yet reached where the kids could have been and when they arrived at the key room, they were convinced that the children they were looking for passed the Devil's Snare as they saw a small Hogwarts Patch. Severus Snape looked behind it and saw that it was owned by Ron as his name was written on it. "What were those kids thinking about?? How can they do a very dangerous mission on their own?"

Sirius Black scoffed at his question. "There were two Gryffindors beside Harry who chose to be in Slytherin. Up until now, I am worried about your upbringing! If I find my godson in a very bad condition, I will keep questioning Professor Dumbledore's decision!"

"Have I asked Harry to make his own decision and go against the thief who wanted to steal the Philosopher's Stone?" Snape raised his eyebrow as he opened the door going to the next challenge which was a huge chess board. "It was Harry and his friends who got themselves in a very dangerous situation!"

"They are very brave kids and I admire them for it but bravery should not be a cause of overestimating yourself!" Sirius screamed when he saw Ron lying down near a broken stone horse. He was scathed and wounded, but he was breathing. "Harry and his friends are still children."

Severus Snape sighed. "I admit that but the kids wanted to do something. They did not ask me for any permission, at all! All of them broke several school rules! Even so, I want you to take Ron back and get him immediately to the Hospital Wing."

"What?" Sirius Black didn't want to leave as he wanted to find Harry. "Shouldn't it be you?"

"If I leave, would you be able to pass the next challenge?" Severus Snape asked him. "The next challenge after this was a blockage that I have placed myself. Even if the kids and even the thief could have passed it, it is the only blockage that will stay in place, unlike the other traps."

"Alright!" he told him. "I'll take the kid to Hospital Wing and you can keep going to look for the other two kids."

...

At the time Snape stepped inside the room filled with different scents, he saw seven bottles containing different potions. The scent of each potion was so thick and could easily make someone hazy but at the time he arrived there, he was astounded to see that Harry, Hermione nor the thief were inside that very room making him believe that they passed the puzzle that he placed before anyone could pass the room where they hid the Sorcerer's Stone. Soon enough, a voice boomed across the room telling him of his mission and also, a clue on how to pass the puzzle:

"Danger lies before you, while safety lies behind,
Two of us will help you, whichever you would find,
One among us seven will let you move ahead,
Another will transport the drinker back instead,
Two among our number hold only nettle wine,
Three of us are killers, waiting hidden in line.
Choose, unless you wish to stay here for evermore,
To help you in your choice, we give you these clues four:
First, however, slyly the poison tries to hide
You will always find some on nettle wine's left side;
Second, different are those who stand at either end,
But if you would move onwards, neither is your friend;
Third, as you see clearly, all are different sizes,
Neither dwarf nor giant holds death in their insides;
Fourth, the second left and the second on the right
Are twins once you taste them, though different at first sight."

Even if Snape created the puzzle, he knew that he must also think carefully about which bottle he would choose. Since the giant bottle is not poison and it is a twin to the second from the left, he knew that those two are nettle wine, therefore, two of the poisons are to the left of it. The ones at each end were different. Since he knew the left end would be poison, he knew both of those bottles were nettle wines and it will not help him move onwards while the rightmost bottle sends him back. This leaves 2 bottles and we know the dwarf is not poison, so it must be the one to move ahead. The last bottle would be the last poison.

Soon after that, he picked up the mall, round, purple potion and the small, blue, squared potion. He drank the whole content and at the time he woke up, it was a huge surprise to him when he saw fire covering the whole underground chamber and at the time it dissipated and vanished, he ran and saw Harry fighting against an emaciated Quirrell, and saw that another head was attached behind him. He knew immediately that it was a part of the soul of Tom Riddle and with all of Quirrell's last strength, tried to get the stone from Harry's hand. The child may have dropped the red stone from his hands but its power stayed with him. Harry touched Quirrell's face while he tried his best to protect himself but his head began to turn into ashes until, he dropped into but mere ashes, releasing Tom Riddle's soul away from its container.

At once, after Snape was able to get closer to Harry, tears began to spread around his cheeks as he saw him drop and collapse. Luckily, he was able to catch him. "Forgive me if I was so late to come to you."

Harry opened his eyes slightly and smiled when he saw his guardian. He was holding him tightly in his arms and he knew that the man before him would entirely give his life to protect him. He may once be a Death Eater but now, he turned back against them and decided that he would protect them. "Thank you for coming, Dad."

"Where is Hermione?" Snape asked him upon realizing that he hasn't found her, yet. "What happened to her?"

Soon enough, they saw Hermione running next to them. She also had a lot of tears on her cheeks since she became so scared. She was able to feel okay and comfortable when she saw their potion master holding Harry's left side as they began walking out of the underground chamber. "Are you alright, Harry?"

Harry was only able to nod at her since his body was hurting everywhere after he had fought against Quirrell.

"Looks like you're unscathed, Ms. Granger," Snape noticed. "What happened to you?"

"We arrived in this room at the same time and saw Professor Quirrell standing in front of a mirror and he seemed to be having a difficult time at that time," Hermione began narrating. "Soon enough, he became aware of us and saw Harry. He called him to stand next to him but after Harry stood near him, he held his wand up and spoke a spell that threw me off away from them and when I hit a wall, I fainted."

"I'm happy that you are alright," Harry told her. "I'm sorry if I placed you in danger."

Hermione blushed. "That's okay with me, Harry! I volunteered to come with you."
