*Chapter Thirty Three*

Inside the mansion, everyone partied and conversed with one another. All are dressed to the nines. While to most, this is simply another gathering for those who live in Mystic Falls, there is one group that has alternative plans for such an evening.

Enzo and his beloved mate, Alvina, weave through the crowd of ignorant humans. While their third part is in another part of the home, their enhanced hearing can pick up on the sound of his voice.

"I thought this room could work," Jeremy says leading Bonnie towards the designated area where they would complete their plan.

"It's perfect," The Bennett witch compliments while sitting to take out her families grimoire. Jeremy eyes it curiously. While he's seen Alvina do spurts of magic, Bonnie is different. While witches and fairies are similar in more ways than one, they are not exactly the same.

"Is that the spell book I read about in my family's old journal?" Jeremy wonders glancing towards her.

"It's my ancestor, Emily's" Bonnie explains to him with a slight purse of the lips. "The spell I'm doing here is similar to the one that sealed the vampires into the tomb," She says flipping through the book. Her eyes scan the pages, reading much faster than Jeremy could comprehend.

"Can you do all the stuff that's in there?" He asks, his eyes flickering from the moving pages to her concentrated expression.

"I mean, it takes practice" She shrugs not looking up to meet his gaze. "I've worked on some small spells. Spells that only do good," She specifically stress. "I don't know too much. I don't particularly enjoy any of this, in case you haven't noticed" She tells him her voice dropping slightly.

"Yeah, but you're 100% witch, that is so cool" He grins giddily. Of course, he's fascinated with magic, he has been ever since Alvina introduced him into this world.

"It's anything but cool," Bonnie argues. "Did you family journals tell you what happened to Emily? Or what about my Grams? It never ends well for people like me" Bonnie snips.

"If you feel that way, why help?" Jeremy wonders.

"Because I don't want anyone else getting hurt and I don't know how to stay out of it," She tells him ending the conversation. She looks back down at her grimoire and begins preparing.

Jeremy simply watched not knowing how he could help. However, as he watched he couldn't help but to think about how she viewed magic and her being a witch. It made him feel unsettled seeing as his mate is so closely connected with nature and magic. Magic is apart of Alvina, she wouldn't be the same without it and Jeremy doesn't want her any other way.

"You know, you don't have to do this alone," Jeremy tells her. Bonnie spares him a questioning glance. "Being a witch, learning how to use your magic and all that stuff. You're not the only one in Mystic Falls that uses magic,"

Bonnie instantly knows who he's hinting at and couldn't help but to be hesitant. She doesn't know Alvina all that well, although she does look like a fun person to be around. There always seemed to be a ray of light radiating from her, a vast contrast compared to the vibe she got from the vampires in town.

"Alvina loves magic and nature, I'm sure if you asked she'd love to help you with whatever you need," Jeremy assures her with a gentle smile. Bonnie finds the corners of her lips raising at the thought of talking and learning from someone who could understand.

"Maybe," Bonnie whispers although she was almost certain she wanted to talk to and get to know Alvina. She simply needed to gain the confidence to approach her. Pushing away the slight feeling of anxiety at the thought of approaching the fairy, she return to her preparations.

"Are you almost done?" Jeremy asks as politely as he can. He didn't want to rush Bonnie yet he felt anxious being away from Enzo and Alvina for so long. Normally he could bury the anxiety but with tonight's events, he would rather be with them than separated.

"Yes," Bonnie mutters barely sparing him a glance. A couple moments later and they were packing their things to return to the dance. "We need to let Stefan and Damon know the rooms ready," Bonnie tells him. He frowns slightly and silently hopes that Enzo and Alvina are near the Salvatore's. "Do you feel that?" Bonnie asks coming to a stop, her eyes looking around for the source that gives her such a strange feeling.

"What's the matter?" Jeremy asks not picking up on anything out of the ordinary. "Are you cold?"

"No," Bonnie mutters walking away. Curiously, Jeremy follows after her. "Excuse me, do i know you?" She asks the woman.

"No, I'm a plus one, I know no one, but it's a great party though," The girl smiles kindly before disappearing.

"Are you okay?" Jeremy asks not understanding what had gained her attention.

"I just got a weird vibe, let's find Damon," Bonnie assures him. Jeremy shrugs following after her. Only after taking a couple more steps towards the party did they stop again.

"Jeremy," Alvina calls out. Her heels click against the floor as she walks ahead of Enzo to reach him. Jeremy's shoulders lose the slight tension he hadn't realized they were holding as his lips curve upwards. Despite having seen her only a few moments ago, he still finds himself awestruck by her beauty. He always thought Alvina to be the most beautiful girl in Mystic Falls but wearing the dress that's hugging her body, along with her accessories and heels, amplified the beauty Jeremy always sees.

"Everything set up?" Enzo asks quickly catching up with his fairy. Jeremy glances at him. His eyes only stay on Enzo's face for a moment before slowly racking down his body. Enzo isn't oblivious to Jeremy's obvious wandering gaze. When the teenagers eyes return to Enzo's, he realizes what he had done and the fact that he had been caught as Enzo smirks and sends a wink his way. Jeremy's face flushes and his eyes instantly downcast to the floor.

