Hiccup...?

Astrid's POV

I and the gang went in the direction Hiccup went, ignoring the questioning stares of the village. We walked for ages, finally arriving in a lovely little cove, with a small cave, a big tree and pond in the middle, swarming with fish.

I looked towards the sea, seeing multiple mini sea-stacks. On one of them, there was a small apple tree, with a black lump beside.

I and the gang tried climbing up the side of the stack, before walking around it and finding a small wooden ladder, we come up and see Hiccup drawing in a notebook.

The notebook was obviously old, with the corners fraying on the finely stitched leather. He was a couple of pages away from the end, but he had another 3 books next to him. Not noticing us, he took the book on the top of the pile and opened it, before peeling pages up making a hidden map appear.

What have us away was Fishleg's gasp with delight and surprise. Everyone turned to look at his excited chubby face and rolled our eyes.

"Are you spying on me?"

"Well... uhh...No?"

Hiccup rolled his eyes, obviously not believing our lies.

Then, from out of nowhere, the rest of the village put their heads out of their hiding places.

They were everywhere. Under the stack, gripping the rocks, in bushes and crouching in the trees. There were even some more daring villagers who hid in a bush behind the gang. That bush contained a surprised and breathless Stoick.

He was staring intently at Hiccup, and everyone looked at him. He looked confused, before looking down and seeing he didn't have his helmet on. His cover was blown.

His face went white, and he jumped off the sea-stack, opening some fake leather wings and rushing away, aimed for the forge.

Soon, the entire village was after him, trying to keep up with his shooting figure, them on their stubby legs. Some regretted eating that extra leg of chicken the night before as the fitter Vikings zoomed past them.

We found Hiccup in the forge, rummaging through papers. He grabbed some and rushed off again. Stoick, with some unstoppable force, managed to catch the speeding figure.

"WHAT?"

Hiccup shouted, turning around as the giant hand grabbed his shoulder.

"Son... you came back..."

"Not willingly. I hate it here."

"Why?"

"Is it not obvious? It's the whole reason why I left!"

The village just looked blankly at him.

Suddenly, Toothless finally arrived and stood next to Hiccup, his tail curled around him protectively Toothless had all of Hiccups notebooks hanging out of his mouth making him look funny.

"Well, first of all, I was bullied and unrespected for 15 years! Every day, pushed around and called a loser. Everyone thought I was useless. I was useless. And then, I kept getting hurt by my father and family. My cousin hated me purely and multiple times ended with me going home so beaten up I could barely move. Then, sometimes my father came home drunk and told me to do things, and if I was unsuccessful he would hit me. My whole life was upside down. Then, I was kidnapped by the Romans' for a week and tortured, and nobody noticed. Not even when I stole medication. So I realised I could look after myself. Then when I was blamed for siding with the Dragon hunters, it was the last straw. I left."

The whole village listened to his speech with disbelief, realising that they had completely forgotten why he left, and just focused on the actual fact that he did. It was their fault.
They had forgotten about him.

"Son..., we're all sorry. Come home. Nobody will do that to you anymore. "

Hiccup's eyes looked watery, and he hid his face in Toothless. His black dragon crooned sadly and nudged him. Hiccup looked up, smiled and patted his head.

"Fine. But no questioning me, and you can't tell me what to do."

"Ok!"

"I'll be back in an hour or so. I'm going on a flight."

Before they could answer, he flew off, leaving everyone marvelling the way he and his best friend flew together, always as one.
