Chapter 11
Aries Blackwood
I have been keeping an eye on her since she left the infirmary. She was such a fragile being. She was easily scared and intimidated by others. Something inside me wanted to go out there and protect her. But the other part of me denied her.
The more I watched over her, the more she reminded me of her. Like the way she is close to Noah. The way she smiles, it reminds me of how she used to smile. They had the exact same smile.
The slouch on her shoulder as she passes the bed of roses almost as if she knew its story and felt its pain. And to top that, she walked towards the tree where Althea used to sit most of the time, just watching over the training ground. It was like a hobby of her.
Everything that she does now was reminding me of her. Like this small human had a part of her soul. I crave to touch that soft skin of hers. I want to know what it feels like. Would her skin feel like the softest silk, like hers used to feel? Would I feel the soft tingles as I felt when I used to touch her? Would those lips feel like her? Would it taste like hers?
No. Stop it. It's just the bond that's making you feel this way. Remember she is not her. She can never be her. I snarled angrily at myself for letting the bond sway me like this.
Just as she turned around, I turned away and walked into the woods. I will not allow her to see me. I will not see her eyes. I will never fall for this human. She does not belong to me just as much as I don't belong to her. I clenched my jaws as I entered the darkest part of the woods and shifted.
This time, I tried to keep my distance from her. As soon as the sweet scent of hers hit my nose, I would turn the other way around and walk away from her. I did not want to see her face. I did not want to be near her.
Because I was afraid that I would give in when I look into the depths of her eyes. I knew that she would suck me into her hypotonic eyes, and I wouldn't be able to do anything.
Sam, Harry. Into my office now. I mind link them because I wanted to find out more about her so I could send her off to where she came from. I couldn't keep her here forever. No, she can't stay here any longer.
The knock on the door broke me out of my thoughts. "Come in."
The door opened up and Sam and Harry walked in and stood by the table in front of me. "Alpha." They bowed before standing straight.
"Where did you find this human?" I asked as they both looked at one another before Sam started talking. "Just by the border on our side, Alpha. She was unharmed and-"
Sam bit his lips to stop himself. Impatient, I leaned on the table with my elbows on the edge. "And?" My voice commanded him to continue.
I saw Harry as his expression morphed into terror. Then I looked back at Sam who now looked on the floor. My patient was running out at this point as I let out a deep growl.
"Naked." Sam breathed out. I clenched my fingers to stop myself from ripping out their eyes who saw her body. I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply to calm the beast inside me.
"James said she was fine, although she seems to have lost her memory. She doesn't seem to know who or what she is?" He added quickly. I opened my eyes to see him already looking back up to meet my eyes, fear clear in them.
"What do you mean?" I manage to say.
"S-she" He gulped. "She doesn't seem to understand some things, although she fluently speaks the language." I squinted my eyes at that. "Elaborate." I growled feeling annoyed at how he was twisting the story.
"She doesn't k-know what werewolf means or humans. S-she...J-James assumes that a w-witch might have erased her memory because apart from that she's fine. I don't know anything else." He quickly added before he looked down again.
There goes my plan to send her away. I let out a deep breath as I close my eyes. I rub my forehead with my fingers. "Go and investigate on this. If you find anything" I opened my eyes and looked at them. "Anything at all. Let me know."
"Yes, Alpha."
"You're dismissed." I was tired now. This tiny human was taking all of my energy. I watched them as they walked out the door. But before Harry closed the door, he looked at me. "Alpha, I think you should talk with Noah."
I raised my eyebrows at that. "He seems to know something." He murmured. I nod my head slightly and he shuts the door.
Now what does Noah know? Why are there so many things happening? We have been finding dead corpse of rogues around a lot recently. Although there was a very few of them, rogues still existed. But this time, they chose to remain one. And someone was taking this as an opportunity to kill them. Why though was my question.
I sighed as I got off my chair. I haven't been able to do any work these days and siting here was not going to make me. So, I headed out the door to look for Noah. Whatever it might be that he knows about this human.
I finally found him in the field with Matt and others. As I made my way towards them, the sweet vanilla and lavender hit my senses and I stopped. I saw Natalie and her making their way towards them from the far side.
I clenched my jaws and fisted my hands. But what shocked me was Noah as he ran towards her screaming out a name.
My heart stopped for a while as I stopped breathing. I felt my eyes go dark as I turned around and sprinted into the woods. Blood now pumping through my veins and my heart jumping out of my chest as my lungs filled up with more air.
An unknown rage took upon me as I shifted into my wolf and ran further and deeper into the woods. Then I howled up to the heavens for playing yet another game with me. I was cursing at her for playing with my heart.
Noah had called out to her, with her name.
Althea.
