Eva's POV

I started walking towards my locker. As I was put my backpack in it; someone shrieked in my ear.
  
"Ahhhhh! what the hell Anna?" I took a deep breath and glared at my best friend.

"Hey Eve Eve", she gave me a toothy grin, her forest green eyes shining with mischief.

Anna Clint is the daughter of the pack's third in command, James Clint and sister of Asher Clint. Although I don't like Asher, I love Anna.

She has been my best friend since I moved here two years ago. We've been inseparable ever since. I focused on the matter at hand and gave her another glare.  
"Woah, what happened to my 'everything is rainbows and sunshine' Eve?, she asked looping her elbow through mine and pulling me towards the hall.

"Your brother happened," I told her sourly.
 
"Oh! What did he do?"

"Nothing," I grimaced.

"Hey, tell me," she said softly.

"I ran smack into a tree on my way to school. Taylor, Chris, and Asher and Zander saw me and laughed at me," I sighed.

She blinked at me, once, twice then started laughing hysterically which made me groan.

We reached the hall. Mrs. Andrews, the beta female, saw us and gave us a warning for being late. We excused for being late and started helping other students.

Eva's POV (continued)

After many hours of hard work which was just standing there and doing nothing, we were free to go home. It was almost 6:45 in the evening.

Many parents came and appreciated the work of our class fellows and we had to stand there with a smile on our faces.

Ugh!

We went out of the hall and got our stuff from the lockers. Then, we walked to the school gate together.

"I am so tired," I whined to Anna who agreed with me.

"I am drained, my legs are hurting," she groaned out as we started walking towards our houses.

Her house was on the way so we usually walked together. The weather was quite windy. The wind was picking up and dark clouds covered the sky. It was going to rain. I walked Anna to her house and started walking towards my own.

I was enjoying the weather, walking slowly and humming to myself when I heard something behind me.

I looked back but nobody was there. I shrugged it off and kept walking.

Again, I heard something. It seemed as if two people were whispering. I started speed walking towards my house.

Suddenly, something tackled me to the ground. I let out a terrified shriek.

It was a male wolf, a huge one on that. I looked into his lifeless red eyes. A rouge. A gasp escaped my lips. He bared his teeth and snarled at me. Chills ran down my spine.

Oh no! This is bad. I am surely going to die today. I love you mom, dad, Anna and my pringles that I hide under my bed so that mom doesn't see them and take those lovelies away from me.

I snapped out of my thoughts upon hearing the rogue snarl again.

His rotten smell reached my nose and I couldn't breathe. I tried to fight him but he growled at me. I couldn't fight him because I haven't shifted yet.

She-wolves could neither shift nor mind link anyone until they found their mates.

I remembered dad's training and tried to throw him off me. I couldn't. He was too strong. He pushed his left paw further into my stomach to stop me from moving. Pain exploded in my stomach and I whimpered.

Suddenly, there was a mass of black fur and the rogue was tackled off me. I just laid there on the ground shell-shocked. I couldn't bring myself to move even if my mind was screaming at me to run for my life.

The black wolf looked at me with his flashing blue eyes. He was beautiful. I stared into his eyes in awe. He stared back as if telling me to run.

I scrambled to my feet and ran through the woods without looking back. I could still hear the wolves snarling and growling at each other.

I pushed myself to run faster. It started raining heavily. I looked back to see if the rogue was following me. Luckily, he wasn't. The other wolf must have killed him.

My house came into sight and I ran to the front door with my backpack in hand. I leaned against the door, breathing deeply trying to calm myself.     

Once I felt calm enough, I opened the door and entered the house. My clothes were wet, shoes muddy and hair disheveled.

As I entered the lounge, I put my backpack on the floor. Mom was sitting on recliner chair reading a cooking book.

She looked up from her book and her eyes widened. A gasp escaped her lips. She got up and came towards me.

"Sweetie, what happened?" she asked worryingly as she touched my cheek. I sighed and sat on the couch.

She brought me a glass of water. I gulped the contents and placed it on the coffee table. Mom sat next to me and took my hand in her warm ones.

"A male rogue attacked me on my way home," I told her.

Her warm brown eyes widened, fear evident in them.

"Oh, sweetie! Are you alright? Did he hurt you? We should call your father. He should know about the rogues," she spoke hurriedly.

"No! Mom, I am fine. I am just exhausted. And what did you mean by call dad? Is he not home?" I asked her confusedly, staring into her dark brown eyes that I inherited from her.

"No, Alpha Sebastian called him to his office, something about discussing pack business," she said. I nodded.

"Alright, I am going to take a shower and have an early night," I said getting up from the couch grabbing my backpack.

"Hey, you want to eat something. I ordered Chinese," she asked.

"Nah! I am not that hungry. I just want to take a warm shower and sleep for the rest of the night," I gave her a kiss on her cheek and wished her good night.

I climbed up the stairs and threw my backpack on the chair in the corner of my room. I untied my hair and stripped off the wet clothes.

Entering the bathroom, I turned the shower knobs and settled for a hot shower. Minutes later, I climbed out of the shower stall and dried myself. I entered my closet and wore my sweatpants and a comfy shirt.

I threw myself on my bed and got under the covers. Exhaustion consumed me and I fell asleep with shining blue eyes and a certain fresh and an earthy scent on my mind.
