CHAPTER THIRTY: COMING BACK

Maddie and her kids was at Diego's and Lila's place. Maddie has gotten worried about Five, she was scared that something had happen to him.

While Noa and Sam was playing with Diego's and Lila's kids. Maddie was sitting on the couch.

"You okay?" she looked up to see Luther "I'm just worried about Five" she replied "He will be fine, he is probably on the way here as we speak" Luther said "I hope so" she sighed.

"Are you hungry?" he asked and she looked at him "'Cause I am" he smiled and she chuckled "I could eat" she got up before the two walked to the kitchen.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he is fine" Luther said and she nodded.

"Everything looks normal" Five said as him and walked up to the porch where her and Diego lived.

"It's possible they solved the Cleanse without us" he said as they stopped in front of the door and they could hear indistinct laughter and chatter.

Both Lila and Five took some deep breath before Five looked at her "Hey, you good?" he asked "It's been six years since I've seen my kids, Five. I'm scared" she said "It's has being years for me since I have seeing my kids too. And Maddie, my wife. I'm scared too" he said "What are you scared of?" she asked "I'm scared that they won't love me like they did before, that they have forgotten me" he replied "I'm scared that my kids wouldn't love me like they did before too" Lila said and Five let out a sigh.

"What if things changes? What if my kids don't need me anymore? And Diego? We weren't doing well before I left" Lila looked at Five again. Her eyes looked for empathy in his, or maybe even an answer.

He let out a sigh. She sounded foolish, but Five related to her.

Was Maddie waiting for him?

"Your family loves you, and they need you. They are waiting for you. Missing you at this exact moment" he said.

Emotionel has never being Five's strong suit, all he could do was being honest. And he was. His brother loved Lila, even if it was foolish and he could definitely not understand why. Not many things in life was certain but that was.

"Are you sure?" she asked "You're the only one stupid enough to question that" he said and she let out a small chuckled.

"Let's hope that it has only been a few hours for them and that nothing's changed" he said "You promise?" she asked "Yeah" he nodded "Promise" he said.

Then the door opened and they saw Diego "You're back!" he smiled as he looked at Lila "We are" Lila said "Good. Yeah" Diego approached Lila "I was starting to get worried" he said before hugging her.

He then pulled away to look at her "What?" she asked "Oh, I don't know. I...I missed you" he said "You did?" she asked "Yeah! I mean, why wouldn't I?" he smiled "It's just, I...I can't remember the last time you said that" she said "Yeah" he nodded "Sorry about that" he looked down with a guilty face "That's gonna change" he looked at her again.

"Lot of things are gonna change now" he said.

"Is Maddie here with the kids?" Five asked his brother "Yeah" Diego nodded and Five walk past Diego before stepping into the house.

"DADDY!" Five looked towards the voice to see his son Noa "Daddy, you're back!" he smiled and Five ran towards his son who ran towards him.

Noa jumped up in his dad's arm who hugged him tight.

"Hey Goofball" Five smiled as he held his son in his arms.

"DADDY!" Sam rushed into the living room and Five crouched down before he opened up his right arm so Sam could join the hug which she did.

"Hey Buttercup" Five smiled as he hugged his kids.

He then lifted his head and he smiled even more when he saw his wife enter the living room with a smile on her face when she spotted him.

"Hey Love" he said "Hey honey" Maddie approached him and the couple gave each other a kiss before Maddie joined the hug.

"We missed you daddy" Sam said "I missed you too, so much" Five said "I'm glad you are home daddy" Noa said "I'm glad to be home too" he hugged them tighter.

"I have missed you so much" he said "I saw you not long ago. When did you last see me?" Maddie asked.

How long has passed that his eyes now seemed so hopeful that she would heal him? Why did he look so desperate, almost begging for her to touch him? To talk to him?    

A single tear fell from Five's eyes as he was hugging his wife and kids. So happy to be with them again after being away from them for over six years.  

"You can let go now daddy" Noa said "Just a bit longer" Five hugged them tighter while a tear of joy fell from his eyes, as he was relieved over to be with his family again.

"You're squishing us" Noa said and the four pulled away.

"Why are you crying dad?" Noa asked "Are you sad?" Sam asked as the three noticed Five had tears in her eyes.

"Are you okay?" Maddie asked "Yeah" Five nodded "I'm just happy over that I'm with you three, and I missed you so much. And I love you, always and forever" he said "We love you too, always and forever" the three said.

"Mommy's home!" Grace said and Lila step into the house to see her daughter Grace.

