So close but so far.
The room was slient apart from the machines that supplied life.
Clicking..
Ticking..
Breath..
Repeat.
Law licks his lips to hide the dehydration that was catching up with him, sleep deprivation was soon to follow. This all was finished by a sigh; his hands move to his kness and he uses this to help himself up.
Clicking..
Tick-
~crack~
With a low grunt Law stood straight, placing a hand to the back of his neck.
He knows that he shouldn't have went out and looked for her but what if he didn't? Law shook his head, black strands of hair protesting along with him. He wanted no such thought. Kaliona was stable enough but wasn't out of the water. The zombie of a man forced his legs to guide him to her bed side so he could take notes of her vital signs and log them as he had been doing hours in advanced to this. He was afraid to leave her alone in such condition.
Her eyes..
Thoughts of confusion were very clear due to the almost cringe like expression forming slowly across his facial features.
What happened?
"How is she?" A small voice ripped Law from all thoughts, added to this was a small head turn showing that he indeed acknowledged her presence. Being who it was, he wasn't entirely sure that he could face the poor creature.
"She's alright."
The lie that fell from his lips, made a nose dive to the floor but instead on the way down hooked into his heart with its tiny razer fingers saving itself just enough to allow Law to feel guilty. He didn't want to tell her she wasn't okay but he didn't want to tell Macy that she was. He honestly had no idea. He couldn't diagnose the entirety of the situation but simply treat her for the similarities she has to other diagnosis. Law focused on every pathological explanation, every detail of every scenario, and in his free time he even read over multiple rare, even common documented poisons and their effects.
Nothing.
In passing Law placed a hand on Macy's shoulder. "She's going to-"
"Thank you." Macy was quick to cut off Laws sympathy speech. The words felt like poison but he brushed past it and exited the room. Leaving her to grieve over her master. Perhaps she felt as guilty as he did since she wasn't there either. Maybe she felt like it was her fault for Kaliona's condition. Law couldn't help but question this whole thing.
What was he over looking?
Only have walked a few steps from the metal door he had just closed, the slender yet built man, standing approximately 6'3, stopped in his tracks. A cold sweat beginning to form, causing his forehead to glisten slightly in the soft lighting of the submarine's empty hallway.
No.
~
The night was black and still. The coldness stretched it's bitter fingers far as it could reach, freezing droplets on the trees, flowers, even leaving some frozen speckles in spider webs along the way. The water was even still tonight except for a small waves occasionally. Within the softly rocking submarine; a snor here, machines there, but mostly peaceful, along with the crew camped a shore. If you looked out a sub window facing land you would see the camper's tents with a soft glow of small camp fires that fended off the darkness and cold.
-gasp-
Kaliona's eyes snapped open.
Kaliona
I can't breath.
Instinctfully my hand reaches up grabbing the object that was lodged in my throat.
I try to not gag but I couldn't even do that.
Grip.
Harder.
1.
2.
Pull!
I clench my eyes shut as my face scrunches. The texture of a snake would be similar to the texture of the tube that was being pulled from my throat. It was as if I was sleeping with my mouth open and a snake just happened to come along, and pop in for a quick snooze. As I had hypothesize, once the tube was removed, I began brusting out into a violent coughing fit that resulted in to gagging. I grab the sheets and bring them to my mouth, muffling the noise to the best of my ability.
That was an awful idea.
I can feel my face beaming with heat, my head wasn't helping much either by pounding.
And, I for one am no doctor but I'm pretty sure that there is not floating spots in the room.
My hands finds my head, were my thumbs get to work massaging my temples.
I look around the room trying to place myself but I was left squinting in to a dark space full of odd shapes. The lighting on the, now noted, medical equipment was doing a fantastic job of making me cringe. Though there was lighting, kind of any way, coming from the machines it did not help my situation. It actually made it worse. The objects looked odd but with the lighting they now looked abnormal. I look down to my hands. My eyes traced from my fingertips all the way up to nearly my shoulder then back down. By the looks of it, it seems like some little doctor had difficulty keeping I.Vs in. The bruising was not bad and I actually hardly felt it. I took my index finger on my right hand and pushed in on a bruise that was located just below my wrist on my left hand.
Nothing.
I press harder.
Nothing.
I try another one. This one is located in the crook of my arm still on my left. By the darkness of this bruise it looks as if it may have been a blown-out vein. I repeat the same process.
Nothing.
I press harder.
Nothing.
Hmm.
I let my right hand fall and rest next to my left, both have been placed comfortably in my lap.
