Chapter 14
"Light!"
Lily shot a big lightning ball to the girl who crouched in a defense mode infront of her, and as soon as the it came out of Lily's hand, Jyra rolled from it's way and it exploded when it collided with the ground.
When she saw it did not manage to hit her opponent, Lily became agitated and she released five more light balls. Jyra ducked, jumped and rolled on the ground to escape the balls. She responded with a sand wall. Lily looked up to see how tall it was, and Jyra used the opportunity to raise three more walls on either sides of Lily and at her back. Finally she closed the top, in case Lily decided to fly up for her escape.
"Lesson one, never get distracted." Jyra mumbled. She remembered what Izzudin told her, she was yelled at a lot because her concentration was easily disturbed.
She breathed heavily, courtesy of the long practice she was having with Lily, as Danish and Zulfikar watched them sparred with a deep interest.
When Jyra thought she was going to win, because Lily did not move from her sand box, light emitted from between small cracks of the sand box. Jyra's forehead crinkled as she stood there watching what was happening. Suddenly, the sand exploded, a bright light bursted. The force was so hard, that it light up the entire field, and blinded those who stood near it. It pushed Jyra away, and she landed on top of Danish, hard.
Danish groaned painfully, as Jyra scrambled back to her feet. Zul rubbed his eyes from the sand and blinked a few times, washing it away with his tears. Lily stood where Jyra locked her, her hands on her knees, breathing hard.
"Sheesh, remind me not to mess with you girls." Danish groaned, still lying on the ground.
Zul rubbed his eyes before squinting them at Jyra and Lily. "This is just a practice, and you two overdo it."
Jyra shrugged and went to help Lily.
"We did good nevertheless." She said, wrapping her arms around the still gasping Lily.
"Yeah, it took me a lot of energy to crumble your walls."
"I may have to thicken it a bit though, then it would be even harder to destroy." Jyra replied thoughtfully, guiding Lily to where the guys were.
Danish moaned. "Then who's going to help me up? I think I have a broken hip."
"I'm not even that heavy, dummy." Jyra rolled her eyes and Lily laughed, which sounded more like wheezing, where she tried to catch a breath and laugh at the same time.
A clap was heard behind them and they all turned around, including Danish.
"Not bad." A guy said, crossing his toned arms on his chest. He locked eyes with the short haired girl who simply glared at him.
"Not bad ?" Alex repeated. "It was awesome! Good job ladies, you never fail to impress me." He clapped loudly, and Lissa followed suit, grinning from ear to ear.
"Well, clearly someone's disagree." Lily glared at the guy who stood beside Lissa. He tilted his head to his side, looking bored, but the way he clenched his jaw, Lily knew he was angry.
Everyone noticed the tension that was brimming from the two person. Alex decided to stop it right then to avoid any fight that was sure going to happen.
"Hey, let's go get lunch. You can tell me about your powers while we're at it. I'm excited to know." He said, and Jyra lit up at the idea. Apparently she liked to talk about her powers and brag, a lot.
Zul and Danish joined their little chit chat as they walked toward the house leaving Lily, who was still in a glaring war with Dylan, and Lissa who was holding her breath. She hated to see her friends fight.
"Dyl, you coming?" Alex cheerful voice was heard a few feet away. With a last glare, Dylan turned and walked away, hands in his pockets.
Lissa breathed out.
"Oh my god, I thought you're going to fight." She whined. "You scared the heck out of me."
Lily shoot daggers to Dylan's retreating back. If looks could kill, he will probably die by now. Not like Lily would mind.
"What the hell is wrong with him? He seemed like he doesn't like me." Lily voiced out sharply.
Lissa waved her hand dismissively. "Don't be ridiculous, he doesn't dislike you."
Lily grunted. "Well he sure is to me. Look at him, he hates me! If he can he would want to kill me, barehanded."
Lissa shook her head, and watched as Dylan's tiny silhouette disappeared behind the kitchen's door.
"It's not like what you think. I think it is because you resembled someone important to him."
Lily raised an eyebrow. "Who?"
"It's not my story to tell." Lissa smiled dryly. "Come on, I'm starving." She linked arm with Lily and pulled her to the house.