"Yeah, we were just about to go let Damon and Stefan know it's ready. Do you know where they are?" Bonnie asks, her voice cutting through the tension that lingers around the three mates.

"Stefan's entertaining Katherine at the moment, Damon is somewhere around here," Alvina told her. "Come, we need to wait until everything is else is in place," Alvina holds her hand out towards Jeremy, who doesn't hesitate to grab it. She pulls him along keeping him close. Enzo smiles and gives Bonnie a slight nod before motioning for her to walk with them. Bonnie gives him a tight lipped smile and walks next to him.

"You should talk to her," Enzo mutters to Bonnie as Alvina and Jeremy chat merrily in front of them. Bonnie glances up at him. "There's no one that understands magic and is as close to nature as fairies," Enzo tells her. Bonnie's eyes widen when she realizes he, and possibly Alvina, had heard her conversation with Jeremy. Enzo nods encouragingly knowing if Bonnie went to Alvina for help, his fairy would be elated.

"So, Bonnie," Jeremy says turning towards the Bennett Witch as the four of them wait together for a signal from the Salvatore's. "Can you do like a hocus pocus to ace a test?" Jeremy asks causing the dark toned girl to smile slightly.

"I don't know that spell," Bonnie shakes her head. Despite one of the four of them being a vampire, Bonnie felt more at ease and welcome than she had been all night.

"Pity," Alvina smiles. "I once knew a witch in... Birmingham, Alabama. She knew all of those small yet extremely useful spells like the ones to help on a test," Alvina tells Bonnie, a fond smile on her face as she remembers her time in Alabama during the late 1990's.

Sparing a glance towards Jeremy and then Enzo, Bonnie looks back to Alvina. Smiling, Bonnie musters up a moment of courage and asks Alvina, "Do you know the spells she used?"

"I do," Alvina nods. "Belle was her name, she was a very dear friend of mine and taught me a lot about you witches who draw power from the ancestors."

"Maybe you could show me a thing or two," Bonnie suggested with a casual shrug. Alvina grins nodding quickly.

"I'd love to," She tells her. Jeremy grins at his mate noticing that she was practically hopping in her heels. Tearing his gaze from her, he looks down at his phone.

'Now' - Damon

"I have to go," Jeremy mutters. Alvina's eyes instantly turn towards him.

"Be careful," Alvina whispers not liking the fact that he was willing going up to Katherine. If Alvina had her way, she'd approach the two timing bitch and sink her teeth in her flesh. However, Damon being Damon, wanted to do things his way.

"I'll be fine," Jeremy promises pecking her lips lightly. He glances at Enzo before walking away.

"I'm going to go keep a close eye on him," Enzo mutters pressing his lips to her temple before following after Jeremy. Alvina wanted to go as well but restrained hoping that once Jeremy is done with Katherine, the two will have a moment to themselves. However, she couldn't simply stand there and wait.

"So, Bonnie Bennett," Alvina smirks turning towards her. "Is the witch prepared to learn from Tinker Bell?" Bonnie slowly grins and lets out a small laugh as her mind reels back to the memory of the extremely awkward dinner party where they had first met.

"How about we start this week?" Bonnie asks not wanting to advert her focus from the task at hand. Alvina pouts slightly but nods not pushing her.

"Come on," Alvina nods for her to follow. "I'm not too keen on leaving my boys unsupervised for so long," Bonnie smiles slightly at Alvina's determination to stick with her mates. While she was slightly surprised by the fact that Jeremy, a boy she's known her whole life, has two supernatural mates, she didn't think it to be anymore unnatural than the supernatural themselves. She remembers her Grams explaining soulmates, the soul-mark, how they should be protected and cherished at all costs. Briefly, her eyes flicker down to the inside of her right wrist where her own soul-mark is imprinted into her skin underneath the small wristband. The mark had appeared once she had tapped into her magic, it startled her at first but now it gives her hope. "Oh look, Elena," Alvina mutters upon seeing Jeremy's sister.

"She's not supposed to be here," Bonnie mutters. Alvina simply hums leading the witch towards them.

"You guys are trying to kill her here?" Elena asks.

"What better place is there?" Alvina hums with a small smirk. "Is it the danger of Katherine foiling our plan that is the source of out adrenaline or is it the fact that we just might expose the supernatural world to all these mortals in the ball room?" Everyone seemed amused by her statement except, of course, Elena.

"Do you even understand how dangerous Katherine is?" Elena snapped glaring at the fairy. "And you just allowed my brother to be alone with her? Do you know what-" Before Elena could finish Alvina had her hand wrapped snugly around her throat. Her nostrils flare and her eyes narrow.

"Don't you dare, for one second, think I would put my mate in any harm" Alvina growled slowly tightening her grip. "I would die before anything hurt him, would you do the same?" She growls out doubtfully.

