Starting work
RECAP (ASRAM'S POV)
I tried talking to Sara multiple times, but all I got was ignorance or a curt yes or no. She was avoiding me clearly. Adi and Aku also realized and looked at me questioningly but I just looked away. I knew it was my fault.
Sara's POV
The weekend after the last paper flew by quickly. I was behaving happy but my mind was clouded by the thoughts of a specific jerk. By Sunday night I had decided, I am not going to talk to him, unless ofcourse it is related to work. I will keep things strictly professional and mind y own business. With that promise to myself I fell asleep.
The next morning I quickly got ready and rushed downstairs. Bhai was waiting with his car keys. I told him that I was ready to go, but mom entered.
(A/N I am not very good at clothing and make up descriptions. Please look at the image above to understand what Sara has worn)
'You have not had your breakfast Sara beta. Have it quickly and then go.'
'No maa, please I don't want to be late.'
'Achaa okay, beta. Atleast wait one second. Mein dahi shakar leke aati hoon. Pehla din acha jayega' (Ok dear. Atleast wait a second. I will get curd and sugar. You have to eat it, your first day at work will go well)
(A/N Having curd and sugar, is thought to ensure that everything goes well)
'Ok maa, but thoda jaldi. Late ho raha hain' (Ok mom, but a little quick. I am getting late)
'Haan beta' (Yes dear) Saying that she rushed into the kitchen and returned with the sweet curd. I had a bite and then rushed out of the house with my brother. He quickly drove me there, wished me luck and asked me to call him if anything happens. I nodded and sprinted into the office. I got into the lift and went right upto the highest floor.
I met the receptionist there and she guided me to my office. She also explained to me all the things I was supposed to do. I liked this lady, she was quite sweet and introduced herself as Leanne Dale. After she explained everything to me, we spoke about some random things and instantly connected. She informed me that the boss, Asram, would arrive in a few minutes and said that she had to go. We promised to meet each other during the lunch break and she left the room.
A while later, my intercom rang. Curiously,I picked up the phone.
'Sara could you come in my office now. The work is urgent.'
'Sure sir' With that I put down the phone. I reminded myself that I couldn't let him hurt me again and that I have to be professional. I wore my blazer and made my way to his office, which was not far from mine. I knocked on the door and he asked me to enter.
'Sara, can you please-'
'Sir, I am sorry to interrupt but I would prefer if you call me Ms. Sharma since I allow only my family and friends to call me Sara. Pardon my audacity sir, but can you please behave professionally. You are supposed to call all your employees by terms like Ms., Mr and so on, unless of course you know them personally. '
'Sara, I am really sorry about that day. I was just too angry, but I should not have lost my temper on you. Please forgive me.' He looked extremely guilty, as though he had murdered someone. But he did right, he murdered my heart. He deserves this.
'It's Ms. Sharma, sir. I believe you had some work for me, how can I help you sir?' He sighed, a hurt look crossed his face, but he masked it away quickly.
'Yes Ms. Sharma. Could you please go and fetch me my coffee. Also get one for yourself and do bring a few tea cake slices for me, and yourself if you wish to have it, from the café downstairs. After that, on your laptop there is a file on the desktop, which connects all the employees and dedicates the tasks. Open your ID, I have sent the details to you via mail. It will show you your to-do list which I will keep updating. You must complete all your tasks and only then can you leave for the day. Unless, of course, it is mentioned that the specific task is due for some other day. You will report to me at the end of the day before leaving. Am I clear?'
'Yes sir' I replied in a monotone. 'Anything else?'
'No Ms. Sharma, could you please get me my coffee and tea cakes immediately.' I nodded and exited the room. I felt horrible. I knew he was sorry but I just didn't him to break my heart again. So it was better to protect myself from it.
I rushed to café to realize that I didn't ask him, how he wanted his coffee. Great job, Sara my brain mocked me. But, I gave it a guess.
'One Americano and one Latte please. Also, can I get a plate of tea cakes. Thank you' I collected the order and made my way back to his cabin. All I could think of was our cold behavior towards each other. What if things always stay like this. This thought caused a few tears to roll down my cheeks. I immediately wiped them and knocked on his door. 'Come in' His voice caused shivers to run down my spine. Oh god, what is happening to me.
