Chapter 13

Third person

Alex was confused to see the tiny human by the door. He was here to discuss about the human they had discovered on their land and all those other dead bodies of rogues that seemed to be increasing in numbers recently.

But actually, seeing the human in person, made the blood in his body hot as his heart started to beat rapidly. Who was she? He wanted to find out even more now.

He observed her fragile little body as her dark blue eyes finally met his. The centre of his forehead scorched hot for a second before the pain itself disappeared. As if his body was responding to a blood call from her. Like she was the one to command him. To control his body. He squinted his eyes as he knew that only one was able to do that and she was no longer there.

Alex somehow felt like he knew her but then he doesn't remember ever having an encounter with this human. Or any human before.

He was so occupied that he didn't even notice that Matt was now next to her. "This is the Warrior pack that we talked about a few days ago." He points out his hand towards the men in that kitchen.

"And that." Matt points his finger towards Alex which made Alex look at him. "That is Alex. Alexander Knight."

Even though he was standing right in front of her, the human still couldn't remember him but both his name and his face was utterly familiar to her. Like her blood knew who he was. Unfortunately, her brain didn't have the capacity to hold her memories from before she woke up in this place. Sadly, all she could do now was nod her head in acknowledgement.

"And this is..." Matt looks down at the human as she too looks up at him wondering what he was going to introduce her as. She was a person without a name. Matt has an internal debate with himself as he thinks about it. And as his mind screamed the only name his mouth voiced it.

"Althea."

Frozen shock, Alex's body goes numb as he looks at the tiny human. Althea. His mind repeats her name over and over. The little human that was now introduced as Althea, fidgets and looks down at the floor, her body slightly shaking.

He then lets out a breath of disappointment. It was just a name. She was an empty vessel with her name. She was nothing like his goddess. Althea was strong, dominant, fierce. She was the epitome of power.

But this human standing in front of him was just a fragile, scared little human girl. She feared the attention. Her body looked too weak for her to carry any power. And right now, it clearly proved it as she stood shakily, barely being able to contain her fear.

Alex had now recovered from his initial shock of meeting her. He smiled at her as he walked a few steps towards them. "It's nice to meet you, Althea."

But Althea was still nervous and scared to greet him with all those watching her. So, she just nods her head and looks back at Matt. "I-I think I'll go and check where Noah is." Then she turns around and hurries out of there without even looking back.

"What was that about?" Alex asks Matt seeing her leave.

Matt sighs. "I'll tell you soon." Then he looks towards Tray. "Come on, Tray. Let's get moving."

Tray nods and kisses Natalie's head before he stands up and joins them as the three now head upstairs to their Alpha's office which seemed to be his permanent lair for now.

"She seemed quite keen to meet you when she first heard your name." Matt says as they close his office.

"Me?"

"I guess she doesn't know you as well then. Do you?" Matt stops to look at Alex.

Alex raises his hands in the air. "Don't look at me like that. This is the first time I have met her." Matt sighs again as they walk to the door and stand in front of it. He knocks the door and the Alpha soon grunts, "Come in."

The three walks into the office. Tray and Matt bows their head slightly and heads to his side and stands on either side of the chair where he sat. "It's been a while, Alpha Aries." Alex says as he stands across the table.

"No formalities needed Alex. Please take a seat." Alex chuckles as he sits down. "It's an old habit, so it might take some time. Aries."

Aries leans back on his chair as he gets more serious. "You are also aware of the increasing number of dead rogues spotted over the week, right?" Alex nods his head. "Do you have any lead on that?"

Alex sighs. "I have sent my best trackers, but I still got nothing. It's hard to find rogues these days. I don't know how anyone manage to locate them, let alone kill them. I still don't know why anyone would do that."

Aries takes a deep breath as disappointment takes over him. "I had hopes that you had something."

"Sorry, Aries. I'm as clueless as you." He says, disappointed in himself too. Even with his pack full of rogues, he was still unable to help.

"Anyways what about the human girl, Althea."

Aries clenches his fists as a deep growl escapes his lips. Alex looks at him confused then realises what he had done. "I'm sorry." He says in a low voice. "I didn't mean to-"

"Never mind. I had to talk to you about the human as well." Alex looks interested upon hearing this. "She seems to have no memory of her life before." Alex felt sorry for the human, but he didn't interrupt Aries.

"If you don't mind, do you think you can let her stay on your pack for the time being." Aries hard eyes look at him, almost begging him to take her from there.

"But Alpha-" Aries holds out a hand which stops Matt from saying anything more. While his eyes still look dead on Alex's.

"With all due respect Alpha, I cannot take her with me. She seems to be afraid of new faces and any attention on her. Why don't you just let her stay here for now? I'll help you to search for her families, if she has any." Alex simply says it. The human did seem comfortable with Matt and he didn't want to challenge her by taking her to yet another new environment.

"Anyways, she looks comfortable around here." He adds as he slightly looks at Matt with a smirk as Matt glares at him.

Aries loud growl stops them, and Alex looks back at him. For some reason, Alex thought that Aries was acting weird, almost jealous. But the thought passed by as soon as it formed on his mind.

"Thank you for coming over, Alex. I do look forward to hearing news about the human then." His jaw clenches. "I hope, soon." He forces the words out.

Alex stands up, still looking at him. "Soon."

Aries nods. "You are free to stay for as long as you want." And with that Alex leaves the room with Tray and Matt shortly after him.
