Xavier's POV
I was driving towards the pack house when my beta, Theodore mind-linked me.
"Alpha, 2 rogues crossed the Eastern Border. We don't know where they came from. Our trackers couldn't catch their scents until it was too late. They didn't cause any harm though," he said in a rushed voice.
"Are you and Asher at the Eastern border right now?" I asked as I pressed the breaks.
"Yes, Alpha," he replied.
"Stay there, I am on my way," I turned my car around and drove towards the Eastern border.
I stopped the car when I reached the border. I got out of the car and started walking towards them. I could see Theo, Asher, Richard and border patrol standing near the border, waiting for me.
"Hello Alpha," two members of the border patrol greeted me.
"No time for greetings Cameron. Tell me how the hell it happened?" I snapped angrily.
"W-we don't know, Alpha," he said shakily.
"Tell me, how those rogues crossed my territory without anyone finding out. You two were on border patrol, right?" I asked gritting my teeth angrily.
"We were, we were here all the time, Alpha. We didn't see any rogue cross the border and entering the pack. But when our shift was almost over, we saw two rogues running away from our territory. We don't know where they came from. We chased after them until we couldn't see them. There was no scent so we couldn't track them," the other member of border patrol replied.
"And both of you chased after them, leaving the border unguarded. What if it was a trick just to distract you guys?" I asked raising my eyebrows in question.
Their heads bowed in shame.
"Don't make such stupid mistakes that could put the lives of the whole pack on a stake," I said sternly.
"Yes, Alpha," they replied.
"Theo, Asher, and Richard meet me in my office in 20 minutes. I want to discuss some things," I said as I turned towards them.
They nodded and I went back towards my back. Getting in, I started the engine and drove away.
------
Reaching the pack house, I drove through the steel gates and parked the car in the garage. Getting out, I walked towards the front door then, straight to the elevator. I reached the top floor and took long strides towards my office. I entered my office and placed my keys on my desk. Sitting in my chair, I leaned back. The rogues were definitely becoming a big problem. They had to be stopped.
The was a light knocking on the door.
"Come in," I said as I straightened myself.
Theo, Asher, and Richard entered the office and came to sit on the chairs in front of my desk.
"Alpha, you wanted to talk?" Theo asked.
"Yeah, I do want to talk about some things," I said nodding my head towards him.
"Who is in charge of border patrol, Richard?" I asked the head warrior.
"We don't have an in charge for the border patrol. They used to report directly to Alpha Sebastian and now, you," he replied.
I nodded my head at him.
"Asher, you are in charge of the border patrol. You will be questioned about everything related to the borders. You are going to report back to me every day about the border breaching," I said in a commanding tone.
"Yes, Alpha," came his reply.
Asher was much younger than I and Theo but I think he is best for the pack's third in command.
I looked towards Richard.
"How many members are there in the border patrol," I asked him.
"There are 16, Alpha," he answered.
"Then why are there only 2 people guarding the border at a time?
"Alpha Sebastian himself made the border patrol plan. We didn't dare to question him," he replied back.
"Are there any young males that are willing to be a part of border patrol?" I directed my question towards Richard.
"Yes, we do, Alpha. I am sure about almost 8 males."
"Okay. Asher, I am changing the patrol plan. We have to guard 2 borders only. The Northern border and the Eastern border. The southern border is on the other end of town. And the Western border is protected by mountains. So, there's no need to patrol there. Increase the number of border patrol to 24. Make six teams containing 4 members each. Three teams will be guarding Eastern border and the other three will be guarding Northern border. Make three shifts for 24 hours. Ask them to act vigilantly and to never leave the border unguarded. I don't want any blunders this time," I said giving him the details about the changes made.
"Yes, Alpha. I will," he said nodding in reply.
"Theo, inform every one of the changes made. And I want the list of members of border patrol, new and old by tomorrow. Their names and ages must be mentioned in it," I said to Theodore.
"Okay, Alpha," he said nodding.
"Richard, I want you to train the teenagers harder. Teach them all the best skills you know," I told Richard.
"Yes, Alpha," he replied.
"Theo and Asher, you both may take your leave. I want to discuss something with Richard in private," I said looking at both of them
They nodded in understanding and left quietly, closing the door behind them.
"What is it, Alpha?" He asked curiously.
"I am guessing you didn't meet Evangeline today after I dropped her," I questioned him.
"No, I've been on the border since early morning," he replied back.
I nodded at him in understanding.
"Is something wrong, Alpha?" He asked worriedly.
"No, not at all. Actually, your daughter, Evangeline, is my mate," I told him.
His expression turned from worried to shock then, a huge grin spread on his face.
"I want her to move in with me. I hope you don't mind," I added.
"No, I mean we'll miss our little angel but she is your mate. She can move in with you," he said nodding.
He got up from his seat to leave. I rounded my desk and extended my hand for a handshake. He accepted my offer.
"I'll keep her safe, Richard," I said assuring him.
"I know you will," came his reply.
He patted my back.
"You are going to be a great Alpha, Xavier," he said with a smile that reached his eyes.
I nodded at him. He turned around and left my office. I sighed. It took us almost 4 hours to discuss the things. When I looked at the clock and it was already 3 p.m.
I went back to my room and decided to rest for a while.

Unknown POV
The door burst open and in came two of my men that I sent for a mission. They came and crouched down in front of my throne.
"My lord! They saw us. We didn't get caught but now they are aware of our trespassing. We are really sorry," one of them said.
"What?" My voice boomed in the room.
"My Lord! Please forgive us," one of them begged.
"Yes my lord! Forgive us," the other one repeated.
"I gave you a potion made by the strongest witch and you still made such a big mistake. It can ruin our plan. Are you aware of it?" I asked.
"The potion stopped working 10 minutes before the expected time. But, we are really sorry, my lord," one of them said.
"What did you find out?" I asked them thinking of giving them a chance.
"We know their boundary and their patrol timings, the Northern and Eastern border is guarded. The Western border is in the town so we can't go from there. The easiest border is the Northern border. Most of the area is covered by woods," one of them spoke.
I looked at them in disappointment. These are such trivial things that they find out. And the timings will surely be changed after their mistake. I got up from my throne and stepped down the stairs.
Both of them looked at me shakily.
"You did good".
Hope flared in their eyes and they shared a look.
"But, not good enough," I completed my sentence and terror filled their bodies.
They started begging and crying for forgiveness.
"I should have killed you both twelve years ago, when you made the biggest blunder and failed me," I told them.
"No! My Lord, we are really sorry. Please give us another chance. We won't fail you this time," one of them said trying to talk me out of my decision.
"No! You guys will fail me again and I will be left in the dirt just because your peanut brains don't understand simple things," I said in a final tone.
They knew what fate has in store for them but they kept on begging. I walked towards them and snapped their necks. Dropping their dead bodies on the cold floor, I admired my work. They got what they deserved.
I took one last look at their bodies and grinned. That's what you get when you mess with me, Alvah.
I walked towards the dungeon where the girl was kept. Getting her out, I dragged her frail body behind me. It was her fault that my mission failed. I wanted the other one but she had to get in the way. Now, it's time to make her pay for her mistake.
She tried to wiggle out of my hold but I tightened my hold. She whimpered out in pain. I reached my room and opened the door. Throwing her on the bed, I locked the door behind me. I turned around and looked at her. Ignoring her cries, I walked towards the bed. I've waited long enough. I want her and I always get what I want.