Lunch was far from quiet. The Dining Room that was quiet before the new members came in, was even noisier now that the Numbers were there. As usual, Farra sat at the end of the long table, Aieyn beside her and Sheronica on the other side, whose chair was still empty because she was busy taking out the food from the kitchen with Zulfikar helping her. Hisham sat infront of Farra, and Noorizan sat beside him, followed by Danish who was still complaining about his hip that might be broken. Next to Danish was empty, cue for Zul, and Jyra sat beside the empty seat, glaring to Danish who was still whining about the accident, making a scene.
"I told you I was not that heavy." Jyra said between gritted teeth.
Danish rolled his eyes. "Well care to explain why my hip broke then?"
Jyra gasped. "You're such a girl! The impact wasn't that hard. I was only like, ten feet away from you!"
"How about I check that hip later?" A short girl appeared between them, placing a bowl of salad on the table.
"Thank you Sher. That would be very appreciated." Danish replied, raising a brow toward Jyra who was already fuming. Miezza elbowed her and told her to relax, and the fight stopped there.
Lily who was sitting beside Sheronica's empty chair chuckled at her friends' behaviour. Lissa sat beside her who was eyeing the food, while whispering to Alex who was the last person in that row. They were talking about which food to eat first.
Sheronica excused herself to send food for Izzudin and urged them not to wait for her. So they started to eat first.
"I heard Lily managed to destroy your walls, Jyra, is that right?" Farra asked, filling her plate with rice, and she passed the bowl of rice to Aieyn who did the same thing.
Lily raised her eyes and caught Jyra who was grinning to her. She smirked back.
"Yeah, the best fight I ever had."
"I must say I'm impressed by you, both of you. Keep it up." Farra smiled revealing her deep dimples. Aieyn nodded.
"Keep doing what you're doing and we might be able to win this." Aieyn said, and everyone cheered. Her face remained expressionless, but Noorizan knew how much she wanted to smile.
"What?" She asked grumpily, and Noorizan chuckled.
"You know, you don't have to hide your smile." Noorizan whispered, as his voice was drowned by the other's chat.
"I saw your mouth twitched." He added, and bursted out laughing. Aieyn rolled her eyes and pretended to not hear anything.
"So you're basically acquainted with light, huh, Lil?" Alex asked, eyes locked with the meat that Lissa handed him.
"Lil?" Dylan who sat beside Miezza, and the last one on his row snorted. Lily glared at him.
"Come one guys, we don't want Farra and Aieyn to hear about this." Lissa mumbled slowly, so that their unpleasant conversation were only heard between them.
She shot a warning look to Dylan who brushed it off like nothing. He was a great friend but sometimes his arrogance was too much.
"Well I'm not the one that has been acting like a jerk." Lily mumbled, stabbing a fork onto a meat.
Dylan's ears perked up and he glared at Lily. He was about to say something but he was interrupted when Sheronica returned to the Dining room and sat with them.
"Izz should stop eating at the office." Aieyn said between a mouthful of rice.
"He's busy, I don't mind sending his meals to him." Sheronica chuckled and scooped rice onto her plate.
"I don't mean that, Sher. Of course you don't mind." Aieyn rolled her eyes. "But he should stop shutting himself off. Does he even sleep?"
Sheronica did not answer to that one. The truth was, everyone especially the leaders were worried about his well-beings. The unspoken words that they shared between looks and soft smiles. But knowing Izzudin, he will not stop working even if someone tell him to.
Miezza's eyes darted up to the leaders who were eating quietly after that. She looked down to her food. Her mind quickly flashed back to what she said to him the other day.
She had left him speechless and no matter how much she had hoped that he would chase after her when she walked away, he did not. And it just breaks her heart more.
'Perhaps he is mad at me.' Miezza thought, and the guilt quickly seeped in.
"Are you okay?"
Miezza raised her eyes to the person next to her and forced a smile.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course. Hey, watch your food, Zul is about to steal your meat." Miezza said and chuckled when Jyra screeched.
The girl then slapped Zul's back and he whined as he returned the piece of meat back to her.
