THE CRIMES WE COMMIT

Darkness engulfs me as I venture through this world,

World full of lies, deceit and greed,

Greed that is ceaseless and persistent;

Persistent rituals and beliefs aggravate my being,

Being a girl I feel scared,

Scared they may rob my virtues,

Virtues that should’ve received respect,

Respect today is only for those who are either pretty or wealthy,

Wealthy in what terms I ask you,

You are determined that everything is materialistic,

Materialistic pleasures could never compare to the wealth of one’s soul,

Soul is supposed to be pure,

Pure, but isn’t ours tainted?

Tainted and tenaciously stained with all our crimes,

Crimes that we commit each day, everyday!
