*Chapter Five*
"What is Damon doing here?" Zach asked Stefan as Alvina munched on some breakfast. "Why did he come home?"
"'Cause I came home. He wants to make my life miserable. That's how he enjoys his" Stefan informs him. Alvina smiles to herself as she watches the two of them while not so quietly eating her cereal.
"Well, he's putting us all at risk" Zach snipped while stealing a glance at Alvina. She smirks and sends him a wink. Zach didn't know her that well, just that she's some chick that ages slow and follows Damon around. Though Stefan warned him not to say that 'she follows Damon around' unless he wants to listen to a lecture on how Alvina is an 'independent woman who follows no man around'. "This girl in the hospital could talk," He said quickly looking away from the Fairy.
"She won't" Stefan assures him. "I took care of her"
"You're sure?" Zach asked doubtfully.
"I'm not sure, Zach. I don't know how well it worked. I'm not as strong as Damon" Stefan told him.
"Well, what about you?" Zach asked looking t Alvina. Alvina stops mid-chew.
"What about me?" She mumbles.
"Can't you do something?" Zach asked. "Make sure this girl doesn't talk"
"I mean technically yes" Alvina nods after swallowing what's in her mouth. He gives her an expectant look. "I'm not a baby sitter," She tells him. "I don't clean Damon's messes, I don't clean anybody's messes but my own, even then it's a good chance I'm not going to do anything." She shrugs. "You two are the ones who care so much, fix it yourself. I don't give a damn what happens to the Donovan girl"
"Then why are you here if you're not going to help us?" Zach snapped. Alvina shrugs innocently.
"At first it was just a new town, someplace to get my socializing for the year out of the way. I like my isolation but I could use a decent conversation that's not with the moronic older Salvatore every now and then. Now it's because I like someone in town and that's not Vicki Donovan."
"Aren't you worried that this madness could get worse? What if this person you like gets hurt?" Zach asked. Alvina laughs while standing up.
"Damon knows better than to piss me off and he knows that this person is severely off-limits, so does Stefan. Should anything happen to this person than whoever harmed him will know my wrath" Alvina smirks gleefully and wiggles her eyebrows at him. She winks at the human before going into the kitchen.
"Is she all there...?" Zach whispers to Stefan while motioning to his head. Stefan smirks and shrugs. Zach sighs and rubs his face stressfully. "So, what happens if it doesn't work?" He asks him.
"I don't know, I'll deal with it," Stefan told him.
"Is she worth it?" Zach asked. "Uncle Stefan, this girl you came back for?" Stefan doesn't answer him, he simply leaves.
"Ok, Daddio, I'm off to see the town!" Alvina smirks at Zach. She blows him a kiss before skipping out of the house closing the door behind her. Zach just shakes his head and continues with his day. "Oh, well look at what we have here?" A devious grin appears on Alvina's face.
She strolls up to Damon's precious 1969 Chevy Convertible. She walks around the car, her finger dragging against its body. She looks around not seeing nor hearing Damon anywhere near the house.
"Oh, he's going to hate me" She laughs merrily.
She hops over the door and into the driver's seat. The top is already down for her. She doesn't see his keys anywhere but that didn't matter. She places her finger over the ignition and with a little bit of magic, the engine roars to life. She giggles and claps before speeding down the road, the tires squealing as she zooms towards the road and then towards the town.
"YAAAHOOOO!!!" Alvina shouts shaking her head, her hair flying in the wind as she speeds over the limit. She drifts the curves and pushes the car to the limit. "YEEEHAAAWWW!!!" Alvina giggles as blares the music.
She drifts the next turn and smirks when she sees a very livid Damon Salvatore standing in the middle of the straight strip. She floors it giving him a devious smirk. Damon glares at her, his arms crossed. She doesn't slow down. At the last second, he's forced to move.
"Thanks for the ride, Dames!!!!" She shouts over her shoulder before driving the rest of the way to the town. She eventually slows down and parks it a free spot.
She hops out of the car and looks around. She sees Elena with her friends Bonnie and Caroline. She sees other kids from school but not the one she wants. She strains her ears searching for the sound of his voice.
"So you gonna, uh, watch the comet later?" She hears Jeremy's voice coming from the Grill. She starts her way towards him.
"I hadn't really thought about it. But I could be talked into it" Alvina clenches her jaw as she hears Vicki's flirtatious voice. "I'll meet you out there in a few."
"Over my dead body" Alvina growls before entering the Grill. Almost instantly, she has Jeremy's attention. All he has to do is give her his boyish smile and she's putty in his hands. She feels her body relaxing and her anger going on reserve as she smiles back at him.
He walks away from Vicki and Tyler without another word to either of them. He walks around the tables and right up to her. Their eyes never once leaving the other since they found each other.
"You look beautiful" Jeremy compliments. He bends down and kisses her cheek.
"Thank you" Alvina smiles before looking around him. She smirks challengingly at Vicki who glares back at her. Jeremy follows her gaze and notices Vicki as well.
"She's just a friend" Jeremy assures her.
"She knows that?" Alvina asked looking up at him tilting her head. He frowns knowing she's upset with him. He didn't like it, not in the slightest. Alvina forces a sigh and a smile. Jeremy can instantly tell the difference between this smile and a real one.