Lila crouched down and Grace ran into her mom's arms "Oh my god" Lila breathing tremulously as she hugged her daughter while she let out a sob and laugh softly.

"You can let go of me now, mommy" Grace said "Just a little longer" Lila said as she was also relieved over she was with her family again. "But you're squishing my face" Grace said and the two pulled away.

"Why are you crying?" Grace asked as she noticed the tears in her mom's eyes and Lila smiled "I'm just so happy to see you" she said "You okay?" Diego asked and Lila looked at him "Yeah" she nodded "Come here!" he said and Grace ran over to her dad who lifted her up in his arms while Five lifted Noa up in his arms as Maddie did the same with Sam.

Then the door opened and Klaus entered with Allison and Claire "Oh!" Klaus said as he entered "It smell so nice in here" he entered the living room "Hey! How's it going?" he asked "There you guys are" Maddie smiled as she gave Sam to Five who had put Noa down.

"Oh! Yo, yo, yo! Shoes" Diego told them "Oh, sorry" Klaus started taking off his shoes while Grace put golden stickers on Diego's face while Sam was playing with her dad's hair with her left hand while she with the other was putting pink stickers on his face who let her do it. He usually don't like it, but he had missed his family so much that he didn't care now. He was enjoying the time with his family.

"Wait, what's' with the dirt?" Diego asked as he noticed that Klaus had dirt all over him.

 "Oh, yeah. Allison, Maddie and Claire Bear had to dig me out of the grave of a dead greyhound" Klaus explain while Sam was now braiding small tip of Five's hair before putting small pink bows on the braids.

"Is anyone hungry? My god, I could eat a horse" Klaus said before he entered the kitchen "Hey, family" he said to Lila's family.

"Long story" Maddie said while Lila walked over to Allison "Hello" Allison said a little confuse as Lila wrapped her arms around her.

"Oh, hi. Uh..." Allison said confuse, not really understand why Lila was hugging her. 

"I'm famished. If I can get a little sandwich..." Klaus said in the kitchen.

Lila then pulled away "It's so good to see you" she said "You too" Allison said confuse as Lila hugged Claire before hugging Maddie.

Five put Sam down who run over to the kitchen "Hey princess" Klaus smiled as he lifted Sam up in his arms.

Five looked at Maddie who chuckled at the way he look. His face had pink stickers on and some tip of his hair was braid with pink bows.

"What?" he asked "You look so funny" she started taken the stickers off before she began taken off the bows and unbraid his hair.

"You never like when she does that to you" she said "Well, I just missed you all so much" he said "What happen at your time travel stuff, did you find an solution?" she asked "No" he shook his head.

"And something went wrong" he said "What?" she asked.

Then she spotted his bruises and swollen knuckles "What happen?" she lifted up his hands to her face before kissing them.

"What happen?" she asked "I did it to myself" he said "Why?" she asked "I have something I want to tell you" he said "Okay, what is it?" she asked "Before I tell you, you gotta promise me to let me explain" he said "I promise" she said and he let out a sigh.

"Five, you're my husband, I'm your wife, we agree no secrets between each other, so whatever it is you want to tell me, tell me" she said.

Five was about to open his mouth to tell her but they were cut off by Diego "Come, dinner's ready!" he called "Tell me later, now let's have some family time" Maddie grab Five's hand who smile with a nod before the two walked over to the dinner table.

(A/N: Love that scene with Five and Sam where she put stickers on his face, I think it was cute to write in, and cute to write some scenes with Five and his kids. Then we can see what kind of father he is. And I think Five is a good dad. Just like Diego. Hope you like the scenes with Five and his kids too)

After they have eating, Maddie and the others was all sitting in the living room while Grace, Clarie, Noa and Sam was watching TV.

Diego kissed Lila on the cheek and she looked over at Five who had his left arm wrapped around Maddie as the two kissed, so happy being with each other again.

"So what is our plan?" Maddie asked "We don't know" Five replied "But we gotta stop Ben somehow, or I have to step in" she said "I will not let that happen" Five said "If we can't find another way then we have to" Maddie said.

There was a few minutes of silence and Maddie noticed that something was wrong with Five. It was like he was guilty over something.

"You okay?" he looked at her. 

"Hey, has anyone heard from Viktor?" Luther suddenly asked "He told me that he had a plan, he wanted to take Ben's Marigold from him" Maddie said "Maybe he found Ben and Jennifer" Klaus said as he was eating some snaks.

