• Bonus Chapter #1 •
Depression
My mind was an excruciating abyss,
Every thought took me further away from bliss.
All I wanted was my voice to be heard,
Someone to understand why my thoughts were so blurred.
It was a long fight, but it had to end,
It felt as if everything was impossible to amend.
And finally when I did feel numb,
I had already succumbed.
-----------------------
Nobody heard him till his last breath,
He had no choice but to surrender to death.
IMPORTANT
The reason why I wrote this poem is that today one of the best actors of Bollywood (and one of my personal favorites), Sushant Singh Rajput, committed suicide. His movies were always so inspiring and he himself was a great actor, dancer, and human. Why he committed suicide hasn't been disclosed yet since there was no suicide note but many say that he had been receiving help and was trying to get out of depression. What is sad is the fact that this person had everything- fame, money, fan following, but ultimately what matters is your mental health, mental peace.
Sushant was famous and so we know his story, we have a slight understanding of what he went through but there are so many other people around the world who are constantly trying to battle depression, so many whose stories will always remain unheard. And although there is nothing we can do to help people who we don't know, we must remember to be there for the ones around us. We need to listen, we need to make sure that they know their story is being heard, that there are people who are right there next to them, helping them, supporting them, believing in them.
What is worse is that his last film was based on the teaching that suicide isn't the answer, that just because a few things go wrong, it doesn't mean that your life is meaningless.
