*Chapter Thirty Six* [The Sacrifice]

*1. I just want to say a big thanks for everyone's support of this book and to me. I love you all, and it's much appreciated. 2. Last chapter, even though I didn't specify in the title, took place during the episode 'Katerina'; this chapter takes place in 'The Sacrifice'; love you all!*

"So, some dude named Klaus wants to kill Elena to break this thing called 'The Sun and Moon Curse': to do so, you need the moonstone, which is conveniently with Katherine in the tomb, that vampires can't enter. You also need a vampire, which this town isn't in shortage of, and a werewolf, which just so happens to be that Lockwood kid." Alvina summarizes standing in the kitchen with her mates, the Salvatore's, and Elena.

"And the only way to get the moonstone is to drop the spell on the tomb, which releases Katherine," Enzo continues.

"Well, it's not the only way," Alvina shrugs, looking at those around her. "We know the spell prevents vampires from entering -"

"No," three simultaneous voices speak, not allowing Alvina to continue. Jeremy's hand instantly grabs hers as if he needed contact reassurance that she wasn't about to leave. Damon glares at her from across the kitchen island while Enzo takes a small step in an attempt to block her closest exit. Alvina rolls her eyes but closes her mouth.

"So, Katherine wants to make a deal. We drop the spell, we get the moonstone, she leaves Mystic Falls," Enzo redirects the conversation from Alvina's idea.

"You don't believe her, do you?" Elena questions.

"No, of course not," Damon instantly denies. "We just want the moonstone."

"According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the spell that Klaus wants to break," Stefan explains.

"No spell, no doppelganger sacrifice. Ergo, you live," Damon states simply.

"How do you guys even know this is gonna work?" Elena wonders.

"Cause we have a crafty witch on our side," Damon smirks. "And our trusty fairy," Damon quickly adds, sending his best friend a wink. Alvina rolls her eyes but grins back at him with a dramatic hair flip right into Jeremy's face. The teenager flinches, and his face screws as the ends of her hair tickle his nose. Alvina giggles, kissing his cheek, bringing a lovesick grin onto Jeremy's lips.

"You discussed it with Bonnie," Elena states eyeing her brother and his girlfriend. Even Elena had to admit the little interaction was cute.

"She agreed to do anything she could to help us," Stefan reassures her.

"It's Katherine who has the moonstone; she's not gonna give it to you," Elena unnecessarily reminds them.

"Bonnie just needs to find a way to release the seal long enough for us to get in, get the moonstone, and get out in time for her to return it," Stefan says simply.

"Wow... I mean, it sounds like you guys already have it all planned out," Elena comments.

"Yep, we're awesome," Damon boasts.

"Except for one thing," Elena interjects. "I don't want you to do it," Jeremy instantly tenses. Alvina releases his hand in favor to wrap her arm around his waist. Enzo's eyes flicker towards him.

"What are you talking about? Elena, we don't have a choice," Stefan tells her.

"What about Klaus?" Elena asks, raising her eyebrows.

"We'll find him right after we get the moonstone," Stefan plans.

"Is that before or after he kills everyone that I care about, including the three of you," Elena says, looking at her brother and the Salvatore's.

"Ouch," Alvina pouts playfully.

"Did you mean to say that with no offense?" Enzo asks, tilting his head. "Because I felt a little offense to that," Enzo smirks, causing Elena to roll her eyes.

"Don't worry, baby, I've got your back," Alvina assures, winking at him. Enzo smirks seductively towards her.

"Elena, if we can de-spell the moonstone, we can save your life," Stefan stresses.

"I know, everybody keeps saying that," Elena says, leaving the kitchen. Alvina growls.

"That ungrateful little-" Alvina growls, but Jeremy shushes her as he pulls her to his chest. Alvina continues to grumble but hugs Jeremy tightly.

"We need to get going," Jeremy mutters, noticing that school was close to starting. Alvina sighs as she steps away from Jeremy.