"Surely he would've called, let a message" Allison said "So we all struck out? God, what a bunch of losers" Klaus said "Well, not entirely" Luther said before him and Diego fist bump "Yeah" Luther smiled before he looked at Five "Deputy Director Ribbons is a Keeper, along with other agents at the CIA" he said "It's your boss, Five" Diego said "Yeah" Luther nodded "It turns out Gene and Jean also have a bigger movement than we thought" Diego said "Yeah, so we have to get to Ben and Jennifer before they do and stop the Cleanse" Luther said "Right, but we have to find them first" Allison said "Well yeah, they might be anywhere" Luther said "We gotta find 'em" Maddie said before she glanced at the others "But I think they have an army, so we might need one too" Maddie said "We have powers" Allison said "Which might not be enough to stop them" Maddie said "What is your plan then?" Allison said "You distract Gene and Jean, and I will find Ben" Maddie said.   

Luther then looked at Five "What's with you?" Five looked at him "You've barely said a word, Five. When does that ever happen?" he asked "It's called thinking, Luther. You should try it sometime" Five said annoying "Hey!" the others said "Whoa! Uncalled for!" Klaus said "Oh, shut up" Five told Kaus "Five, be nice" Maddie told her husband "I do think. I think you're an asshole!" Luther said to Five.

"It's Five's time at the month or grandpa has not have his nap" Klaus said "Can we not do this right now?" Allison asked "No, you know what? Let's do it right now" Five got up.

"We all struck out. There's nothing better to do" he said "Hon, we will figure something out" Maddie said "Five, it's gonna be okay" Lila told him "It's not gonna be okay" Five snapped at her.

"Oh, don't talk to my wife like that, man" Diego got up "Not around here. Not during Christmas" Diego approached Five "You're gonna do something about it, fuckface?" Five looked up at him.

"Hey!" Diego snapped "Whoa, language!" Allison said "Five, young ears" Maddie pointed at the four kids sitting by the TV.

"Yeah. I'm gonna k-i-c-k your a-s-s, my boy" Diego said "Mmm. Looks like somebody passed the first grade" Five said "Hey" Lila got up and so did Maddie "Both of you need to stop, okay?" they pushed Diego and Five away from each other.

Five scoff before leaving and Lila followed him.

"What the hell was that?" Lila asked as the two was standing outside.

"My wife might die because we haven't figure out a way to stop this. And not only that but we spend six years lost in a subway, lost in time, and also you kissed me which we haven't mention and I think we should" he told her "Why haven't you told Maddie?" she asked "I don't know how, even so it mean nothing that kiss, at least for me, I think still they should know" he said.

"It was just a kiss, it meant nothing, beside you pulled away rejecting it" she said "Then we should tell them that you kissed me" he said. 

"I don't know" he said "Lila, you can't keep ignore and run from your problem, we should tell them that we kissed" he said.

"What?" the two turned and Five's eyes widened when he saw Maddie.

 By the look on her face, Five could see that she have heard it.  

"Shit" he said, not wanted his wife to find out that way. 

Maddie stared at her husband as she stood frozen.

"Love, let me--" but she turned around "Maddie!" Five rushed after Maddie inside.

"Maddie, wait!" he caught up to her when she entered the living room "What?" she turned to him and he stop "Is it true?" she asked "What is?" Diego asked as Lila also ran into the living room and stood next to Five.

"Is there something going on between the two of you?" Maddie pointed between Five and Lila "What?" Diego walked up to stand next to Maddie.

"No, there is nothing going between us" Five said "BUT YOU JUST SAID THAT YOU TWO KISSED!" Maddie shouted "WHAT?" Diego asked before he looked at his wife "Is it true?" he asked.

Lila took a deep breath "Diego---" "Holy shit!" Diego said "Oh wow!" Klaus said while Allison and Luther glanced at each other in surprise.

"Holy shit!" Diego said "What?" Allison asked "I didn't see that one coming" Klaus said "Holy shit! I was right!" Diego looked at Lila "The book club. All this time. I knew you were cheating on me with..." he pointed on Five "I wasn't cheating, at least not when you thought I was" Lila said "Should we go? We should go" Allison told Klaus and Luther "We're not going anywhere" Klaus said.

"You cheated on me" a single tear fell from Maddie's eyes "No, I--" but then Maddie slap Five across the face causing the others to gasp.

Five rubbed his cheek before looking at Maddie's face to only see pain and betrayal.

"Love---" but Diego got in between him and Maddie "Did you s-k-r-e-w my wife?" he asked.

"'Screw' is spelled s-c-r-e-w" Noa and Grace said which caused Klaus to spit out his juice as he coughed and sputtering.

