The Goddess Of Life (1)

Third person

She lowers her head a little.

And finally, the Lycans and wolves could see the light in her eyes that now shines through the world, as those silvers torches the darkness around.

But on the other hand, her coal back eyes become one with the so-called darkness. Hatred, it holds all. Slowly making the silver dull which only holds the pain, the sadness. It grieves its loss and gradually the light in them too starts to fade along.

"I will destroy this land that does not hold your breath. I refuse to reside in a universe that does not accept your heart. And I will never ascend to heaven that does not house your soul."

Gruesome words roar throughout the land as the war halts, as if time froze still petrified of the rise of the dark goddess. One by one, the creatures too starts to dissipate as the darkness torches its core. Until there was none that lived apart from the man called Vyncent.

Staggering on his feet, he moves forward, wounds decorating his now shredded clothes, smeared in red blood. "You think you have won. No. You will never. I'll kill every one of you."

His own black eyes holds the hatred of his soul, wrapped around in vines planted with revenge. "I'll kill-" Raising his clawed fingers in the air, he prepares to land a blow on Althea, who he now deemed as weak and powerless with her dead mate in her arms while the rest of the world wept along with her.

But before his claws could reach her, a sharp knife pierces right through his throat. And before he could react, Alex swiftly comes before him and grabs the quilt of the knife, pulling it hard.

Ripping his throat half with empty eyes, he places the knife right back on his throat and cleanly detaches his head, dismantling him, leaving his head to roll on the red pool of his own blood.

And now with Harmony's soul departing from the land and back to him, Alex finally becomes whole again with his missing silver wings now sprouting proudly from his back. He stands firm as a shield in front of Althea with his outstretched wings. His own black eyes now one with the darkness that encases him too.

And the world stays stunned at the revelation of the fallen deities before them. Alex who once was the heaven's pride, Althea's own divine beast, too had chosen to follow her paths, whether it be heaven or hell.

Althea remains impassive as she cradles her lifeless mate deeper into her embrace. She nudges her face against his icy pale skin. A longing in that bittersweet smile on her face. Red line marks her pale skin, lining her cheek, her eyes now closed as she indulges in what was left of him.

"Zoella..."

"Zoe..."

The beings all around her calls out her mundane name but it does not reach her.

"Althea..."

Even her true name couldn't hold her anymore. She now knew why she disliked being called Althea. The name held a vast power to it, yet she could not even summon a quarter of it to honour her one wish. The name was her curse, the heaven unholy.

She lifts herself, free of the desperate voices around her. Their cries, the echoes of their heart, it was all but mute to her ears. Bringing her forehead to his, she lowers her head until eventually the warmth of her lips touches his cold yet soft ones.

The most heart-breaking scene unfolds for the heaven and hell, for the universe to witness.

"For you, I will bear the hatred of the universe..." She whispers softly against his lips.

"I will sit on the pits of hell, if hell is where your soul lies..."

Bringing her head higher, her eyes flickers, observing the delicate features of his handsome face.

"And if sin is what you are, then I will be the ultimate sinner."

Althea declares to the heaven as a pair of horn sprouts out of her silver halo. The wind howls while the darkness blazes higher, fiercer, greeting its new ruler. It's new Queen.

And finally, the darkness reaches towards the silver in her eyes and the tips of her equally silver hair. The only connection she had to heaven. Slowly erasing her existence with them, with her brilliance now turning towards darkness.

But just as the darkness spreads no further than the corner of her eye, the goddess, Hela Silvermoon, herself, appears before Althea, her only daughter.

Her own silver eyes glossed, reflecting the darkness that surrounds her. She stands amongst the living, with an aura of heaven, igniting flame of purity, unlike the dark goddess, her daughter in front of her.

Then with another silver halo, Destiny too appears with a heavy heart laid in the shimmers of her eyes. She watches the lovers that she had paired with her red thread, promised to give them love, only to be apart. Guilt and ashamed, her eyes flicker away from them with her fists clenched tight.

"Oh, my sweet child..." The goddess calls out, her heart crushing inside her as she watches her once innocent child morph into something born of hatred. Almost evil.

This was why she never wanted to pair a soul with Aries, let alone her only daughter. He was doomed for eternity. Happiness was never on his fate. The goddess knew that even if he did succeed in his trial this time, in stopping his carnage, he was still destined to reside in the depth of hell as his soul was broken beyond repair.

And hell had no place for her daughter.

But regardless of the truth, she had paired her stubborn daughter with him.

She had hoped that her innocent daughter will somehow manage to remain her pure self and maybe succeed in bringing him to the gates of heaven. But all went wrong when heartbreak became too much for her to bear, when she saw nothing but that boy.

But it was all her fault. The goddess blames herself as pearly tears cascades down her eyes, as she watches her daughter's now pitiful self.

If only she was harsh. If only she had denied her daughter's soul to be halved. If only she had denied her daughter to love a man who had nothing at the end of his time.

"You were right mother."

Althea looks at her mother with an empty face but her eyes projects so much emotion.

Destiny is cruel... She hears her mother's warning echo in her ears.

"Destiny is in fact cruel..." Althea smiles as she diverts her now soft gaze back to Aries. "But mother my heart still chooses him. So even if in death, let me hold him. Let me love him, mother."

"There is still time. You don't have to do this, child." But Althea shakes her head regardless. "Why Althea? Why are you willing to go so far for this boy?" She asks the same question again in hopes that her answer may have changed over time.

But Althea chuckles softly, placing the small of her hand on his face, pushing back the stray golden hair that had fallen over his face. "Because he is my soul. He is my heart. He is my beginning. And me?" She scoffs at herself.

"I am just his burden, his loneliness. I am his end."

She starts shaking as her face once again hardens, jaws clenched tight. "Now there's nothing left of us. They took him away so I will take everything away from them."

The goddess takes a step forward but the blazing dark flames rising from the ground stops her. "If the universe cannot give us time, what importance does it hold to me? I could do nothing for him as a goddess, but I can do everything for him now. No rules, no restriction. I will travel to the ends of hell and bring his soul back to his body. And if hell refuses, I will even destroy hell, mother. No one can stop me from being with him. No one."

Darkness suddenly blazes fiercer, forcing even the goddess to take a step back. Her eyes wide with shock by the amount of resentment that her sweet daughter carried in her sadness, the goddess shakes her head in disbelief and disappointment.

"Althea, grief has made you blind. Come out of this darkness and look at yourself. You-"

"But why is it that I see so much clearer now?"

The words get stuck on the back of her tongue upon Althea's soft voice. Her simple yet insoluble question makes the goddess speechless.

After moments of silence, the goddess finally lets out a soft sigh, her shoulders drops as the heaviness of her daughter's grief latches deeply in her own soul. She shakes her head before she tightly closes her slender fingers into her palm.

"Aries is where he was always meant to be, so please Althea come back home with me, where you were always meant to be."

With blood red tears still melting down her eyes, Althea looks at her mother, broken. "The day I gave him half my soul, I was forever meant to be in his arms." Then she looks around at the sand soaked in red.

"This land was supposed to be my place with him in this infinity. Althea is meant to be with Aries."

It was only the truth that she spoke. The heaven was a witness. It watched her offer her soul and hence her love to him.

"Aries is Althea's infinity. He is her home."

The wind carries her sorrow, her truth as it gently swirls around her, playing with the dark tips of her silver hair. And her mother too sheds a blood red tear from her silver eyes as she finally realises that she has lost her only daughter.

That heaven has lost its goddess.

The goddess that once gave life, failed to give life to one thing that really mattered to her because of the cruel destiny of her mate, of Aries.

"Randolph..."
