Previously in Eva's POV

I threw myself on my bed and got under the covers. Exhaustion consumed me and I fell asleep with flashing blue eyes and a certain fresh and an earthly scent on my mind.

Eva's POV

I woke up to the sun rays streaming on my face through the curtains. Birds are chirping. It's a beautiful morning. But... I don't feel so good. Urghh! I tried to get up but then I felt a pounding headache. I placed my right hand on my forehead. My whole body is aching and my head is exploding.

I think it's because of yesterday's cold rain. Now that I recall, I reached home soaking wet last night. I didn't even have a jacket with me. Aghh! This headache is killing. I pressed two fingers on my forehead.

Thinking about yesterday's events, I suddenly remembered about those piercing blue eyes. He was beautiful. From jet black coat to piercing blue eyes. His form radiated authority. I was in awe when he glided through the air and knocked that rogue off me. I can't help but think what would've happened if he hadn't been there to save me. A shiver ran down my spine. No Eva! don't even think about it. I thought to myself. I don't think I've seen him before. Upon hearing a knocking on the door, I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Uh... come in," I said meekly.

"Good morning honey".

I raised my head to look at mum who stood near the door with a smile on her face.

"Morning," I tried to greet her back but my throat felt parched.

I tried to return her smile but with this pounding headache, it came out as a grimace.

"Are you okay? What happened? I've been calling your name for the past five minutes," mum asked as she came to sit on the bed and pressed her hand to my forehead.

"Umm... not exactly," I replied her vaguely.

"Eva," she gave me a stern look.

"Okay, okay... I don't feel so good. My head is pounding and my muscles are aching," I told her in a weak voice.

"Oh, sweetie! You'll be alright. Just rest for a while and take a leave from the school," she said as she smoothened my hair.

"I'll make soup for you. It will make you feel better. For now, take some rest," she told me as she got up from the bed.

"Oh, I almost forgot what I came to tell you," she suddenly turned to look at me.

I gave her a curious look.

"Today is the Alpha titling ceremony. Alpha Storm is back. All the pack is invited. But, since you are not feeling good, you can rest. We'll excuse you. Oh, and it's at 5 in the evening," she said as she walked out of the room closing the door behind her.

I sighed as I shifted to find a comfortable position. I wish I could also go to the ceremony. I wanted to see the new Alpha but I don't feel well. I guess I'll see him some other day. Feeling curious about the new Alpha, I fell asleep.

Xavier's POV

I woke up to the sound of someone knocking at my bedroom door. I sighed frustratedly. Who the hell was waking me up?

"What?" I snapped at whoever was one the other side.

"Uh... Alpha Storm, Luna Sophia asked me to wake you up. It's 12:30 P.M. and your Alpha titling ceremony is at 5 in the evening," I heard a shaky voice of a maid.

"So?" I asked rudely.

"Uh... umm what I mea-meant to say is that you should get up and prepare yourself for the ceremony," she stuttered out in a weak voice. If it wasn't for my strong hearing I wouldn't hear her.

"Okay, you can go now," I told her.

I shifted and reached for my phone. It really was 12:30. I got out of the covers and sat on the edge of the bed. Running my hands through my hair, I got up from the bed and went to take a shower. Getting out of the bathroom, I went to my wardrobe and wore a sky blue button-up with dark blue jeans.

Getting out of the wardrobe, I stood in front of the dresser and styled my hair in the mirror. I wore my shoes and put my phone into my pocket. I don't really need it for the pack. You know the mind link and all but still, I prefer to keep it with me. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen. Mom was standing near the stove.

"Hey mom," I greeted her.

She looked up and smiled. "Hey Xavier, I made sandwiches for you. Take a seat."

I sat down on the bar stool near the counter.

"Here," she said placing the plate of freshly made sandwiches with a glass of mango juice.

"Thankyou," I said taking a big bite of my sandwich.

"Your welcome. Now, I am going to go and see if the arrangements are done," she said leaving the kitchen.

I just nodded at her. When I was done, I put my plate and glass in the sink.

"Son, come to my office," I heard dad's voice through the mind link.

Okay... I thought to myself. I walked to my office and knocked at the door.

