27. Heart

Naya's P.O.V.Present.

"I have Regan and I'll give her to you. If you stop hurting everyone. NOW." I screamed, waited for him to get up. Usually, iron could kill a Fae, just like werewolves and silver but he was also a hellhound, they were immune worldly weapons.

That would burn out the iron but his Fae half was still hurt, that was his kryptonite. Just like the burn marks I remember seeing. It was his Fae side was effected and the hellhound helped him survive.

He shook on the ground and his fog disappeared. Groaning, he turned from one side to another as the bullet made his way out of his forehead. The wound didn't heal, it left a wide whole in his forehead.

"You're LYING." His white beady eyes penetrated through the night.

"If I was, would I be here breaking down the castle and digging up Regan's grave?" I taunted him. Finally, he stood, staggering on his feet. "Come on Hayden, do you really think I'd come anywhere near you to die again?"

"I made a deal with the spirits, you've been trying to get to other to the other side all these years but your beloved is here. Right behind that castle." I tried to get closer to him but Ocean held me back.

"Aaron and A.J. are digging now." He whispered to me.

Suddenly a purple light illuminated from behind the castle, Hayden lifted his arm, black loose sleeve covered him from the light. He hissed. It was the talisman.

Suddenly I heard the screams of the witches. Recollection of the past attacked me and my heart died a little for my friends that lost their lives that night.

Only witnesses were the moon and the spirits. Everyone covered their ears at the screeching sound, even the damn Darkling.

The voices scorched the earth, blew away the leaves. Ghostly figures shot out of the windows and doors. Everyone stared at them in disbelief. Thick grey air swirled in loose forms of human figures flying towards the green light in front of the moon.

"What the hell just happened?" Ocean breathed out.

"We knew he was coming after us, so the witches put talismans in each corner to keep Hayden out and for their own protection, they moved in. But what we didn't know he could manipulate the humans into getting in and slaughtering us. The damn talismans bounded the witches who casted spell and trapped their souls in." I explained.

The wolves who were pissed jumped into action and ran towards where Aaron and A.J. were digging.

"Like I said I wasn't lying. You can cross the barrier now." I didn't trust him but Josh was there where Hayden couldn't get to. He finally crossed the line and slowly walked towards Ocean and I. In the process, he shed his robe, burns marred his chest, arms and body. He seemed to be stuck in the olden days due to then ancient style pants he was wearing.

"Why should I believe you?" The wind carried his voice.

"You get her back and you leave us alone. It's that simple." He started at me like he wanted to kill me. His hands twitched that he clenched them into fists.

"That simple. THAT SIMPLE. You burn US ALIVE AND YOU think it's ALRGHT?" He screamed causing Ocean to shield me. I touched his arm to sooth him, calm him down. Hayden had nothing on Ocean when it came to hand to hand combat but the bastard used his Fae powers.

"YOU killed humans for FUN. You all did." I wanted to claw his white eyes out.

"Well, look how that turned out." He smirked and Ocean growled.

"How did you do it huh?" I didn't understand that part. How the humans that they tortured sided with him.

The smirk remained on his face. "At first I threatened them. I would torture them if they didn't kill the witches and you. Taught them how to do it, taught them your weakness. Silver for wolves, burning the witches alive like they did to us, iron for Faes and so much more.

"After that, they didn't need any more incentives, they did it themselves. I allowed their hate to fester and let them act on them. It took them 5 centuries to pull you pure bloods down from all your thrones.

But when it happened, it was the sweetest revenge." The air around his hand swirled. He was getting ready to attack us. Ocean and I immediately grabbed out guns.

Something behind us exploded like a dynamite, a white circle of clouds rolled across the ground, expanding past our feet.

"That's Regan, go ahead." There was no way I was going to turn my back on him. Surprised he followed my eye line to find the now visible tomb. There was a body on flat stone top. His eyes grew bigger, the truth finally sinking in.

He couldn't see the band of werewolves surrounding the tomb. Ocean motioned them to move away, behind the castle and they complied in awe. Levi held on to the bright purple talisman in his pocket. It obscured the absurd light but protected them.

White light surrounded the tomb crumpled by the smoke. The body from far away looked burnt and bloody with charred black tendrils hanging off. Her head was half burnt, hair sticking out from different angles. A green light hovered over her before it suddenly seeped into her.

She rose from the dead, naked body sat up on the flat surface.

"Regan."

My eyes snapped to Ocean who wore the same expression as mine. We were both astonished to hear the softness in his voice. This bastard truly cared for her.

The boys emerged from the other side of the castle, jogged quickly towards the cars but not before passing on the two talismans they managed to dig out. They all looked at me with new respect and awe.

I earned their respect without my wolf.

They bowed their head while my mate stood next to me. Pride oozed from his body. We palmed the talismans quickly in our pockets and made our way towards the two burn living bodies. They couldn't see us anymore.

We needed the talisman to not just free the tortured souls but for invisibility as well. They were the strongest talisman any witches had ever made. Ocean commanded them to return to the cars via his Alpha link and they complied without a backwards glance.

"I can't believe that you're real." He cupped her fleshy face.

"Hayden, how?" Her voice was hoarse, she held on to his forearms.

Ocean knew what to do. I didn't tell him about me facing Hayden because there was no way he would have ever let me but other than that, he knew more or less everything. I took out my army knife from my boot and Ocean released his wolf claws.

Just like they stuck us from behind, we sneaked up right behind them.

"We can be together now. I-" Ocean ripped through Hayden's back and reached straight for his heart with his claws. My hatred for him encouraged me stab Regan in the back. A woman I once considered trust worthy. The tip of the knife hit the heart, I curved around her half-burnt flesh and plucked it out of her body.

The lack of claws on my fingertips was all the incentive I needed to get my hand through the whole I made and rip her weak heart out. Hayden couldn't see me but his white eyes slowly started to turn red. The hellhound red.

Ocean finally yanked out his heart. Their body slumped forward and over each other. Limp and lifeless. I stared at Ocean, wondering what to do next when fiery veil opened behind me. Ocean dropped the heart, dragged me behind him.

The fire was shaped like a door and it growled loudly. Flames reached out forcing us to back up. Lucky for us it stopped at Regan and Hayden's body.

The tips of the red and yellow fire wrapped its flames around their souls. Unlike the witches, theirs were black. Hellhounds appeared on both sides of the gates. Fiery bodies with flames for arms.

They captured the black souls with their fiery extensions and dragged them into the gates of hell.

Hayden and Regan finally saw us. Their anger towards us was unmissable but they screamed when the hell fire touched them. They weren't going to the other side. Hellhounds resided in purgatory and that's where they were headed.

With a flash, the door disappeared as quickly as it appeared. I held onto Ocean, waited for the next shoe to drop but we were only greeted with absolute silence. Ocean's skin felt warm against mine and I felt my body heating up significantly.

"That's it?" He asked but to my dismay, I was feeling light headed. The green light around me brightened and I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

"Naya. NAYA. NOO!"

Abruptly, the green light consumed me pulling me away from Ocean. Once again.
