Chapter 6
It's been a few hours of being on the road to alpha Cubris's empire. Luka managed to get one of his empire members to give us a ride which I'm entirely grateful for. There's no way, I would of been able to walk all of this distance.
"How long until we get there?," I yawn.
"We're here, but we still must drive up the mountain to arrive to his mansion," he says. The car turning a left to start going uphill.
"Why does he live on a mountain in the forest? Isn't he the alpha?," I furrow my brows confused on this alpha's choice of living. Usually alphas live somewhat near their empires in order to monitor everything that goes around. However, there are those few that keep distant like alpha Josiah, Zokris, Zacharias and Axemis.
"Don't know and don't care," Luka hoarse as he sits up straight stretching his arms out.
I roll my eyes from his response looking out of the window admiring the weather of this empire. The weather is dry not at all snowy like Luka's empire. Everything is so green, vibrant, and fresh looking well conserved due to it probably raining a good amount here and there. I scroll the window down to experience the feel more and instantly I'm welcomed by the smell of pure intoxicating trees, nature at it's finest.
"You've been locked up all of your life haven't you?," Luka utters interrupting my inner peace of mind I was developing from the natural smell of pure nature.
"I guess you can say that. I've never been out from my empire," I respond closing my eyes once again trying to concentrate on meditating. The moon knows that's what this intoxicating smell is making me want to do right now.
"Tragic."
I turn around nudging Luka on his side which he immediately winces to. "What was that for?!," he grumbles squinting his crystal blue eyes at me.
"Can you for once just be a decent alpha?," I sigh.
"It's not in my nature," Luka blankly responds.
Before I can respond, the car comes to a full stop which Luka and I both look away from one another and straight towards the window on my side seeing a huge gate blocking us from entering. "Let's go," Luka ushers swinging the door open stepping out of the car. I mimic his movements wanting to be close to him. I've never met this alpha, so I'm a bit nervous about what his character may be. If he's anything like Luka, I really don't want to be here to be honest.
Luka and I stand in front of the gate waiting for someone to respond back to Luka's message he inserted into the intercom attached to the side of the wall. His mansion is beautiful, all sorts of colorful trees and plants surround the entire place. Almost as if it was all made purely by magic.
"What are you doing here?," a deep voice utters from the intercom making me jump from fright not expecting it due to intently admiring the beautiful colorful place. As I do this, I accidentally clutch onto Luka's arm not daring to let go anytime soon like if my life depended on it.
Instantly, the sparks erupt like wildfire between Luka and I. Since being here, we haven't touched whatsoever. However, today the moon and fate had other plans for us. Luka shoves me away unlocking my grip onto his arm. I know he felt the sparks due to the shock on his face. He looks completely out of focus as he glances between the intercom and I not knowing what to do. "I-I'm sorry," I mumble hating the look he has plastered on his face. The mate bond is suppose to be beautiful, intimate, and genuine, but in my case it's the opposite.
"No way," the mysterious deep voice says from the intercom breaking the awkwardness between Luka and I which I'm entirely grateful for due to the way Luka is looking at me right now. He makes me want to sink down to the ground from his intense glare.
"Shut up," Luka grumbles into the intercom finally averting his attention off of me.
"She's your-"
"Open the gates," Luka hisses cutting the wolf on the other side of the intercom off.
The gates suddenly open to my surprise. If I was the other wolf, I wouldn't open my gates to Luka after that outburst he just threw not sure why.
I follow closely behind Luka making our way towards the mansion. As we get closer, I examine the details of this place closely. I've never seen such elegance of designs of marble tile as steps before, different colored stones is on the wall of the porch giving the entrance a spectacular look. I can only imagine how this entire place looks in the inside.
The door opens, as a tall muscular man steps out in front of us. The first thing that catches my eye, is his fascinating eyes. The color of light grey with swirls of yellow around his irises scream pureness and seduction at the same exact time. I'm sure this wolf has no problem seducing she-wolves.
"What a surprise to have guests visit me," he smiles sliding his hands down to the pockets of his pants.
"H-Hello, my name is-"
"Goddess of Ice, Alyja," he cuts me off grabbing my hand into his, placing a small soft gentle kiss on it.
"You know my name? How?," I confusedly mumble.
"Alyja, this is alpha Cubris. He can read minds amongst other biological gifts," Luka utters crossing his arms across his chest.
"It's an honor to meet you alpha," I softly say bowing my head down which he immediately stops me from doing so. "No need for that goddess, I should be bowing to you," Cubris says.
"How about no one bows. How about that?," Luka rolls his eyes annoyedly.
"Even with a mate, you're still immature," Cubris sternly says shaking his head in disappointment.
"She isn't my mate."
"Are you really going to argue with me?," Cubris raises a dark brow at Luka crossing his arms across his chest looking completely casual almost bored even.
Luka stays silent, throwing a hateful glare towards Cubris. For the first time, since meeting Luka, he's defeated by someone else. Which I can tell he hates deeply. Without saying a word, Luka being the unmannered alpha he is, walks inside the mansion curving Cubris.
The amount of embarrassment, I'm currently feeling right now is indescribable. All I know is that I wish I had the power to disappear right here and now.
"No need to want to disappear goddess. His actions aren't yours," Cubris utters breaking my thoughts.
"Wait-"
"Oh that's right you can read minds. Sorry, I've never met anyone with that gift before," I murmur. This is something I'm definitely going to need to get used to.
"Come inside," he smiles stepping to the side for me to enter.
"So what can I help you with?"
We are now seated in his office. Luka's tantrum has passed acting normal once again which I'm grateful for, because I really don't want to be embarrassed by my mate much more today.
"I'm aware that dragons haven't existed for a century, but I had a dream-"
I'm cut off by alpha Cubris placing his hand on my forehead. I glance at Luka not knowing what to do or even think about what he's doing. His eyes are shut concentrating on me.
Suddenly, he flutters his eyes open detaching his hand from my forehead. I watch as his now yellowish eyes fades back into his light gray colored eyes with swirls of yellow still remaining just as I saw when I first laid eyes on them an hour ago.
"Miraculously, three dragon eggs have resurfaced into our world," alpha Cubris says casually.
"What?," Luka gasps shocked by Cubris words.
"Where can I find them?"
"They're at alpha Yresis empire. Go there and you'll seek them. Keep in mind that only goddesses have the ability to communicate with dragons," alpha Cubris informs.
"I'm not stepping foot at his empire," Luka spat.
"No one invited you to go Luka," I bluntly respond.
"You two need to stop acting like children and act like alphas that you two are," Cubris solemnly advises.
Luka scoffs rolling his eyes.
"Thank you alpha for your help. I'll be going now to alpha Yresis empire," I smile grateful and excited for this adventure. Since having the dream, I've been craving to hold those dragon eggs in my hands. It's almost as if they're a missing puzzle to my world.
"You can't go alone," Luka utters.
"I'm not."
"Good thinking," Cubris smirks.
"I already mind linked Athena to come with me." I continue on.
"This is a goddess journey."