"Come in." I heard dad's voice from the other side.

I opened the double doors and looked around. His office was huge. From the glass wall behind him to the neatly lined couched. Everything was perfect. I moved and ran my hand over the book spines in a shelf near the door. He had lots and lots of books but most of them were in the library. He kept some of them in his office to read when he wanted to.

I sat on one of the chairs in front of him.

"You called me?" I asked him.

  "Yes, I wanted you to know some important things about this pack," he said as he placed his intervened hands on the desk.

I nodded at him to continue.

Dad and I went on for more than 3 hours and when we were done, it was almost time for the ceremony.

"It's almost time. Let's go," dad said as he got up from his big black office chair.

I got up and followed him outside. When I was out, he locked the door of his office and gave me the key.

    "This is your office from now on," he said patting me on my back.

"Now let's go. Pack members have started to arrive," he said as he walked towards the elevator.

I put the key in my jeans pocket and silently followed behind him. We reached the ground floor and I could hear the chatter of people from outside the house. We reached the garden of the mansion and the noise died down.

Everybody was staring at us. More specifically me. I looked at a girl and she was giving me a lustful stare. Uh... I inwardly cringed but kept my face impassive. A small stage was made at the front. The whole pack was invited. I don't like crowds. I feel suffocated in a crowd. I can't think straight.

Dad and I reached the stage and he started addressing the crowd.

"Good evening everyone," he said in an authoritative voice.

A chorus of good evenings ran through the air.

"Today we have gathered here for the Alpha titling ceremony of my son, Xavier Storm."

Everyone cheered at that.

"Now, what would you like to say to the pack?" dad asked suggestively.

"Thank you all for coming here today. I will protect this pack with my life. I will do my best to provide you with everything you need.And as your Alpha, I will do my best to make this pack the strongest and the best pack in the world. I promise to be honest with my pack in all circumstances. Thankyou," I finished looking at the pack members.

Everyone clapped at that.

"Now, I announce you the new Alpha of Storm Pack. Alpha Xavier Storm."

Everybody started cheering at that. All I could hear was their clapping and cheering for me.

I walked down the stage and dad asked me to come with him to meet someone.We walked together towards a couple.

"Hey! Richard," dad greeted the man with a smile on his face.

"Hey Alpha," he greeted back. I saw the woman gently smile at me as Richard started talking with dad.

"Son, I'd like you to meet Richard Williams and his mate Mary Williams. Richard is the Head Warrior of the pack.He moved here two years ago with his family after you left for Yale." I nodded and shook hands with him.

"Nice to meet you," I told him with a straight face.

"Evangeline didn't come?" dad suddenly asked that Richard guy.
That name caused pleasurable shivers down my spine. And I didn't know why. I've never heard that name before. Maybe, she was their daughter. I only heard Mary saying something about her being ill. I tuned out the rest of the conversation as I was lost in my own thoughts.

"Hey, brother wanna have a drink," I jolted out of my thoughts upon hearing Zander's voice.

"Huh...Oh yeah sure." I turned to my dad who was still talking with Richard and Mary.

"Uh dad, I think I'll catch up with you later." He just nodded at me and kept talking.

"Congrats brother," Zander said as he pulled me towards the drinks.

"Which one do you want?" he asked.

"Get me a coke." He just raised his eyebrow at me then threw a can of coke towards me.

I caught it and took a sip after opening it.

"So how do you feel? being the Alpha and all?" he asked as we stood away from the crowd leaning against a tree in the garden.

"Strangely, the same," I told him turning my head towards him.

"Ahan," he said nodding his head in understanding. I returned to the crowd after a while.

Almost everybody had left. Each pack member came to greet and I had to talk to every single one of them. My head was buzzing with thoughts and I had to clear my mind. I told Theodore about it , who was the new beta as his dad has retired too, and left for a run.
I reached the forest and shifted mid-air. It felt good to be back where I could shift whenever I wanted to. In Connecticut, I had to restrain my wolf every time he wanted to be let out. I started to run around the forest aimlessly, just to clear my head.

Today's ceremony went fine and I think I can handle the pack.With the help of Theodore and Asher as my beta and third in command, I'll do just fine.