"Have fun at school kids, I'll pick you up afterward," Enzo winks at them.

"Yes, sir," Alvina whispers, leaning into his chest. Enzo growls, pressing their lips together.

"Minx," Enzo whispers. Alvina shrugs, not denying it. She sends him another wink before walking around him. Jeremy walks up to him slightly more timid but kisses him as well. Enzo cups the side of Jeremy's jaw, leaning into the kiss. "I'll see you later, Romeo,"

"Bye," Jeremy smiles, staying close to him for a few more seconds before walking after Alvina.

"Who's that hanging out with Bonnie?" Alvina asks, walking with Jeremy through the schoolyard. Jeremy follows her gaze seeing a guy stalking and smiling with their friend.

"I don't know," Jeremy shrugs, pulling his girlfriend towards Bonnie when she walks away from the new guy.

"Hey, you," Alvina grins as they stop in front of Bonnie. "What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing," Bonnie smiles. Alvina continues to give her a look.

"Who's the new guy?" Jeremy voices Alvina's silent question.

"Oh, him?" Bonnie turns to look towards her new friend but frowns when she can't see him. "Um, he's new,"

"Obviously," Jeremy smiles, laughing a bit. "What's his name?"

"Luka," Bonnie answers, turning back to him and Alvina. "He's a witch," She further explains. "He's been showing me a thing or two,"

"Oh, really?" Alvina asks, her voice rising a pitch. She clears her throat and continues to smile broadly. "That's very... nice of him,"

"Yeah, he seems to know what he's talking about," Bonnie grins, nodding before her cell phone goes off. "It's Damon," She states, causing Alvina to roll her eyes.

"Why did we come to school if dick-for-brains was just gonna call us back?" Alvina grumbles, rolling her eyes. "I swear that pencil dick leech knows just which buttons to push," Jeremy's eyes widen slightly at Alvina's grumpy grumble. He lurches forward as Alvina drags him towards Bonnie's car.

"You alright?" Jeremy asks her quietly. Alvina just hums, wrapping an arm around his waist. He kisses the top of her head, his arm going around her shoulder. "I love you," He whispers to her. She beams towards him.

"I love you, too," She whispers back, pecking his lips. Bonnie follows after them quickly and climbs into her car, driving the three of them towards the boarding house. When she parks the car, Enzo appears at the side to open the doors for his mates. "Danielle Marie Salvatore!" Alvina shouts, stepping out of Bonnie's car. "Hi, baby," Alvina smiles, kissing his cheek before marching towards the door. "When I get my hands on you..."

"Here you go," Damon smiles, handing over a warm mug. "A cup of tea for the best fairy I know," Alvina eyes him wearily as she takes the tea mug.

"1. I'm the only fairy you know-"

"I know fairies," Damon says defensively. "You're just the only one who hasn't tried to kill me... permanently," He adds quietly. Alvina smirks, bringing the mug up to her mouth; she takes in a breath smelling it.

"2. Is this Necture?" She asks, smelling something mixed with the tea. He continues to smirk before adding an eyebrow wiggle. "One of these days, you're going to run out of Necture, and I'm going to be pissed, and you're going to be in pain," Alvina warns.

"And when that day, comes I will disappear like Katherine," Damon tells her. Alvina snorts.

"You're not that smart," Alvina laughs, walking around him. Damon frowns his eyebrows, obviously offended.

"She's got you there, mate," Enzo smirks, clapping him on the shoulder. Damon rolls his eyes, going into the parlor where they tell Bonnie of their plan.

"I might be able to lower the tomb spell long enough for you to get in there and grab the moonstone from Katherine," Bonnie says.

"How? It took both you and your Grams last time, and look what happened to you," Jeremy brings up.

"I'm well aware of what happened. I've learned a few new things," Bonnie tells him. Jeremy frowns while Alvina eyes her wondering what she's been doing with the Luka dude. "How will you get it?" She asks Stefan.

