Paperinik's adventures

(Based off Paperinik/ the duck avenger! And it's a Ducktales 2017 oneshot lol. Not sure if I'll ever update this XD. Also headcannons :

-Donald's voice is the result of a throat injury that never fully healed from when his parents died in the car accident.

-Donald is best dad (he tries to be anyways, even without realizing it-)

This could tie into my 'Tougher than the toughies, smarter than the smarties' oneshot series, if you wanna be technical. Just wanted to show my take on how Donald could've became the duck avenger in Ducktales 2017 lol. Hope y'all enjoy!)

"Why are we here again?"

Scrooge glanced at his nephew, a large grin on his face as he spoke," Why , we're here for a wee bit of explorin'! And I hear' that there's a lost artifact known as ' Asgore's Tridant', an artifact said to have conquered a lost civilization!"

Donald huffed, crossing his arms in annoyance. It was the same thing over and over again... A relic that would end up almost killing them. "Can't we just, I don't know... Stay home?"

Scrooge laughed, patting Donald on the shoulder," No can do, lad. We hav' ta find it before it ends up in the wrong hands. Now come oan. "

And off they went, his uncle, himself, Della, the boys, webby, and Launchpad all heading into the plane to take them to the adventure.

The only one not excited about it was Donald. And he had his reasons. His bad luck always gave him trouble, him getting the rough end of the adventures, be it being frozen in a glacier or electrocuted. His luck got even worse when one of his family members was in danger. He ended up getting hurt while protecting them.

Not that he didn't want to protect them. He would willingly put his life on the line if it meant protecting his loved ones. It just got a bit... Much at times.

So much so that sometimes he just needed a break from it all.

He sighed as he shifted the bag strap on his shoulder, the plain brown leather bag hanging limply.

He didn't even know why he brought it. He just felt like he'll need it at some point.

He was most definitely right about needing the bag. They all had ended up being split up after arriving at the temple where the artifact was, something had caused them to fall into different slides.

He ended up alone of course.. And worry bubbled up inside him as he had no clue if his family was alright.

That worry was soon put on the backburner for later when he noticed what room his was now in.

It was smaller than the other rooms they saw, no doorways visible on the stone walls. The only noticable thing was a chest in the center of the room, surrounded by what seemed to be pressure plates.

Had he found the artifact?!

... Probably not, if his dumb luck has anything to say about it.

... He should really look for a way out.

He started walking close to the walls, pressing and running his fingers along the bricks to see if there was any hidden buttons anywhere.

Unluckily, there wasn't any mystery buttons in both sight and touch. What he did find, however, was the outline of a door. Viewing the bricks from far away made it seem like there wasn't one, but you could definitely tell from up close.

Seeing as there wasn't a switch anywhere the would potentially open it, it would seem he would have to open the chest to leave the room...

He might forcibly be cursed upon the opening of it.... phooey...

He gulped, slowly approaching the chest with hesitance clear in his surprisingly silent steps. He stopped approaching the chest when he reached the pressure plates.

Are the pressure plates traps? Most likely..... Maybe he can just... Reach over them? Even though he is a bit short for a duck, it seemed as if he could definitely reach it.

He leaned forward, careful to not fall as he reached for the chest. His fingertips brushed it, him pushing forward and flipping the lid of the chest open.

It flung open quickly, causing Donald to yelp, and slightly lose his balance. Once he straightened up, he peeked inside the box to see... A suit?

It was red and black, kinda not what you would see for something that probably has been here for years. There was a brown leather belt with a golden circular buckle. It had a pair of matching golden yellow boots. There was also a blue with red on the inside cape....

All in all, it was something a vigilante would wear.

..... Why did he feel like he needed to take it? Like it was his destiny?

.... Yyyyeeeeaaaaahhhhh no thanks.

Donald quickly turned around, about to step through the door, until he realized the door hadn't opened.

Phooey, he's gonna have to take the suit.

Stupid Donald duck luck...

He grumbled, turning back around and scooping the suit and everything else in the chest into his bag, securing the bag afterwards. He heard the grinding of stone, turning around once more to see the doorway was now opening.

He glared at the door, stomping through the door into the next area.

Today officially sucked for Donald Fauntleroy Duck.
