Chapter 7

Luka and I are now back at his empire waiting for Athena's arrival. Luka hasn't said a word since leaving alpha Cubris's empire, it's not like I expect him to either. After all, he did do what I asked of him now there isn't no reason to expect more from him. Everything else I can do myself with my sister.

"I'm surprised to see you here," Azure breaks the silence in the room as he steps foot into the living room.

Luka throws the most hateful glare towards his way crossing his arms. My eyes widen from the intensity of his glare towards his brother, I mean half brother from what he mentioned earlier today. I awkwardly watch as these two stare down at one another most likely forgetting I'm even in the room in this exact moment. My curiosity rises naturally wanting to dig at some point, why this two have such a rivalry.

"Anyways, goddess Alyja, my mother and I will be out for the night. She has a important meeting with her little tea club," Azure averts his attention away from Luka now fully facing me with those icy bright blue eyes of his. "Sounds like fun," I smile not knowing what to really say. Suddenly, the guilt strikes me as I remember I'm suppose to be looking for a way to freeze her body, but yet again I am focused on other things.

I really hope she doesn't ask me.

Azure smiles nodding at me politely as he excuse himself from my presence turning his heel to make his way upstairs disappearing at a turning corner.

"Can I ask you something?," I mumble as a thought appears in my head.

"No."

"Really?," I frustratingly huff leaning my back against the comfortable red leather couch.

"You asked if you can ask me a question and I said no now drop it," Luka blankly grumbles.

Alpha grinch is back.

I roll my eyes annoyedly not bothering to say a word knowing it'll only make him more rude. Funny, how I'm quickly learning his character and how to work around him without overstepping.

As soon as Azure makes his way downstairs pushing Lodis down carefully as she casually sits on the wheelchair. A knock is heard on the door. Seeing Luka not bothering to get up to open the door, I stand up from the couch walking over to the front swinging the door open.

Athena stands in front of me giving me a smirk obviously loving how she gets to get out on a adventure after being home pregnant. Alpha Lysias is really strict on her wondering off. I glance down at her big swollen stomach seeing how much it's grown since the last time I saw her.

"I would hug you right now, but what the heck is that you're holding?," I crease my brows pointing my finger towards the green feathery object she keeps flapping around.

"Protection," she briefly says stepping inside. As soon as she does this, another figure makes their presence known. There she stood a dark red haired she-wolf with the darkest green eyes I've ever seen. I can tell she's like my sister looking completely intimidating by her posture and attitude.

"Welcome to my empire," Luka says almost bored.

"I must admit it's very impressing. Definitely compliments my sister perfectly if you know what I mean," Athena smirks giving me a light nudge.

Of course, it isn't Athena if she doesn't embarrass me in front of my mate.

"Well hello goddess of fire, what a wonderful unexpected surprise it is to have you here," Lodis utters.

Athena turns her focus onto Lodis her smirks instantly faltering. I crease my brows confused by her sudden behavior towards my mate's mother. Red fiery eyes on crystal blue eyes remain for a couple of seconds as the room stays mute.

"Can't say the same," Athena blankly responds observing Lodis.

"Athena," I grumble. I have no idea what has gotten into my sister or if this is one of her mood swings due to her pregnancy, but if I thought Luka was embarrassing, I was completely wrong. Athena takes the prize.

"It's fine, I completely understand your mood swings. Pregnancy does that," Lodis smiles before continuing on, "We're leaving now."

Lodis and Azure make their way out of the mansion leaving us four inside the living room awkwardly standing glancing at one another. "Where's alpha Lysias?," Luka decides to ask breaking the awkward silence that my lovely sister caused.

"He's at the alpha union. Where you should be at," Athena responds raising a dark brow at Luka.

"I don't care, I have better shit to do then waste my time at those boring unions," Luka scoffs walking out of the living room without saying another word.

I watch as he exits the front door wondering off into the woods like he does every night. Glancing at the clock on the wooden wall, I realize it's one hour until it hits midnight. So many questions goes through my mind that I'm starting to want to demand answers to.

Nothing makes sense here.

"What a mate the moon destined you to be with," Athena shakes her head.

"He doesn't want me to be his mate," I sigh finally being able to vent to my older sister . Since being here, I haven't been able to talk to anyone I trust about how Luka makes me feel.