"I could really use some air." My voice was harsh and nearly startled me due to the fact that it didn't even sound like me. Both my hands come to my throat to massage it just like they did my temples. My lips were dry and cracking flakes of skin on my bottom lip begin to rise brushing against my upper lip. In a slight desperate attempt, I trace my tongue around the lining of my lips to try and wet it. Needless to say my attempt proved to be a waste because my mouth was just as dry as my lips.

The rumors of a great war had spread rather quickly over the pass years. It seems with every year they grew more and more like warnings instead of rumors. Kaliona had began training long before these words reached her once virgin ears. Her skill with a bow was, in light terms, truly graceful and flawless. Kaliona was one that used the element of surprise to her advantage. Needless to say, you want her on your side. She made a title for herself. Not a bad one but a respected one.
That's what Law loved about her the most. She never wanted the attention, nor the fame and fortune. Kaliona wanted to be free, survive and do right. The success of her age was astonishing being only 24 years old. The young woman had managed to obtain a fairly nice size ship, a small fortune for herself with plenty to spare for her crew, and has managed to add to her cre, what seems to be like every week. A soul that meets her never wants to leave. She's almost like the word home.
Kaliona is home.
Law had been quite fond of this. Now he wasn't exactly saying that his crew isn't loyal or that they didn't respect him, but the way people treated her was 100% differently than any other pirates he'd ever encountered including himself. You could guess it's because she doesn't exactly look like everyone's typical image of a pirate. But who's to say that all pirates look the same? The girl is small only standing barely over 5'2. Her hair was a blond mixed with black, it reached slightly past her bottom almost making a V shape with straight hair up top that lead into beautiful waves and occasional curls. Her skin was flawless no signs of blemishes or scars on her face or exposing skin. Kaliona's figure was one of a very fit personnel. Her curves were flawless. She was strict about personal maintenance when it came to physical activity and training. You could almost say that she was OCD about her well-being, now not saying that she is prideful and all about herself but she does take care of herself. Followed along with the fact of how she takes care of others. Kaliona always would say that "if you lack love for yourself then you can not love anyone else." She has stuck by this and it has lead her well.

It was morning now or barely becoming it. The sun was just beginning to stretch itself out over the horizon laying out its palette once more before it began to paint a different scenery. The Sun God is sure to not repeat his masterpieces. It hasn't for thousands of years. Everyday a different picture. Every moment a different color. As the sun tended to the colors that it would paint with today, Law laid on his bed staring up at the ceiling. Just have awoken not too long ago, perhaps about 10 minutes he would say. He wasn't quite sure given the fact that he hadn't looked at the clock. Come to think of it he hadn't even moved an inch. The entirety of his body ached, he assumed it was just old age. The thought made him chuckle. He stared at the ceiling for possibly five more minutes before the commotion up deck irritated him enough to sit up in his bed. Sunlight dripped in from the submarine window onto the floor. The Sun God had began to paint and he was sure to show Law a few of his tricks with the mixtures of his colors. The man, once resting and now sitting up, stared to the floor a brief moment before pacing both feet flat and firm then standing with one swift movement.
He tried playing over scenarios in his head of why they were being so loud so early, his crew of course. He honestly couldn't put his finger on it because they are unpredictable. This caused him to release a soft chuckle that vibrated his chest cavity. It obviously wasn't the kind of loudness that would be alarming but more of annoying. With a little bit of mental Force, the man slowly dresses himself then exits the room. Black shoes click on the middle floor but it was all silent to Law. The Tall Man was too focused on adjusting his watch which resulted in him sighing.
It didn't take him long of course to get to the top of the submarine which is where he determined the source of all the noise was coming from. He was correct. Upon exiting the submarine to the deck, Law was hit by the smell of salty sea air accompanied by soft breeze that brush through black strands of hair. The people on the deck were nearly all of his crew. Needless to say he was absolutely dumbfounded it wasn't until Bepo noticed and approached his captain. He assured Law that he hoped he rested well but he had some strange news and hoped for him not to get upset. In the midst of him talking for some reason Laws hearing went out again, he could only hear bits and pieces of what was coming out of the polar bear's mouth. He wasn't trying to ignore the poor thing but he couldn't believe it. It wasn't even the fact that he couldn't believe it, it's just he didn't understand. He couldn't comprehend. His eyes widen slowly as his gaze travels from the bear to the bank where the camp that was just there that night before was now gone. All that was left was maybe bits of litter and imprints into the Earth of what used to be there.
"What do you mean they are gone?" The Heartbreak and his voice became very apparent. The man didn't even attempt to hide it. He didn't care. He wanted answers.