Nevertheless, I entered the room. He looked at me, and seemed to realize that I cried. His eyes softened and I knew that he would try to investigate, so I quickly handed him his coffee.
'Were you crying Ms. Sharma. If it was because of me, then I am extremely sorry. You know where to find me if you ever want to talk. Also how did you know I liked black coffee?'
'Wild guess' but I was happy on the inside that I knew him well enough to guess this. 'Sir, is there anything else you need or can I leave?'
'You may leave Ms. Sharma. Thanks for getting me my coffee' I nodded, left the room and headed back to mine. I tried working but it was hard to concentrate. Luckily, I did get some work by lunchtime.
During lunch, I met Leanne, who helped me clear my head completely. She told me about her fiancé and her parents. I told her about my family and we gossiped about random things. She also told me how a lot of female interns and employees crush on the boss, Asram. Of course everyone liked him. He was filthy rich, he was famous and he looked like he just walked out of a magazine cover. I felt something odd though, I didn't know why, but I didn't like all these girls. No one should like him, only I can. What is happening to me. I am definitely going mad.
Just then I was pulled out of my trance when the seat beside me was taken by a handsome man, he looked Adi's age and had a smirk on his face. I noticed a glint in his eye. He seemed to be checking me out. I shrugged it off. I cleared my throat and he looked up at me.
'Hi beautiful, I am Manav Bhatt, I work in the HR department here.' His eyes roamed to a certain part of my body making me extremely uncomfortable. I motioned for Leanne to stand up and so did I.
'Hey beautiful, where are you going. Atleast tell me your name.'
'I have some work, It was good to meet you.' With that I nearly sprinted out of the café holding Leanne's wrist.
'Chill Sara, you are fine. Such people keep entering your life, you just have to ignore them and keep your distance.'
'Ya, I know. I am fine'
'Come on, Let's get back to work' I agreed and we headed to our floor. Once we got there, I calmed down. I headed to my office and started working. As I was working I didn't realize how fast time flew by. It was nearly 7:30 pm and almost everyone on the floor had left. I had a little work left and I decided that I would finish it before going home so that tomorrow would be a light day. Just as I finished my work the door opened. My back was facing the door.
I expected it to be Asram, so I just said 'Sir, I just finished my work and was about to come to your cabin.'
'Oh how I would love to have you in my cabin' the voice was familiar. It was that Manav guy I met at lunch.
I immediately turned around 'What do you want from me?'
'I want you to myself' he made his way towards me. I was standing behind my desk and he pushed himself on me. I knew how to protect myself, but had taken me by shock. I tried to push him of but he weighed much more then me and was not affected. He pulled me closer to himself and I could feel the intercom beside my ear, he seemed distracted and was checking the room for camera's, so I dialed the only number I could think of in that second. I changed the mode such that the receiver would be able to hear me, but his voice would not be heard over here. I was glad for the advanced technology in that second. The phone lightly vibrated, letting me know that he had picked the call.
I started struggling again and shouted 'Leave me you psycho'
'Not so soon beautiful. I am never going to leave you. I asked you your name during lunch but no ma'am had an attitude. I know everything about you, through my sources. I am going to make you mine. No one is there on the floor now, no one is going to save you from me' He cackled evilly. I cried softly and begged.
'Please let me go, I beg you' He just pushed himself closer. Suddenly, the door burst open and there stood my superman, Asram. Thank you Ganpati bapa. I was calm now, I knew I was safe with him here. He looked absolutely furious seeing the scene in front of him. He stormed towards Manav, a deadly look in his eyes.
'You creep, how dare you touch any girl, specially her. I am not going to spare you.' Saying that Asram started beating him. His rage could clearly be seen but I was afraid that he would kill Manav. Manav was already unconscious but that didn't stop Asram. I realized that I had to stop him, before he really kills Manav. So I quickly moved over to him, forcefully I pulled him away from Manav and hugged him tight. I just held onto him, he froze for a second before he put his arms around me and held me just as tight. I felt safe and his familiar scent calmed my nerves a little.
