*Chapter Fifty Four*
When Elijah's eyes opened he didn't recognize his surroundings. He sat up from the cushioned couch. His eyes instantly land on the half-fairy sitting across from him in a folding chair.
"How long has it been?" He questions.
"About a two hours," Alvina shrugs. "I'm not sure when Klaus daggered you but it hasn't been long."
Elijah stares at Alvina, his eyebrows arched. When his brother daggers one of the siblings, it isn't simply for a couple of hours.
"Let me lay out what's going to happen," Alvina states, leaning forward resting her elbows on her thighs. "Klaus, Enzo, Jeremy, Stefan and I are going to caravan across America and you're going to stay here with sweet Bonnie. You're going to leave us alone and we're going to leave you alone. You're also going to keep the fact that Elena is alive to yourself and enjoy your life with your mate without having to worry about your brother turning you into Princess Aurora. Capeesh?"
"And what of my other siblings?"
"They've been comatose for this long, what's a little longer?" Alvina grinned unsurely. Elijah's unamused. She huffs and runs her fingers through her hair. "Give me some time Elijah," Alvina pleads. "Things are tense right now, let things settle down. Let me get Klaus to trust me and maybe I can convince him to release the rest of your siblings. In the mean time stay in Mystic Falls with Bonnie. For the love of God stay out of our way."
Elijah's calculating eyes stare into Alvina's. The fairy doesn't blink nor look away. She hides her anxiety behind a façade of confidence. She knew if Elijah didn't agree to this then things were going to get more complicated. She was tired of complicated.
"Fine," Elijah concedes. Alvina's body almost falls out of the chair in relief. "But I won't wait forever," He warns.
"I don't need forever, just a decade or two," Alvina jokes, standing up. Elijah's tempted to roll his eyes. "Tell Bonnie I said hey," Elijah smiles, his demeanor finally relaxing.
"Good luck with my brother," Elijah says.
"I'm gonna need it," Alvina mumbles while leaving to join her mates and Stefan outside of Alaric's apartment building. Her eyes fall on Enzo. Her eyes silently asking him about Damon. He smiles and gives her a reassuring nod. Her body is filled with overwhelming relief once again.
She wanted to see him before they left but knew the longer they stayed in Mystic Falls the more of a chance Klaus had of finding Elena. All their hard work and planning would be ruined if that happened. Alvina put too many man hours into keeping the bitch alive and hidden only for it to unravel not even two days after the ritual.
"Now that we're all here, shall we?" Klaus smirks motioning toward the car.
"So, any idea where to start?" Alvina asks.
"One or two," Klaus smirks opening the passenger door for her, or either of the others, but the triad files into the back forcing Stefan to sit beside Klaus up front. The Salvatore sighs through his nose slowly wondering how he was going to survive with them.
Klaus starts up the car and drives them out of Mystic Falls. Jeremy, sitting in the middle, looks out Alvina's window and watches his hometown fly by. Even though his sister managed to survive he wondered if he'd see her again. He wondered if he'd see Jenna or sleep in his old room again. He mourned, not for the death of his sister but the death of his old life.
He figured he was being a little dramatic but he didn't care. He didn't know what the future held or how this soulmate bond would work with Klaus.
He worried about the fact that Klaus could find out about Elena being alive. He worried about falling for Klaus like he did for Alvina and Enzo. What kind of brother would he be for falling in love with his sister's 'killer'? But on the other hand, could he avoid it? It's not like the bond gave you much of a choice.
"You should try and get some sleep," Alvina muttered, linking her fingers with his. "I think we're going to be in here for a while." Jeremy debated fighting against the fatigue but gave in. He squeezes her hand before shifting to rest against Enzo. His boyfriend kisses the top of his head.
Klaus, from the drivers seat, glances back at his mate with a sense of longingness. He desired to hold Alvina's hand or kiss Jeremy's head or snuggle up to Enzo. He hoped that they'd reach that point soon, he doubted he could be patient for very long.
A couple of weeks later, the group was entering a hotel. They'd reached yet another dead end. While Klaus was frustrated it was also obvious that he was still determined. Despite being determined they agreed to stop at a hotel for a little bit of down time.
Stefan demanded a room to himself. Klaus wasn't worried about him running off and allowed him to take a private room.
The Salvatore was ready to explode.