"Vina, please let her go," Jeremy says coming up to her side quickly. The fairy ignores him at first until he gently turns her head towards him. "Let her go, for me," Alvina relents and releases the teenage girl. Elena falls to the ground, only Bonnie caring enough to kneel beside her in order to make sure she's alright.

"I won't let anyone, let alone Katherine, hurt you" Alvina tells him.

"I know that, I know" Jeremy nods kissing her forehead lightly. "She's just scared, I know you'll protect me," He pulls her close by her waist. Alvina nuzzles her head into his neck, slightly irritated by her mask but making no move to take it off.

"You're lucky Alvina got to you before I did," Enzo tells Jeremy's sister. "Had I gotten to you, we would be planning a funeral right now" Elena looks up at him nervously. "He may be your brother but he's our mate and no one will protect him as fiercely as we will, even if it's from you"

"Enzo," Jeremy says lightly. Enzo gives Elena one last look before turning towards his mates and standing by their side. He kisses Alvina's hair while grazing his hand along Jeremy's arm.

"I won't apologize," Enzo tells him not feeling an ounce of regret for what he had said. However, Jeremy wasn't angry nor annoyed, he simply wanted to prevent things from getting out of hand.

Elena suddenly cries out regaining the attentions of the three mates. The lavish scent of her blood reaches Enzo's nose. Instead of lashing out, seeing as he had far more control over his blood lust, he gazes at her curiously as he wonder where she could have possibly gotten these new wounds.

"Wasn't me," Alvina mumbles causing Enzo to grin. He pulls her into his side as Jeremy quickly kneels beside his sister.

"What's going on?" Jeremy asks quickly.

"Jeremy, it's Katherine," Bonnie realized. "She's liked to Katherine, get them to stop! Now!" Bonnie orders. Jeremy races off without a second thought.

"Go with him but don't go into that room," Alvina says. Enzo looks at her for a moment before nodding. He runs off after his human. "Look at that, the marvelous Elena isn't invincible after all," Alvina whispers with a small smirk. She crouches down beside her not wanting to sit on the ground and dirty her dress.

"Bonnie, it hurts," Elena cried.

"I can't break the spell, Elena" Bonnie says glancing at Alvina, who shakes her head. "I'm sorry but I can try to take some pain away. Ok?" Bonnie whispers taking her friends hand in hers. Alvina watches the witch whisper a small spell to alleviate some of the pain.

"Are you ok?" Jeremy asks having returned as quickly as he could.

"Are they?" Elena asks worriedly. Alvina rolls her eyes knowing that neither of the Salvatore's in the room are truly her concern.

"They're stuck in there with her," Jeremy informs her. "You were right; Katherine had a witch link Elena to her"

"The girl I saw, the one inside" Bonnie realizes. Alvina frowns her eyebrows and shares a curious look with Enzo. He merely shrugs his shoulders. "Stay with her, keep pressure on her shoulder!"

"Where are you going?" Jeremy hollered after her.

"There another witch here, I'm going to find her!" Bonnie responds before disappearing in the crowd. Jeremy sighs and takes a seat beside Elena. He looks towards his sister before slowly taking off his ring causing both his mates to tense.

"No," Elena instantly deny.

"Take it," He insists.

"No, Jeremy..." Elena denies weakly.

"Elena listen to me; you need this more than I do," Jeremy argued.

"No, Jeremy. What I need is for you to be safe," Elena tells him sternly.

"Jeremy, please put the ring back on," Alvina says struggling to keep her voice from sounding too demanding. Relenting, Jeremy puts it back on his finger. "Well, since off of this drama is over for the moment, would you two care to escort me back to the ball?" Alvina smiles not wanting to spend more time with Elena than absolutely necessary.

Enzo instantly offers his arm, which Alvina accepted. Jeremy looks at his sister hesitantly. However, Elena encouraged him to go with them feeling slightly guilty for her words towards Alvina earlier. She knew Alvina, and even Enzo, would protect Jeremy, she just hated the fact that he was so involved in all of this.

Taking her other arm, Jeremy joined them. They reentered the Lockwood mansion. The crowd had yet to disperse seeing as the night is still indeed young.

"I believe I promised you a dance," Enzo smiles towards Alvina.

"Indeed you did," Alvina nods grinning back.

"I'll grab us some drinks," Jeremy says slipping away from them. Enzo releases her arm to grab her hand. The pair entered the ballroom. He rose their hands and twirled her into his arms.

"You don't have any insufferable family members I need to know about, do you?" Enzo asks. Alvina grins and laughs a bit.

"Only Damon, although I'm sure you know him very well," Enzo merely grunts causing her to grin even wider. "I know Elena can be vexing but we have to put up with her for Jeremy,"

"Only for about a century," Enzo shrugs. "Has Jeremy mentioned anything about wanting to be a vampire?"

"A few times," Alvina nods. "I think I've convinced him to wait until he's older,"

"Good," Enzo mutters. "I don't wish to part from him anytime soon,"

"You won't," She shakes her head. "He's coming around more and more every day," Enzo smirks at the thought of Jeremy slowly accepting him.