'Hey, shh...shh, you are safe. You are with me. I won't let anything happen to you as long as I am around. Take deep breaths and calm down. I am here with you S' A few minutes later, I pulled back. He held me by the shoulders and slowly wiped away my tears from my cheeks. His touch really did miracles, I felt at home in this position which was very weird but I was happy.
'Thank you so much Ash. I am so sorry for spoiling your shirt.' He smiled, a genuine smile. He was angry, but right now he seemed happy for some reason. He started grinning and realization hit me. Oh god, I ended up calling him Ash in the midst of all this chaos.
'Don't worry about my shirt and you don't have to thank me you know. By the way Sweetheart, I do prefer being called Ash' he winked, bringing a smile to my face. I was sure my cheeks were a bright shade of red. He smiled back at me once and then his face turned into a frown as he looked at the unconscious body behind him. He walked over to the intercom and dialed some unknown number. A minute or so later, a group of well-built men entered the room and dragged Manav out. I looked up questioningly at Asram who just smiled, 'My bodyguards'
'You don't seem to need bodyguards. You nearly killed Manav on your own.'
'Well, they help me in such situations and also when I am in front of the media or large crowds where there are chances of me being attacked. Or girls throwing themselves on me. You may not believe it but it is true.'
'Do You know, the only thing the girls achieve by that?'
'What do they achieve?'
'They boost your already over-inflated ego' He grinned at that.
'Well are you ready to leave?'
'Yes sir, it's just that you have to review my work'
'Please forgive me naa, S. I really am sorry about that. Look, the thing is I had a mild heart attack when I heard that my sister was dating. According to me she is still the little girl who used to steal away my chocolates and cry about me troubling her. Though she still does that, I know she has grown. I was angry at first but I had no right to shout at you. Specially one thing that I told you. I don't want you to mind your own business when it comes to matters related to me. You better give me your opinion all the time. Remember, you used to be like the expert advise panel I used to always go to. I want that back and once again. I am sorry S. What shall I do so that you will forgive me?' I thought for a second. I had forgiven him, the minute I saw him enter the room, while Manav had trapped me, but I wanted to give him a punishment, just for my amusement. I tapped my chin as though I was thinking.
'Fine you will have to come shopping with me and Akshita this weekend. No excuses allowed and we get to buy whatever we want, you pay. You can't crib that you are bored or tired even once. If you do, then we repeat the punishment. Cool?'
'You really are angry on me. Your punishment is too cruel Ms. Sharma. But fine , we have a deal. Now can we leave. I trust you, I know you completed all the work.'
'But still Asram...'
'Fine I will review it for you once we get into the car. Look I jut need to get out of this place, and I know that you do too.'
'Okay, let's go. Actually, can you check it tomorrow. I have to wait for a while. I need to call bhai to come pick me up.'
'My sister is right, you are mental. Wait a second' He removed his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number.
'Hey Adi. Listen, you don't need to worry about picking Sara today, I will drop her home. I also need to talk to you, uncle and aunty about something.'
I heard my brother reply 'Ok bhai. Bhai, mom was asking whether you are having dinner with us. Since it is already dinner time. And if you are coming over to drop Sara you will reach home late. Actually now you have no choice. You are going to eat dinner at our place. My mom already called your mom and told her. So you guys just come soon ok. See you'
'So I guess we can leave now. Any other problems Sara?' He asked raising his eyebrow, a small smirk on his face. I so wished to swipe that smirk of his face, but I shook my head no and picked all my stuff. We left and headed straight to the parking lot. There were only a few cars, I guessed his car easily and made my way towards it.
'How did you know that this one was mine?' He seemed confused, since I have never seen this car of his before.
'Well it was the most expensive one in the lot. Such a silly question. You and bhai are too similar.' I said in a duh tone. He just shrugged and we got into the car. The engine roared loudly and we started for my house. The car was extremely comfortable and the fact that we were getting away from the situation made me feel much better. Asram asked me to read out a few things from the documents that I had prepared. I did as I was asked. He seemed impressed, by the time I finished.
'That was very well written. Quite a lot of experienced people can't write like this. Good job, Keep it up!'
'Thank you' I beamed happily, I had been a little nervous about whether he would like the write up or not. A few minutes later we reached home.