"Don't assume that baby sister. Sure he's an asshole, but look at me I was once an asshole too and now I'm knocked up," Athena chuckles cradling her swollen stomach.

"I don't know. I can see it in his eyes the hatred of knowing someone like me is his mate. It's like he's disgusted," I sigh.

"Someone like you? Alyja, you're a beautiful she-wolf and not just that you're smart, loving, kind, and the ice goddess. If Luka is too dumb to see that is his loss," Athena reassures.

"Can't do much about it. We are mates."

Suddenly, Athena pulls out a gun from her purse pointing it up firmly glancing at the red head she-wolf that hasn't spoken at all this entire time before facing me with the look I'm all too familiar with.

"No!," I grumble crossing my arms across my chest giving her a disapproving look.

"Oh come on," she whines.

"He's my mate Athena. And an alpha. You can't just do such a thing and expect to get away with it," I quickly stop myself as I realize what I was saying before continuing on, "Wait! What the heck am I saying? Just no?," I scold.

"Fine, gosh I was just looking out for my little sister," she huffs shoving her gun back into her purse.

"You shouldn't even be carrying that thing around while you're pregnant with my nephew. What if by mistake-"

"Mistakes don't happen to me Alyja. Plus this was Lysias idea believe it or not. He wouldn't let me come to this empire without some sort of protection which explains Serena over here," Athena says.

I lock eyes with the she-wolf, I came to know as Serena. She nods her head in agreement of what her Luna just explained to me.

"Protection from what?," I confusedly crease my brows averting my attention back to her.

"Lysias mentioned to me that everyday at midnight, a Lycan is on the loose in this empire. No one has ever seen this beast and if they have, they don't live to tell it," Athena utters with seriousness in her tone which has me stunned for a moment since she's hardly ever serious.

"What?! Alpha Luka nor Azure has mentioned anything about this while I've been here," I gasp shocked by what my ears are hearing.

A Lycan in this empire has made every little hair on my body stand up in fright. My stomach does a thousand flips from the thought of a few nights ago when I was wondering in the forest when my mission to follow my mate went horribly wrong. Those howls I heard that night weren't from a wolf that's for certain. Is it possible that perhaps those sinister howls belonged to the Lycan?

"Weird, that's the first thing they should of. If I would of known this before. You wouldn't be here right now. After our mission, you're coming back to my empire," Athena firmly says as she takes a seat leaning her back on the couch. I can tell she's very exhausted due to her pregnancy weight.

"I can't, I still have to help Lodis," I protest.

"Lodis," she spat.

"I don't like her one bit."

"You don't even know her Athena? She's actually really nice. I didn't like your attitude towards her earlier," I grumble.

"Something about her rubs me the wrong way," Athena responds.

I roll my eyes, crossing my arms across my chest while giving her a annoyed look, "I can assure you she isn't no threat."

"You're very trusting and kind baby sister. Please be careful around her and that son of hers Azure. They're both just so off," she sternly advices.

"Should we go to alpha Yresis tonight or wait until morning. Now that I know about this Lycan. I don't want to be out at this time," I truthfully admit. Since finding out about this empire's secret about a Lycan running on the loose every midnight, I definitely don't want to be taking no risks especially while having my heavily pregnant sister here. Alpha Lysias would snap my neck if I put his mate and son in danger.

"We're leaving right now. Don't worry, in this gun lays a pure silver bullet specifically for this Lycan if we happen to bump into the beast. Which I doubt due to having Lysias SUV that will take us straight to alpha Yresis empire," she mischievously smirks giving a small delicate pat to her purse where her pistol lays in.

"Let's go Luna," Serena utters taking her gun out, a mischievous smirk forms on her lips as she opens the door for us to step out and into the car that is already ready for us.

Next thing I knew, the three of us are now on our way to alpha Yresis's empire. After discussing my dream to Athena, she herself admitted to having a similar one as well around the same time as me. Wherever these dragons eggs are laid around in. They sure are going to extreme measures communicating with us to find them. As alpha Cubris said, "A goddesses best friend is her dragons."

And here we are the goddesses of fire and ice on our way to find our dragons.

However, at the same time I can't help, but have this so called Lycan in my mind. As I stare out the window at the dark night sky with snowflakes coming down from it. I think back to that night the white owls were acting crazy flying into each other after that sinister howl that had me also falling face first at the sound of it.

There's no doubt in my mind that those howls belonged to this mysterious Lycan.
