I watch as Luka starts walking into the snowy forest not far from the mansion. I open the door closing it quietly, so no one inside the house can hear. I sprint towards the same path Luka took not too long ago making sure I don't lose him. It's dark by now and snowing even heavier than earlier. The wind is so cool as I feel it hit my skin instantly causing goosebumps on my arms.

Owls are heard coo-cooing around me. I look up seeing some flop their wings on the snowy branches as others tilt their heads down staring directly at me. Something about their wide round eyes scares me to the core. However, one specific unique owl that happens to be white catches my attention from them all. This owl observes me carefully as if it's watching my every move which freaks me out. It's as if it knows me personally. Back in my empire, owls didn't exist, but now I know they actually do. However, they compliment Luka's empire very well as their white fur flows beautifully with the snow.

From afar I see Luka disappear and I try my best to catch up to him, but my foot gets stuck under a root of a tree sending me face first onto the snow on the ground. I lift my head up snow falling off my face and a few snow flakes stuck on my lashes realizing I have officially lost Luka.

Standing up I dust off the snow from my clothes noticing how a few spots are now wet. However, I continue on walking straight looking around to see if I can spot Luka somewhere, but it's a total fail. I'm officially lost not knowing how to get back to the mansion.

"Fuck!," I grumble hating how my mission on following Luka went horrible already.

I turn my heel around hopefully being able to find my way back to the mansion when I hear a loud sinisterly howl echoing through the entire forest. Every little hair on my body stood up. Chills goes up and down my spine not knowing whether I should make a run for it or stay frozen to the spot. However, I decide to run not wanting to stick around incase something does strike me.

As I run, the wind blows much stronger than earlier snow flakes whirling around like crazy making my view blurry. My heart starts to race rapidly as I sprint through the windy weather wanting nothing more than to get out of this forest. Owls start to fly all over the place coo-cooing aloud frightening me even more than I already am. I may be the ice goddess, but this is a scary situation I want to escape from.

Another sinisterly howl is heard this time much closer than a few minutes ago only making my speed rise up. However, being the clumsy she-wolf I am. I trip falling down to the ground harshly. I hastily get back up proceeding to run looking back seeing owls fly into each other like crazy which only widens my silvery-blue eyes. However, the white owl remains still on the snowy tree branch staring at me with curiosity which scares me even more.

Before I can turn my head around fully. I bump into a hard chest falling back roughly staring up ready to scream, but don't seeing familiar icy baby blue bright eyes belonging to Azure. Immediately, I stand up taking his hand as he helps me up. I don't hesitate to let him know how much I appreciate his presence right now. I wrap my arms around his waist feeling him wrap his muscular ones around my petite self.

"Are you okay?," Azure murmurs.

I pull away staring up at his icy blue eyes before I respond, "I-I heard a howl deep in the forest."

Azure creases his light blonde brows then glances up staring directly at the forest before he grabs my arm pulling me along with him as he leads the way.

"It's nothing let's go," he blankly says as we both walk.

"I know what I heard Azure," I firmly say.

"It's probably just a wolf goddess."

"The howl didn't sound nothing like a wolf Azure. It sounded so sinister not normal."

"It's cold out here. You probably just imagined it or something. By the way, what were you doing in the forest goddess in this type of weather and pass midnight?," Azure raises a brow at me. Immediately, I notice his disapproving expression on his face about my actions of being out here this late.

I look down to the ground knowing I didn't imagine anything. I know what I heard twice out there tonight and it wasn't no damn wolf. This howl is something much more. Out of the blue, Luka comes into my mind that I managed to forget about due to getting off guard by the whole sinister howl that completely scared the living shit out of me tonight.

However, I have no idea what composed me to keep Luka going into the forest a secret. Maybe due to the fact that I don't want Azure, yet alone anyone knowing about me spying on him. So I just decide to agree with Azure wanting to drop everything, so I won't get questioned.

"You're right Azure I must of imagined it. This is what I get for wondering off having no clue about the ins and outs of this empire. I just really am amazed by the beauty of this place. I'm sorry," I  sigh.

"No need to apologize goddess. I was just worried when I couldn't find you anywhere at the mansion. I'm glad I found you and that you're okay. Just please don't wonder off again you can get lost deep within the forest. We are far from the rest of society, so if you were to get really lost. It would take you so long to hit someone's home and I'm not trying to get burned by Athena if something were to happen to you," Azure chuckles.

"Definitely don't want that happening," I giggle knowing he's absolutely right. Athena would run over here pregnant and all not wanting no explanation knowing her. She would just set this entire place into flames. Especially with those mood swings she be having with the pregnancy.

Poor alpha Lysias, I feel bad for him.

After awhile of walking, we finally get to the end of the forest. I let out a deep breathe of relief seeing the mansion's lights ahead of me feeling safe. Once inside the warmth of the fire place that instantly hits my cold skin realizing I was freezing out there. Funny how I was freezing even though I'm the ice goddess.

Go figure.

"Would you like me to walk you up to your room?," Azure politely asks as he closes the door from behind him.

"No it's okay. I know my way now thank you for finding me and getting me back safely," I thankfully say walking towards the stairs ready to get under the covers wanting nothing more, but to warm up my body entirely under the covers.

Once in my room, I change into my warm pajamas walking towards my bed. I'm immediately brought to a halt hearing the same sinister howl I heard back in the forest this time it's very distant. I walk over to the window across from my bed looking out the window . Darkness consumes the world, the wind blowing roughly, and snow flakes continuing to drop down from the dark sky.

My window is directly facing the forest almost too perfectly. I look around seeing nothing. I don't know if I do want to see who this strange howl belongs to or not, but it really has me questioning whether Azure might be lying to me. I mean if I just heard the howl from up here. There's no way Azure didn't just hear that.

However, these thoughts instantly go behind the back of my mind as another thought consumes my mind. Alpha Luka never returned from the forest. I have no idea where he is right now. I wonder if he has heard this howl as well. He must of have heard it too right? After all he is in the forest just like that howl is. I hope he's okay and far away from this mysterious creature whatever it may be.

A wolf it isn't that's for sure.

Hello lovelies, I'm so happy you've decided to continue on with the second book of 'the alpha series'. It really means so much to me that you guys are supporting me on this journey. I work so hard making sure my stories are worth reading and I can promise you all that so much more is coming in this series.

Thinking about what I have planned in this alpha series makes me so damn excited... you guys have no idea! 🤗😆