"I'll stay away from her" Jeremy said willing to do anything to make her happy.
"I don't want to be the type of girl that tells you who you can and cannot hang out with. I like you, Jeremy, I like you a lot" Alvina grabs his hand. "I don't share. If you want to be friends with her, fine, I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is her flirting with you."
"She wasn't flirting, that's just how she is," Jeremy said. Alvina smiles and Jeremy can see the anger in it.
"She likes you, Jeremy. She's the type of girl that not many people are nice too so when someone is, she falls for them. You're one of those rare people who are nice to her so she's falling for you. I love your kindness" Alvina said grabbing his shirt. "But you're mine, Jeremy Gilbert" She whispers possessively.
Jeremy didn't understand why but he felt extremely turned on by her possessiveness. He didn't know why she is possessive, they weren't together. Hell, he's only known her for a few days. It feels like it's been longer.
"I guess you're my girlfriend now" He smirks amused. Her fingers slowly move up and lock around his neck.
"I guess I am... Are you ok with that?" She asks him truthfully. He nods without hesitation.
"I'm good with it" She grins and hugs him tightly. He instantly hugs her back. He lifts her off the ground and spins her around. She giggles and clings to him. He sets her down and she grabs his hand. "Come on" She pulls him out of the Grill.
"Where are we going?" Jeremy asked with a small laugh.
"Does it matter?" She asked grinning at him. He comes to a stop. He pulls on her hand and she falls into his chest. She looks up at him.
"No" He whispers. "I'm happy when I'm with you... I haven't been happy for a long time." He tells her truthfully.
"Ditto" She whispers to him. He grins brushing his knuckles against her cheek.
"I don't care where we go, as long as I'm with you" She grins and blushes lightly. He kisses her cheek making the blush deepen. He smirks smugly. She rolls her eyes and pulls on his hand.
"Come on, you've shown me around the woods, how about a tour of the town" He nods intertwining their fingers. She grins up at him as they walk through the town and enter different stores.
As the day went on, the town square became more and more crowded. It's getting closer to the festival and Alvina had to admit, she was getting excited. Though she didn't know if her excitement was for the comet festival or the fact that she has more time with Jeremy, probably the latter.
"Want a candle?" Jeremy asked.
"Sure" Alvina grins nodding. Jeremy smiles and leads her towards the students who were handing them out. He grabs two, gets them lit and handed one to her. "This is pretty cool," She said looking at everyone gathered together with candles. She looks up at the stars and the comet flying through the sky.
"Yeah, I guess it is" He mutters his eyes solely on her. She feels his stare and looks over at him. "You're very beautiful" He whispers. She smiles turning towards him more.
They easily get lost in each other's eyes. He lowers his head, their foreheads connecting. She holds her candle with one hand, away from them. Her other hand wraps around the back of his neck.
"Why are you here?" He whispers. "With me?"
"You remember that connection I was telling you about? That connection I have with nature?" He nods slightly. "I feel it with you, only it's a lot stronger. I feel connected with-" Jeremy presses his lips on hers not allowing her to finish.
She uses her magic to extinguish their candles before deepening the kiss. She pulls him closer to her, his hands grip her hips strongly. She smiles into the kiss. She feels intoxicated as if this one kiss is some type of drug and she's completely hooked, addicted and needing more.
"Wow" Jeremy whispers pulling away from her. Alvina laughs breathlessly. She wanted to say something and almost did but Jeremy simply presses his lips back against hers, needing more. She moans quietly but he hears it and his grip on her tightens.
"Easy, tiger" She whispers forcing herself to pull away. "There are children here" He smiles at her.
"Then let's get out of here" He suggests. She almost agrees instantly... Almost. "What's wrong?" He asks instantly as her face falls.
She wanted this. She wanted this more than he could ever imagine. But she couldn't. She couldn't go all the way with him unless he knew about the bond. Going all the way would increase the bond, complete it. Things would change, instantly.
She couldn't take advantage of him, he needed to know everything that's going on. He deserves to know exactly who she is, he deserves the truth before they go any further.
"Am I going too quickly for you? I don't want to pressure you, I'm sorry, I-" Alvina smiles slightly. She kisses him lightly simply to shut him up. She grins as she feels his body relaxing against her.
"You have nothing to be sorry about" She whispers to him. "You're not going too quickly I just..." She sighs. "I've been keeping things from you."
"Well, we have only known each other a few days," He tells her with a shrug hoping to lighten the mood. She smiles at him slightly.
"These things are important. You deserve to know them if we're going to be together" She said. He nods as a sense of seriousness set in.
"Whatever you want to tell me, I'm all ears," He says. She smiles.
"It's a long story," She tells him. "I might scare you away, I'd be surprised if I didn't"
"The most beautiful girl in town, probably the world, wants to be with me," He tells her with a grin. "If you think I'm going to run away, you're mistaken"
"Never say never" She whispers stepping away from him.
"Hey" Jeremy whispers lifting her chin lightly. "Why don't you just tell me and we'll see where it goes from there" He suggests. She sighs and nods.
"Ok, but not here, come on," She says pulling him away from the crowd.
