Chapter 3

Izzudin was sitting at the cliff looking down at the waves that was hitting the rocks violently. It was a mirror of his own feelings, what he felt deep inside, and he almost hated himself for comparing himself with the sea, the water, which was their current enemy.

Izzudin sighed, deep and harsh. He closed his blue eyes for a while a took in a lungful of air, trying to calm his raging feelings, letting the breeze to caress his cheeks. He could almost hear her laugh and see her smile, the one that always light up the fortress..

"Izz.."

His eyes snapped open and he quickly turned to his back.

Miezza was standing there, a hand holding her hair from her face as the wind blew through them. Her eyes wide as she took cautious steps towards him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, taking another timid step.

Izz tilted his head, trying to figure what she was thinking, and when he did, he smiled and turned back to face the ocean.

"I'm not going to jump, Miezza."

He heard her let out a breath, and a second later he felt her figure standing beside him.

"May I..?" She asked and he shrugged.

She sat down next to him, looking down at the hard waves on the rocky surface, thinking how she could survive if she ever fall down.

"You don't have to be so polite." He said.
"Well, you are one of the leaders.." Miezza trailed off and he chuckled.

"Do you think we want to? Just because we're the part of the original clan." He said softly, almost whispering.

Miezza sighed and looked up at the starry night. It was really beautiful there, she can't get enough of the view. It was different than the city, where she came from.

"It must be very hard.. being born in the clan I mean."

"It was." He replied. "It was even harder after the attack. Everyone was gone, it's only us." Miezza turned to him who had his eyes set on the dark horizons.

"Farra took it the hardest. She was only a little girl, but the weight of the burden she has to endure is too much. We have to fend for ourselves, train ourselves. And Aieyn too. Sometimes I wish I could help her with her sorrow. She wasn't always that hard, Miezza. She was a lovely girl, but after the ambush.."

He took a deep breath. "They are the only family I have left. I will die for them, that's why I can't think straight, not with Sheron's gone."

The cute face of the short girl flashed in Miezza's mind. She was always with Izz, no wonder he will become crazy due to her disappearance. Miezza's heart contradicted by the feeling that she was starting to get since a few weeks ago, since she first arrived to the fort with the other new members of the clan.

"We have our own grieves, but as long as we have each other, the grief will be forgotten." He finished the words with a smile. He knew she was still alive and well, and he vowed to himself that he will save her, no matter what.

Farra looked around her with confusion. She was fast asleep in the room she shared with Aieyn, but someone or something woke her up, and when she opened her eyes, it wasn't the same dark and familiar room she knew.

She was in a dimmed room, with no window, just the small bulb to light up the entire space. It smelt of dirt and wet, the walls were just plain bricks. It was then when she realised she was surrounded by steel bars, cage.

She tried to move but something constrained her. She looked down to see her arms and legs chained up to a very big iron ball, the one they used to chain criminals of some sort a very long time ago. It was also rusty, and it made the ball thousand times more heavier. She pulled on her arms and tried to move her legs but to no avail. She was wearing a white plain dress that reached to her knees, her feet bare.

'Since when do I wear dress?' she thought.
Just then, she heard the sound of a rusty door hinges and her head snapped to that direction.

A guy came in whistling, twirling a big key on his index finger. He walked towards the cage and opened the steel door with the same key.

"Hey there sunshine. Had a good night sleep?" He smiled, standing a feet away from her.

She wanted to bark an answer, to ask why she was there, and what he wanted, but her body beat her to it.

"Mmmfh."

The guy's smile widened and he walked closer. Farra could feel her body backed up a bit. Why did her body acted without her consent?

He crouched to the same level as her, and reached to her cheek. A tinge of pain was felt when the tape was ripped harshly from her face.

"Better isn't it?" He said with the same smile. Farra had to strain herself from ripping his mouth.

"Let me go." She, or more like her body said. Farra's eyes went wide.

"What do you want from me?" She said again.

The guy tsked. If he wasn't the one who kept her here, Farra will admit that he's quite handsome. His curly hair reached his collar and he left his top few buttons open, exposing his toned chest.

"It's not what I want from you, mi'amour, it's what I need from you." He leaned in until his face were too close for her liking, studying every inch of her face and reached to twirl a single strand of her hair. "Hm, you are perfect, but I want her."

He stood up and walked away to a smaller door at the corner of the room, leaving the door opened.

Farra moved and surprisingly her body did too. This time she pulled hard on the chain, trying to walk near the escape, but the iron ball made it hard for any of her attempt.

"It's no use," a voice was heard, and she felt a presence next to her. She turned abruptly to see the guy's face was close to her, watching her every move. She fell back in shock, her palms scraped on the rough floor.

He smiled, pointing to the chain and iron ball. "That thing is enchanted. It wouldn't move. And that.." He nodded to the cuffs around her arms and legs. "Has spells on it, so that you won't be able to use your powers."

Farra could feel her hands turned cold, and her heart beat painfully on her chest. Whoever that guy was, surely he wasn't into anything good at all. He stepped forward and her body unconsciously scooted backwards, or must she say, she was unconscious of anything her body did. During that time, she managed to study him, as she tried to keep the breathing that turned ragged in her lungs, she noticed that his left hand was hidden behind his back. She looked at him suspiciously.

When he was so close, he crouched and grabbed her wrist with his free hand, which she tugged back, but he pulled on and squeezed hard until a sharp gasp escaped her mouth.

"Keep still." He said, revealing a hidden syringe from his back. It had some kind of colourless liquid in it.

Farra kept still but her body writhed against his hold, trying to free herself as she chanted, "no, no, let me go."

She couldn't kept still, and trashed as hard as she could with her hands and legs cuffed. But he was too strong, and he grew angry when she didn't listen. Another sharp tug, and he stabbed her wrist with the syringe, pushing the liquid into her system.

Her view blurred as she felt her stomach flipped and burned as if it was on fire. He let her wrist go, and she backed away, just to fall down on her side. Her head throbbed and everything seemed to be spinning. It was the time when the drug took over her body and her focus were depleting when she saw him smile and said,

"Soon, darling."