"She hasn't been feeding. She's weaker. We're not,"

"You wouldn't be underestimating her, would you?" Bonnie asks, arching her eyebrows.

"It's a plan. Is it perfect?" Damon scoffs. "What plan is?" Alvina nods in agreement.

"Let me do it," Jeremy speaks up, instantly gaining his mates attention. "I've got my ring. I can get in, get out, no spells necessary,"

"Absolutely not," Alvina speaks up instantly. "I have a better chance of going against her than you do,"

"Neither of you are going," Enzo growls. He knew Alvina could handle herself, but the last thing he wanted was for her to go into the tomb only to realize that the spell extends to fairies as well.

"Maybe I can help better the plan," Bonnie quickly interjects before they could get into an argument. "Do you have anything that belongs to Katherine?" The Salvatore's share a look before Stefan leaves the room.

Damon and Bonnie stand awkwardly beside each other as the tension between the three mates thickens. Alvina falls back onto the couch crossing her legs with a bitchy smirk on her lips. Enzo rolls his eyes but smirks at her attitude while Jeremy stands by, himself lost in his thoughts.

"This belonged to Katherine," Stefan's voice breaks through the tension. "Found it with her things after I thought she was dead, but it was hers," He explains, handing Bonnie a portrait of Katherine. Alvina watches Bonnie as she puts the picture in a bowl, dipping her fingers in the water. The water drops off of her fingers and into the bowl producing flames.

"What will this do?" Damon asks after Bonnie chants the spell.

"I can turn the metal into ash. Blow the ashes on her, and it'll incapacitate her for a minute or two. Long enough for you to get the stone and get out." Bonnie explains to him before turning away. Alvina keeps her eyes on the witch, sensing the blood dripping from Bonnie's nose but not speaking out on it.

Stefan and Damon leave the room to grab supplies. Alvina stands from the couch and moves over to Bonnie. The Bennett witch avoids looking at her as she continues to focus on the spell.

"You sure you can do this, Bon?" Alvina asks quietly.

"I'll be fine," Bonnie states sternly. Alvina simply hums, eyeing her.

"Remember that bit I told you about building your strength? Not jumping to the powerful shit?" Alvina asks.

"What do you want me to do?" Bonnie asks, looking at her. "Elena could die. I'll be fine, I promise," Bonnie reassures.

"Bonnie, your life is not worth less than hers. Hurting yourself like this, pushing yourself too hard-"

"Is what I have to do to keep everyone safe," Bonnie cuts her off.

"That's a lot of pressure for one person," Alvina tells her. "You don't have to take on all that responsibility on your own. If we're going to... save, Elena then we need to work as a team,"

"We are a team. This is me doing my part," Bonnie insists stubbornly. Alvina sighs, slowly nodding.

"Alright," Alvina gives in. "Let me know if there's something I can help with," Bonnie's shoulder's relaxed as her eyes meet Alvina's again.

"I will," Bonnie assures, smiling at Alvina.

"Why don't you go get something to put this in?" Jeremy suggests. Bonnie nods, going to go get a vial. Jeremy picks up the bowl to go follow her put Alvina grabs his arm tightly. "I'm just going with Bonnie," Jeremy says, and Alvina growls lowly.

"Don't do anything stupid," Alvina says, knowing he wasn't telling the complete truth. She tried to find the truth in his thoughts, but he was hiding it from her.

"I'm just going with Bonnie," Jeremy repeats, trying to sound more convincing. He leans towards Alvina and gives her a soft kiss. "I love you," He whispers.

"I love you, too," She whispers back to him. Her hand uncoils from around his arm. He sends her another smile before following after Bonnie.

"Do you trust him?" Enzo asks, coming up beside her.

"Yes," Alvina nods. "But not today," She adds, sharing a look with him. Enzo sighs, kissing her forehead before following after Jeremy.