"NO!" Five said "Okay, you need to listen to me, all right?" Lila put a hand on Diego's shoulder before pulling him a little bit away "No matter how strange this sounds, just listen" she said and he nodded "Five and I, we've been lost in a subway" she said and Diego let out a small scoff and a laugh.

"It's not a regular subway. It's a waypoint between alternate timelines of the same moment in time" she said "Yeah" Diego put his arms on cross in front of his chest "Think I'm gonna buy that bullshit?" he asked "She's telling the truth, all right?" Five said and Diego looked at him "We got lost. We couldn't find our way back" Five said and Diego looked back at Lila.

"We were searching for six years, my love" Five told his wife who just look at him "For over six years" Lila said as she looked at Diego and the two looked down while everyone look down with a sympathy look, feeling sorry for Five and Lila.

"We were moving from timeline to timeline. We had no idea what we would find. We were chases, attacked, shot at" Lila explain while she was sitting next to Diego who put his hands to his face.

"I never stopped trying to find a way home, a way back to the kids, to you and finally I did" Five said as Maddie was looking at him, his voice sound guilty and he also look like that 'cause he was.

"But I got tired, and I had to stop running" Lila looked at Diego as he remove his hands from his face "Um, that's when it happened" she explain also feeling guilty over it.

"That is still not a good reason" Maddie had her arms on cross in front of her chest.

"I know, and I wish it never happen---" "Did you really sleep with her?" Maddie asked "No" Five shook his head "I would never do that" he said "But you cheated on me" she said "No. I would never do that either, you know me" he said "I don't even know if I do" she said.

"Listen to me" Five approached his wife but she took a step back "Lila kissed me, I didn't kissed her back, I pulled away. That is the truth" he said "It's true, I was caught in the moment. I kissed him but he immediately pulled away, told me that he love you and he would never do it. I heard him smash his fists against a wall after that, punish himself for it" Lila said and Maddie looked at her.

Then Maddie slap Lila across the face causing everyone to let out a gasp "Maddie!" Diego said "No, it's okay, I deserve that" Lila said as she rub her cheek before she looked back at Maddie.    

"I'm sorry, okay. I should never have done it" Lila said and Maddie looked back at Five.

"I regret it, and even so I didn't kiss her back, I still felt like I cheated on you" he said "Oh, you did" Maddie said angry.

For some strange reason, her hormones was raising like crazy right now which made her more angry.

"Why would you do it?" she asked "I was stupid okay" he said "Yeah" she nodded.

"But" he grab her hands "I love you okay, and I'm so so so sorry" he stroke his thumb up and down on her knuckles "Please forgive me" she looked into his eyes.

"I can't" she remove her hands from his as his face fell "Maybe it's best we take a break from each other" his eyes widened "No" he shook his head.

But Maddie turned around "Love!" Five rushed after her.

"Please listen to me" he followed her up the stairs "Leave me alone" she said

"Please, I love you" he said "If you did, you would never had kissed her" she said "I didn't kissed her" he said "But you could have just pulled away, okay" she said "I didn't had the time to react" he said.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she stopped as she turned to face him "I didn't know how. And I'm so sorry, I should have told you, but I was scared okay, beside I was going to" he said and she scoff before she turned around again.

"Maddie, please, let me explain..." he grab her shoulder "GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!" she turned as her eyes glow red before she used her powers on Five, throwing him backwards causing his back to hit the wall and he let out a grunt as he fell to the floor.

He looked up at Maddie who look so broken. What have he done? The way she look at him, it was like he was the enemy and maybe he was. He promised he would never hurt her, but he did.

"I'm sorry" Maddie then turned around before going into the bathroom and closed the door.

"Love" Five rushed over to the door before he tried to open it but it was lock.

"Maddie, please talk to me" Five knock on the door "Lila kissed me, but I pulled away and I know that I should never have even let her reach me, please, I love you. You know how much I love you, please forgive me, please give me another chance" he said "Go away" Maddie sob.

"Love, please. Please, you know I would never hurt you or leave you. I love you, always and forever. You are the only woman that holds the key to my heart, please" he put his hand on the door and Maddie did the same.

"Please open the door" he said "Leave me alone" she sob and he let out a sigh.

"Okay, I will leave you alone, but promise me that we will talk after this, I don't want to lose you" he slid his hand down at the same time Maddie did.

Five's world had collapsed. His vision got blurry, turning everything around him to black. He was scared that Maddie would never forgive him and he would lose his light, his happiness, his best friend, his other and better half, his world, his future, his first, true and only love, his everything.

Letting out a sigh Five walked back down to the living room. Hoping and wishing that his wife would forgive him and give him another chance.
