*Chapter Four* {Night of the Comet}

"Hey, Tyler. Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt" Alvina watches from a distance as Jeremy marches up to Tyler Lockwood. The boy was supposedly Vicki's boyfriend. "I was just wondering how Vicki's doing since you guys are so close. Is she ok?" He asked.

"She's fine, now get out of here" Tyler shooed.

"How bad is she?" Jeremy pressed. "Do you know what attacked her?" He continues to pester the Mayor's son. Alvina smiles slightly.

She liked how Jeremy was so protective and loyal, however, she felt jealous that he's spending so much time being protective and loyal to Vicki Donovan. She wished Jeremy was supernatural, that way he would know about the soul-mark and this would all move a lot faster.

"I'm gonna kick your ass" Tyler threatens. Alvina tilts her head slightly.

"Yeah, you keep saying that, but when are you actually going to do it?" Jeremy challenges. "Huh? 'Cause I vote for right here and right now" He snapped shoving Tyler. Alvina slowly inches closer.

"Walk away, Gilbert" Tyler snapped. "It's your final warning."

"No, this is your final warning, dick. I'm sick of watching you play Vicki. If you hurt her one more time, I swear to God, I will kill you" Jeremy threatened before storming off. Alvina smirks and walks after him, though she feels as if she has to jog to catch up to him.

"Jeremy!... Jeremy!" Finally, he notices her trying to catch up to him. He grins to himself as he comes to a stop and turns towards her. She smiles at him and stops beside him. "How are you holding up?" She asks knowing that Vicki being attacked shook him up.

"I'm fine" He shrugs. "Just wish Tyler would stop being a dick head" She grins and shrugs.

"Some people don't change," She told him. "What're you doing after school?" She asked as they walked down the hall. He shrugs. "I don't know if you remember or not but you owe me a tour of the woods" She grins at him. He laughs and nods.

"How could I forget?" He grins at her. She smiles back. "Meet you out front after school?"

"Sounds good to me" She nods. She then leans up and kisses his cheek. "I can't wait" She winks at him before wondering to her next class.

Eventually, not nearly soon enough, the final bell rings. She practically darts out of class to meet up with Jeremy. She pouts slightly when she doesn't see him but soon realizes that she simply got there before him. She only waited a few minutes before he joins her.

"Ready?" She asked reaching for his hand. He doesn't hesitate to give it to her, a smile coming onto his face as their fingers interlock and the warm feeling spreads through him. They walk together through the parking lot and into the woods.

"If I remember correctly, you really like the woods. You have some kind of connection with... nature?" He asked hoping he was remembering correctly. She grins and nods.

"You have an excellent memory Mr. Gilbert" She praises. He shrugs cockily. She giggles and leans into him as they walk. He bends his head down and kisses her hairline. He's confused by his actions but they felt natural to him.

He doesn't understand why he feels the way he does around her. He feels comfortable around her. As if he can trust her with his darkest secrets. He feels drawn to her. She suddenly plagues his every thought. He likes it, he doesn't understand it, but he likes it.

"Did you just move here?" Alvina nods to his question.

"I moved in with my cousin, Stefan," She tells him. "My mother died, so now I live with him and Zach."

"I'm sorry about your mom," Jeremy said. "Do you mind if I ask how?" Alvina's jaw clenches as she remembers.

"Mom?" Alvina whispers walking through the threshold of her home. The house is trashed. Pictures are knocked off the walls, tables and chairs are flipped over. She sees a blood trail on the floor. She slowly follows it to the kitchen.

"She was murdered," Alvina told him, her voice stone-cold, void of any emotion. She notices a nice spot for them to sit. She pulls him over to it. She sits on the grass and leans against the tree. He sits down beside her. He holds her hand giving her more comfort than he can understand.

Alvina gasps, tears instantly coming to her eyes. The kitchen is in worse condition than the rest of the house. Everything is completely obliterated. But she doesn't care for on the ground is her mother, her heart missing and her neck snapped.

"I found her in the kitchen. There was blood everywhere" She whispers looking down at her lap. She takes in a shaky breath. He sighs and pulls her closer to him. She curls into his side and he snakes his arm around her. He kisses the top of her head before resting his chin on it. "My father died when I was eleven. When she died they shipped me here. They're the only family I have left" She whispers. His grip around her tightens.

"My parents died a few months ago. They were driving across a bridge with Elena, my sister. They went over and into the water. They didn't make it" He mutters to her. She snuggles her head deeper into his chest and curls against him tighter.

"I'm sorry" She whispers to him. Jeremy didn't say anything. They sat there for a while, just together.

"I'm glad they shipped you here" Jeremy whispers. Alvina smiles instantly. She lifts her head forcing him to move his. She lays it on his shoulder, looking up at him while he looks down at her.

"Me too" She whispers. He smiles at her. He feels butterflies in his stomach yet at the same time, feels completely calm. He wants to kiss her, hell he wants everything that has to do with her.

"There's a festival in Town Square tomorrow for the comet, you gonna be there?" He asked. She grins.

"I don't know, are you?" She asks and he grins back. He shrugs not answering her. "Well, I guess I'll show up, see what a small-town festival is like," She tells him.

"They're pretty cool I guess" He shrugs grinning.

