CHAPTER 7

Above is the pic of Xavier.

Xavier's POV

I was running in the woods, my wolf finally at ease. I pushed my legs to run at full speed, enjoying the swooshing sound of air caused by my wolf's large body. I ran for a while then I reached a clearing. There was a small pond, the moonlight illuminating the clear water. I drank some water from it.

Suddenly, I was enveloped by the sweet honey and lavender scent. My wolf's head snapped up, ears standing to hear any movement. He started purring and jumping around in my mind.

Okay, I think he has gone crazy. But, I can't help but feel drawn to the scent. Was it- Could it be the girl from the other night. Alex started purring excitedly, forcing me to follow the scent. I hesitated at first but decided to follow it.

I trudged cautiously towards my right where the scent was coming from. I walked behind the trees and hid behind them. A body passed by me and my mind went haywire due to the scent. That- that scent. It must be that girl. Alex started jumping around my mind and screaming at me to go near her. I quietly followed behind her to see her resting her back on the tree at the boundary of the clearing. A twig snapped under my paw and I cursed at myself for not being silent. I looked up to and saw that she had turned.

She started backing away. Moonlight illuminated her face and I was awestruck. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her dark brown hair flowing over her shoulder. She looked like an angel to me. Her scent enveloped me once again. I suddenly wanted to touch her, to hold her in my arms.

"Mate! Mate! Hold mate!" my wolf started screaming at me, trying to push me back of my mind and take over but I didn't let him.

My jaw almost hit the ground at his declaration. She was so beautiful and- and so young. I decided to walk out of the shadows and show myself. I trudged leisurely towards her. Suddenly, she spotted me and screamed loudly. I couldn't help but cringe as the noise hurt my sensitive ears. She was frozen at her spot. I shifted back into human form. She was still looking at me wide-eyed.

I stepped into the clearing, moonlight illuminating my face only. I trudged towards her predatorily, my gaze never wavering from hers. I reached near her and pulled near in my arms, small shocks confirming my wolf's declaration. She was after all my mate. She must have realized that I am naked as she gasped.

"Mate," I growled into her ear, her body shivered upon hearing my voice.

I buried my head in the crook of her neck, breathing deeply in her scent. The scent that kept me and my wolf restless last night. Suddenly, she gasped and backed away from my arms.

"Wh- who are you?" she asked suddenly in her angelic voice.

Oh God! Even her voice was sweet and angelic. Wait! she doesn't know me? The Head warrior's daughter was the only one who missed the ceremony. That means she is Evangeline or Eva as dad was calling her. Pretty name for an even more beautiful girl. I smirked at the thought.

"Little girl, I am your new Alpha, Alpha Storm," I told her.

She gasped in shock as she started backing away. Suddenly, she tripped over something and before I could catch her, her head hit a tree trunk and she slipped into unconsciousness.

"Oh sh*t!" I panicked, my wolf whimpering.

I rushed to her side and picked her up. I examined her head but there was no bleeding.

"Thank God," relief flooded.

I picked her up, sparks erupted as I touched her. Her scent enveloped me like a blanket, warming my heart. I shivered at that, my wolf howling in joy. I ran with her in my arms towards the pack house.

"George, I want you at the pack house in 10 minutes," I mind-linked the pack doctor.

"Yes Alpha," came his serious reply.

I reached the place where I put my clothes on the branch of a tree in front of the pack house. I placed my mate, her back supported by a tree trunk. I wore my clothes, picked her up and rushed towards the front door.

Opening the door, I saw pack doctor standing in the foyer waiting for me. He was a middle-aged man. He has been our pack doctor for more than 20 years.

"Good evening, Alpha," he greeted me taking notice of my mate in my arms.

I growled lowly at that. His eyes snapped up at my face immediately.

"Follow me," I said as I raced towards the elevator.

Reaching the elevator, I entered pressed the button for the top floor. Tapping my foot impatiently, I waited to reach the top floor. Finally, the elevator doors opened with a ding and I speed-walked towards my room, George following closely behind me. I opened the door and placed her softly on the bed. I clapped my hands and the lights turned on. I turned around and looked at the doctor.

"She tripped and hit her head with a tree trunk," I said as I walked towards the door to give him some space.

He nodded and checked her pulse then started examining her head.

"He is touching our mate," my wolf growled angrily in my mind.

"Calm down, Alex. He is just examining her," I said trying to calm him down.

He growled defeated. I moved to stand outside to calm down my wolf. After 10 minutes, the doctor came out, his doctor bag in his hand.

"She had a mild concussion, Alpha," he spoke.

Before I could question him about her health, he beat me to it.

"I injected a painkiller so she won't be up until the morning. If she feels pain in her head, give her this medicine. If you need me then just call me. She will be fine, Alpha," he said as handing me the medicine.

"Goodbye Alpha." I just nodded at him.

I sighed in relief. I think I should call her that and tell him about her whereabouts.

Mom and dad have left Hawaii so they won't be back for a week. I went to my office and got the phone diary from the glass and wooden desk drawer. Finding the head warrior, Richard Williams' number, I dialed his number using the landline. I sat on my chair and waited for him to answer the call.

"Hello, Alpha? I heard his voice from the other side.

"Yeah, I called to ask If your daughter, Evangeline was home?" I asked him.

"No Alpha, she went for a walk an hour ago but she isn't home yet," I could hear that he was worried.

"Don't worry, she is with me. She tripped and hit her head. The pack doctor gave her a pain killer so won't wake up until morning. I'll drop her home first thing in the morning," I assured him.

"Thank you, Alpha," his voice filled with relief. "Good night, Richard."

"Good night, Alpha," he said as I disconnected the call. I placed the receiver back at its place and walked back towards my room. My mate was sleeping soundly on the bed. I looked at her for a while then, went to take a shower.

I exited the bathroom wearing sweatpants and leaving my chest bare. I sat on my side of the bed and rested my head on the headboard. Turning my head towards my mate, I reached out and caressed her cheek. Her skin was as soft as a baby's. I leaned down and kissed her forehead.

I ran my fingers through her soft hair. I never thought I'd find my mate after so many years. She is beautiful and young. Too young to take the responsibility of the pack. I know we were destined for each other. I can't throw her in this cruel world. There will be threats and she'd have to stand by the pack as a motherly figure. But, how could she be a motherly figure when she, herself is a juvenile. I don't her to feel like her life is ripped off her hands.

I can't mark her yet. I'd have to wait for her another year or two. My wolf whimpered at the thought.

I know she wouldn't be able to shift but I eased my wolf by telling him that it is for her own safety. She can become an easy target for my enemies and she is too fragile handle such things. I sighed as I laid down. My wolf was sad and demanding to hold our mate. I drifted closer and pulled her back into my arms. My wolf purred happily. I clapped and the lights turned off. I drifted off to sleep with my beautiful little mate sleeping in my arms.