With Jeremy, Enzo and Alvina's lovey dovey relationship and the fact that tensions were still high with Klaus the last few weeks have been borderline unbearable for him. To add to their problems were problems of his own. He missed Elena and, surprisingly, Damon. Then, on top of all that, was a flood of annoyance and frustration with Klaus for forcing him to revert back to his old ripper self while trying to press for a friendship.
To say he needed a day or two to himself was an understatement. He doubted he would leave the hotel room until they were ready to move onto the next town. He wasn't going to risk leaving and get caught up in more of their relationship drama. No, he was going to sleep and imagine that he's far away from the circus that is a few doors down.
Jeremy didn't necessarily like the idea of sharing a room with Klaus but he didn't dislike it either. They've been around each other for weeks without a break. While he's still learning about Klaus he's grown comfortable around him.
"I'm taking the shower and I'm taking it alone," Alvina states daring one of her mates to argue with her. Enzo merely smirks knowing the testosterone level was beginning to bug her. Within seconds Alvina had her things in her arms and practically barricaded herself in the bathroom.
Once the door is shut and locked, Alvina breathes in and out slowly. She loves her mates, and is beginning to like Klaus, but a girl needs some time to herself.
"Why couldn't one of them had been a girl?" Alvina mutters under her breath. She'd really like talking to a girl right now. She's not that big on girl talk but being around someone without a dick for a couple hours would be nice.
The last couple of weeks have been... interesting. Klaus has been a whirlwind of emotions. He's gone from flirty to murderous to pushy and friendly then pouty. He's like a child with a teenage girl's period. Next to dealing with Klaus's moodiness is Jeremy's slightly depressive phases.
Out of the three of them, Jeremy was struggling the most with Klaus. There was an internal battle that Enzo and herself were trying to help him through. He missed Mystic Falls but at the same time he also had this look of wonder on his face whenever they went into a new town. He lowkey loved traveling around and seeing other parts of the country.
Alvina did notice that Jeremy was better compared to when they first left his home town. He was adjusting and Alvina hoped that within the next month or two he would be much more relaxed and enjoying himself. Perhaps in the next month or two she'd be adjusted to the profuse amount of male hormones and be able to enjoy herself as well.
Enzo had to be the one taking everything in stride. He was the closest to Klaus and the peacemaker of sorts. Arguments didn't breakout all that often but there were tense and uncomfortable moments Enzo had gotten used to defusing. He's also grown closer to Stefan as well. To be honest, the Brit is a large reason they hadn't turned on each other yet.
"So, where's our next stop?" Enzo asks, collapsing on the bed beside Jeremy. The teenage boy rests his head on his shoulder while scrolling through his phone.
"I'm thinking west," Klaus says organizing his things. "There was a werewolf pack there a few decades ago,"
"What if they're not there?" Jeremy asks. Klaus pauses what he's doing to look at him. Jeremy didn't speak up often but when he did he had Klaus's complete attention. A small detail that always made Enzo and Alvina smile.
"Then we keep looking," Klaus tells him. "We will find them. They won't be able to hide forever," He smirks.
"What happens when you do find them?" Jeremy questions. "How will you make them into hybrids?" Klaus moves toward the bed and sits on the edge of it on Jeremy's side but keeps his distance.
"It'll be just like making a vampire only my blood will be able to turn them into hybrids," Klaus explains.
"Then what?" Jeremy asks. "After we find the werewolves, after you make your hybrids, what then?" Klaus looks at him for a moment.
"I'll create an army and then we'll be kings," Klaus answers with a brazen smirk.
"An army?" Jeremy asks, sitting up. "Who are you fighting?"
"You don't create an army when you have someone to fight. You create an army to dissuade others from moving against you in the first place," Klaus advises him.
"And we'll be kings? Kings of what?"
Klaus risks shifting closer to Jeremy. He shifts in his spot but doesn't move away from Klaus. It's a win in the hybrids book.
"Of whatever you want," Klaus tells him. "The city, the vampires, the hybrids, the world... whatever you want, whatever you desire."
Jeremy's lips slowly turn up into a conservative grin. Klaus winks before standing up and moving away. Jeremy's eyes don't leave him, a fact the hybrid knows. Enzo smirks watching Klaus's subtle flexes and dramatic bends. Between him and Alvina, Enzo doubted they could handle anymore drama queens and attention seekers.
*Kind of an abrupt ending and a short chapter but I hope you enjoyed it!*