"Are you gonna be there or are you too cool for that scene?" She asks him teasingly.

"I guess I can make an appearance" He shrugs trying to stifle a smirk. She laughs softly and nuzzles her head into his neck. She takes in a deep breath, taking in his scent. He leans his head against hers.

"It's starting to get late" She whispers to him. They've been leaning against the tree for a long time. They talked the day away. Alvina put on some music to fill the silence between conversations. His grip tightens around her.

Their positions had switched through their time together. She lays more on his chest, their legs intertwined and both his arms wrapped around her.

He didn't like the idea of her leaving him. She didn't want to leave him but she knew how human families worked. She knew his guardian would be wondering where he is, maybe even worried about how long he's been gone.

"I don't have to go home... Not yet" Jeremy said. She smiles shifting her head so she can see him.

"Come on, it'll be dark soon and I don't fancy getting lost in the woods," She said reluctantly climbing out of his grip. She stands up and turns the music off. She holds her hand out for him. He grins and takes it but pulls her onto the soft grass.

She giggles as he pins her to the ground, hovering over her. His hands grab her wrists and hold them above her head. She smiles from ear to eat as he gives her a lopsided, boyish grin.

"I don't want to go... Not yet." He whispers to her. Her smiles turn softer. She felt extremely pleased that he didn't want to go, that he wanted to stay here with her.

In a flash, Alvina flips them so his back is on the grass and she's straddling his waist. His eyes widen at her strength. She smirks and gives him a wink.

"I'm full of surprises" She warns him truthfully yet playfully.

"I see that," He tells her. She laughs as her hands take his wrists and raise them over his head. He fights against her but she doesn't bother hiding her strength.

"Alvina" She tilts her head slightly as Stefan's voice reaches her ears. From the sound of it, he's a couple of miles away. "Elena and his Aunt Jenna are wondering where Jeremy is at, they're getting nervous"

"We should get going." She said slowly climbing off of him. Jeremy frowned disappointed and feeling rejected. She helps him stand up but doesn't let go of his hand. "Hey, don't give me that look" She whispers and be over exaggerates a pout. She smiles and kisses his cheek, her lips lingering. "We don't have to wait until the festival to see each other" She mutters to him.

"When are you free?" He asks.

"All day," She tells him before giving him a wink. He grins. "Here," She said giving him her phone. "So I can text you whenever I want" She grins. He smiles back and puts his number in her phone.

"So, I'll see you tomorrow?" Jeremy asks as they reach the town. She nods.

"I can't wait," She tells him. He smirks and kisses her forehead. She blushes lightly. She waves to him and he waves back before they go their separate ways. Once he's completely out of sight, she goes back into the woods.

She spins three times and flies to the Boarding house. When she arrives she turns back to her human self and marches inside. There she finds Stefan and Damon, she completely ignores the older brother.

"I don't care if you've grown a liking to Elena. I'm happy for you, you deserve to be happy" Alvina said walking towards him. "I was having a good time with Jeremy, my soulmate" She growls.

"Wait, what?" Damon asked frowning his eyebrows. Alvina continues to ignore him.

"If I wasn't already thinking about sending him home to be with his family, I wouldn't have done it. So don't go thinking that you can control when I can or when I can't be with him." She sipped giving him a warning glare.

"Got it," Stefan said holding up his hands. Alvina smirks and nods before walking behind the bar, shoving Damon away from her. Stefan walks out and up to his bedroom.

"What is this, soulmate business?" Damon asks walking on the other side of the bar, leaning across from it.

"Wouldn't you like to know?... Dick" She mutters.

"Now, you said we were good," Damon said pointing at her. "I got you Necture for God's sake, you know how hard that shit is to get?"

Alvina sighs dramatically. She grabs the bourbon and pours herself a drink. She then grabs the Necture. She opens it and takes in a whiff. She moans at the sweet smell. She pours a few drops before putting it away.

She looks at Damon who's giving her an expectant look. She rolls her eyes and moves the band covering her marks. He looks at it.

"Jeremy Gilbert" Damon's eyes snap up to hers. "The little brother to Stefan's precious Elena" Alvina smirks and wiggles her eyebrows.

He smirks and shakes his head. He holds out his wrist. She frowns her eyebrows. They've been together for years and he's never shown her his mark. Though, she's never shown him hers either. Soul-marks are personal. You can never be too careful with who you show them too. If someone is smart, they can figure out who your soulmate is, hunt them down and kill them.

"E.G," Alvina mutters. Her eyes slowly look up at Damon. "You think it's Elena?" She asks. He shrugs and covers his mark.

"Don't know, don't care" He told her. "I've got Katherine" He smirks. Alvina rolls her eyes at her name.

"You can do better than Katherine," She said.

"How would you know? You've never met her" Damon pointed out.

"I don't need to know her to know she's a complete bitch." She told him. "I think you should take your chances with Elena"

"Nah, Stefan's all strung up over her and besides, I've spent over a century trying to find a way to get to Katherine. I'm not about to give that all up for some chick."

"It's not some chick, Damon, she could be your soulmate," Alvina told him. "The feeling of finding the one is... indescribable" She smiles at him.

"I have found the one and she's been stuck in a tomb for a very long time," Damon said before grabbing his drink and wondering off to his room. Alvina sighs and shakes her head at him.
